Species Name:
Levianeili Species Type:
Reptilian Biped Planet of Origin:
Leviantalos Average Maximum age:
120 Standard Years Age of Maturation:
25 Standard Years Average Height:
7'0 Average Weight:
250 lb Notable biological features: The Levianeili are a humanoid shaped species, standing on two legs with two arms for manipulating tools. Reptilian in appearance, the Levianeili without their armor resemble over sized lizards. Their skin is much like the skin of a common lizard; rough to look at yet smooth when a hand is slid across it. The skin has a grayish or brown tint to it, although sometimes a dark green has been observed. Their skin is tough, being as stiff as leather. Most Levianeili have dark colored eyes, being either dark blue or brown, although lighter colors aren't as uncommon as one would think. Most females of the species have lighter blue or brown eyes. The pupils of the eyes are slit shaped, wrapped in a much larger iris, and their eyelids close horizontally toward the front. They never blink, only closing their eyes to sleep or in their death. These eyes are positioned on either side of the head, tilted towards the snout much like a chameleon's. Physically, the Levianeili are naturally muscular, although the female class is considerably less so. Their legs, being digitigrade in design, are often bent at the knees forcing them to walk on frontal part of the foot, compared to the heel. Despite this, the Levianeili still stand at an impressive seven feet on average, putting them above most species they encounter. Their legs are extremely powerful, allowing them to run at high speeds and jump a considerable distance. A diving roll alone can carry a Levianeili for the distance needed to dive to cover several meters away for example. A Levianeili's hands are tetradactyl in nature, meaning that they have only four fingers on each hand; two middle fingers and two thumbs for gripping. Some Levianeili are born with claws on either their hands or feet, although this is looked upon as a birth defect. Because of their muscular upper body, which includes the pectoral area, Levianeili are devastating fighters in close combat. Even the lowest class warrior can overpower an average human, which they utilize as often as they can. The head of the Levianeili is flat and plan, much like that of a snake. Females of the species have been known to grow hair, usually braided to keep it neat. Their nostrils are located on either side of the head, directly in front of the eyes on the snout. Because of their predatory appearance, their sense of smell is likely to be highly developed. Two mandible's on either side of the snout area, with each one covered in about four teeth, form the mouth of their species. Insect like in nature, only the lower mandibles move when they are speaking. The upper ones only open when the Levianeili is attempting to catch his breath or is roaring ina anger, whether it be at friend or foe. They have no lower jaw, leaving the space directly below their snout empty, even when the mandibles close. When talking, the lower mandibles move down and to the side, whereas when all four are used they spread out to the sides. Like a frilled lizard using its frill to frighten its foes. The inner workings of a Levianeili aren't much different than that of other humanoid species. They use lungs to breathe, using oxygen to fuel themselves. They have two hearts working in tandem with one another; if one fails, the other takes its place. Because they breathe air that is slightly heavier in nitrogen, their blood is a dark crimson or indigo color, based on how long they have been exposed to the air. The longer they are away from their own atmosphere, the more the blood becomes crimson in color. Levianeili do seem to lack a liver or kidney's, although this does not seem to affect their body functions in anyway. Sexual actions are performed no differently that most cultures, involving physical connection and fertilization of the female by a male. The females then give birth about seven to eight standard months later. The brain of a Levianeili controls all the bodily functions, along with retaining memories of things that have passed. It is fare to note that Levianeili are all naturally intelligent compared to most species - their lowest soldier is smart enough to outwit an average human. Quick thinking, mixed with their powerful bodies and natural ferocity, make them deadly to any that face them. Levianeili do wear clothing, although it is rather simple by most standards. The men and woman wear long robes, similar in nature to Japanese Kimonos. These are often worn while at home or while out walking the streets. While performing physical tasks, they wear long drooping pants and a light vest that covers their chest. The females robes tend to be much more colorful than the mens', but are still rather simple in design. Mated Levianeili often wear matching robes, close in design and/or color to their mates. Formal attire for the species usually consists of a more finely tuned version of their home robes, adding greater color or design to make them more elegant. Number of limbs and Type: Four limbs(Two arms and two legs), Biped Culture: Basic Culture Like any sentient species, the Levianeili have a culture and way of living that defines them from other species. The foremost ideal that Levianeili have is that all other species are their lessors. This belief comes from facing many enemies over the centuries, with only a handful of them earning the respect of the Levianeili people. Many used tactics considered shameful by the Levianeili people, therefore making them look weak and cowardly to the Levianeili and thus, lesser. In the Levianeili military, there is only one way to advance; to succeed, usually done so in battle. All Levianeili men are raised to be warriors from a young age and while most of them pursue a military career, some of them do follow a political career. However, Levianeili who follow that type of path are often disrespected by their military counterparts, believing that it is a dishonorable role in Levianeili culture. An interesting fact about Levianeili culture is that only those who become aristocrats are allowed to wield the swords, a high sign of honor within the Levianeili. However, those who acquire this rite are disallowed marriage to a female. They may, however, breed as they see fit, in order to pass their honorable genes on to a potential successor. Honor in Levianeili CultureLevianeili culture relies heavily on the system of respect and honor on the battlefield. Against an enemy or against one of their own kind, Levianeili honor those who perform honorably in battle. Levianeili soldiers show complete and total respect to their commanders, willingly rushing to their deaths behind them. Over the course of their history, Levianeili have honored their most respected foes by using equipment or tactics they employed. Because of the belief that a warriors blood is the essence of their honor, the spilling of one's own blood is considered shameful to the individual and the one who spills the blood. A Levianeili doctor is rare to see, for they are targeted by degrees of hate and disgust because they choose to willingly bleed the honor out of other Levianeili. To most Levianeili, the spilling of one's blood should only come from battle with their enemies. To visit one of these doctors is considered to be one of the greatest acts of shame for a Levianeili. Levianeili soldiers fear little to nothing, pride given to them from a code that, while long since lost, remains burned into the minds of all the Levianeili. No Levianeili will retreat from a foe unless directly ordered to by their superior; doing so without is an insult to the individual, his commander and their enemy. Because of this, many Levianeili commit themselves to doing as much damage to the enemy before passing. They also commit suicide in the event of capture; those who don't are executed by their superiors after to cleanse that individuals reputation and family name of the stain of cowardliness. This honor also forces their commanders to charge into battle ahead of their troops, the ultimate show of bravery. While this does lead to many commander fatalities, it inspires the next generation to the same level of the commander, thus making most Levianeili commanders in their own right. GovernmentLevianeili government rules like a feudal meritocracy, where each individual state is ruled by a single leader, who is advised by a circle of councilors. The individual states are named for the lineage that rules it.The leaders of these states are the most worthy member of that lineage and the state in which they rule adopts their lineage name. As such, there are a large number of states on their home world, varying in size from small groups to large utopias. The state rulers, the Tre'pa or Elders, are given their position through the recommendations by the state's ruling council. Each councilor, or Fun'ra, makes their decision based on the individuals accomplishments. However, if after their vote is cast and they find that their choice may have been ill-advised or they have second thoughts, they are honor bound to test their chosen leader. This usually involves sending assassins or warriors to kill their choice. If the Tre'pa succeeds, the Fun'ra's second thoughts are dispelled. If they fail, then the Fun'ra who voted for him is killed, along with their entire family. While extreme as it may seem, it is an act to cleanse the Fun'ra's name because those choose a weak leader to rule them. If the Fun'ra himself attacks the Tre'pa them self, or makes a final stand against them, their family is spared. They are, however, banished from that state instead. The Ruling Council of Tre'pa, which makes decisions based on the needs of the planet as a whole, are chosen from the top ten Tre'pa of the planet, with the most influential one acting as leader. FamilyThe concept of family and lineage is greatly valued within Levianeili culture. Every line has a Yut're San, or Battle Poem, which describes the deeds the family and its ancestors has accomplished. As such, these Poem's are often quite extensive, chronicling decades or centuries of the families acts. While it is not confirmed, it is believed that the military is made up entirely of Levianeili men. Women in the military are either none existent, or they stay away from the front lines of battle. Whether this is because of obvious gender differences has yet to be seen. Levianeili warriors have an intense brotherly attachment to their fellow soldiers; getting them to betray one another is an impossible task. This bond is so intense that many Levianeili die alongside their brothers, fighting to the bitter end with them. After every battle, Levianeili warriors grieve over the lose of their comrades, a ritual which includes a prayer for the fallen. Each prayer is given by the Levianeili that was closest to the fallen warrior, which is most often the one who was with them to the bitter end. Levianeili children are raised in a rather similar method to the military's idea of advancement. Levianeili children are separated into groups of twenty to thirty and are raised in common rooms. The idea behind this is that all the children start out in the same place, the same standing on equal footing. They progress in standing based on the merit of their abilities. Because Levianeili children are to be judged based on their skills rather than the status of their father, it is rare for a Levianeili child to be raised by their birth father; usually a relative male raises them in their steed. This ensures that the child is defined by their own abilities rather than being compared to their fathers. This also makes sure that the children does not use their fathers name as a means to advance without earning it properly. Another reason for this may be because aristocrats, who are allowed to bear swords, can mate with any number of females to spread their "honorable genes" that the raising of the child by a relative makes allows the child to be raised equally. Most Levianeili children spend their days proving their skills by hunting down small rat-like creatures. The one with the most kills at the end of the day is the one that is considered the top child until the next day at least. NamingA Levianeili's name has great value, a great honor and privilege for the proven. Levianeili often consider other species nameless to them, referring to them by something from their appearance or actions instead. Only those who prove themselves to the Levianeili gain the respect of having their given name used by them. Surnames for Levianeili comes from their lineage; each Levianeili in a state adopts the surname of the lineage. Levianeili names are broken down into several unique parts, with each having its own specific or special meaning. Their first name, the given name, is obtained at birth and remains with the individual until adulthood. Once they reach this age, they are given the right to choose a badge name. The badge name is broken into three separate parts; a describing adjective, a family name and a suffix of "-ee" at the end, indicating their role as a military participant. Levianeili that abandon their culture or are banished have the -ee removed, a proven sign of their distance from the Levianeili. Other suffixes are known to be used, usually in accordance with other roles. A politician, for example, often as a "-aa" suffix in its place. The Arb'teFinally, the Levianeili have a role that is both and honor and a great shame to the individual that it is given too. The role or Arb'te, or "fallen one", is a role granted to those who have greatly shamed themselves and their families, yet are considered too valuable to just execute. Originally, the role was seen as a way to reclaim one's honor, although during the Dissidents Rebellion, the role changed to one that was seen as the highest honor for a soldier to acquire. Arb'te are the right hand of the Ruling Council, acting on their orders to perform tasks of the gravest importance to their people. An Arb'te commands the same respect and power that a Ire'to does, allowing him to lead operations if the situation calls for it. Often, the missions the Arb'te undertake are missions that lead to the death of the Arb'te; accomplishing the mission, whether they live or die in the end, wipes their shame clean. Once an individual becomes an Arb'te, they remain one till their death, no matter how long it takes. When an Arb'te falls, they are recorded in the Hall of the Arb'te, with a list of their history and accomplishments. The armor of the Arb'te is much like the normal armor in shape and design, although it is made of a metal similar to steel instead of the durable material used for the standard soldier. The armor is also decorated with ceremonial markings, backing its role as a religious icon as well. Although only a few have ever had to wear the armor(a total of only ten have been forced to wear it since its creation), the armor is still made with the metal of the first one. Whenever it is needed, the armor is remade to match its wearers size.

Military: BackgroundThe Levianeili have an extensive military, with many different classes and roles for its soldiers to take. Each class has a different armor than its fellows, most often through a different color to symbolize their rank. Each classes armor is also made to suit the role said individual handles. A warrior who is on the front line has a heavier armored suit, for example, whereas a Stealth warrior would have a lighter armor to allow easier movement, along with cloaking technology. All Levianeili wear the same armor, although the armor is modified for each different class. The armor, which is attached to the body rather than slipped into, consists of shoulder and forearm guards, thigh and shin guards, chest and back plates and finally, a elongated helmet. The guards are made of a lightweight yet durable material, making them strong enough to take at least one or two blaster bolts while allowing the soldier a good degree of mobility. Since the armor does not directly cover the joints, flexibility is unaffected. The helmet has three fins, all pointing backwards, two on the sides with one on top. This gives their already impressive appearance an extra boost to frighten their enemies. Only the Spec Ops and Rag'fo have completely sealed helmets; the rest of the troops wear helmets that only cover their head. Although the soldiers are generally protected by this armor, one can aim for the exposed body in between the guards for heavy damage. The Levianeili know very well of this weakness, as their soldiers will often rush while bent forward or run sideways to present less of target for their enemies, as well as take full advantage of their armor. AdvancingA Levianeili soldier can advance in rank through several different methods, although it often pertains to what the individual is good at. The most common and most often used method is through how many foes said individual has killed. The number is tracked by the individual taking a piece of the vanquished as proof of a kill. Due to their high belief in honor, no Levianeili would take more than one piece from a fallen foe to cheat the system, for it disrespects both themselves and their enemy. The number of enemies one must kill in order to achieve a higher ranking is no easy feat; a single Ire'to commander may have had to kill hundreds or thousands to gain said rank. Levianeili that achieve an increase in rank through their kills are often admired by their underlings, for their strength commands respect. And it is usually given. There are other methods to achieving a higher rank, although the ones who employ it are usually one's that wish for something outside of a front line military rank. By showing a higher degree of cunning, one can achieve a rank increase, but the task in which this cunning is shown usually must be something of importance to the Levianeili people. Those who are military or Fleet Commanders are often given this rank by showing intense courage, cunning and bravery on the field or in space; usually at the expense of their own commander. However, those who achieve their standing through cunning instead of through battle are often looked down upon by their betters, while those below them believe they do not deserve their rank, though they keep it to themselves. While they do not command the same respect as a warrior who earned his rank through battle would, their ability to deliver victory and possible advancement for their fellows commands them a different kind of respect in its own right. Honor in the MilitaryLevianeili soldiers believe deeply in respect and honor on the battlefield. To use cowardly tactics, such as luring enemies into a bombing run or using a vehicle to crush an enemy underfoot, is considered dishonorable. If a Levianeili displays dishonor on the field of battle, or breaks their rules of battle, they often had to commit suicide in order to cleanse their spirit. Levianeili soldiers always rush headfirst into battle, their commanders often at the head of the charge. For a Levianeili commander, to hide behind his troops is an act of cowardliness. They are always first on the field of battle and always last to leave, making sure every member that can leave the field of battle is off. The highest rank soldier always handles this task, with troops leaving in order of lowest rank to highest. They do not go back for troops who are too injured to leave the field themselves; to do so is an insult to them and their family. Levianeili troops understand this, so those who know they will not be able to retreat or will die soon of their wounds make sure they die on the field of battle. Capture by the enemy is unacceptable, which leads to the said individual killing themselves on the spot, or by blindly rushing their foes in an attempt to take as many with them as possible. Soldier RankingsThe lowest rank a Levianeili solder can have is the Kal'ta class. These are the rookie soldiers, the front line of the Levianeili infantry. Despite being the lowest rank in the military, the Kal'ta are far from weak, having physical strength and intelligence that outclasses a fair amount of other species. Clad in a blue armor to show their rank, they are often divided into squads of four or five, which are lead by a single Bur'ta. Trained to function as a unit, they are at their best while employing squad tactics but are capable of individual actions if the situation calls for it. If a Bur'ta commander falls, any of the remaining Kal'ta can assume command, usually the one with the most kills takes over however. If a Kal'ta falls in battle, yet still lives, he activates a small device which tells his commanding Bur'ta that he is about to die or will not be able to make the retreat. If he dies outright, a device signals the Bur'ta of his death. The next rank is the Bur'ta, the squad commander. Stronger than the Kal'ta and usually smarter, the Bur'ta are given their role by proving leadership on the field. A Bur'ta is always at the head of their squad into battle, only leaving the field when every member of their squad can be accounted for. A higher level of training, mixed with their combat experience, makes them a much bigger threat on the field than their lessers. Bur'ta commanders lead squads of four or five Kal'ta into battle, always taking the charge to inspire their fellows. This does mean they are often the target of the enemies first attack, which is why they have generally better equipment then their troops. Still, Bur'ta commanders have a higher fatality rate than their Kal'ta counterparts, which is why in the event of their death, another Kal'ta will assume command. A device within the Bur'ta's helmet lists the status of his squad, indicating who is alive, who is dead and who will soon be dead. A Bur'ta is signified by their red armor. Following the Bur'ta is the Pra'ko. The Pra'ko is the commander of an ground operation, commanding the Bur'ta and the Kal'ta on the field with ruthless aggression. In accordance with their rank, the Pra'ko are highly capable field tacticians and powerful warriors in direct combat. A Pra'ko is given their rank usually because of the amount of enemies they have killed with their own hands, coupled with their ability to lead their soldiers to victory in battle. The number of soldiers a Pra'ko is given command over is directly related to their victories and their kills. The higher the number in both areas, the larger an army the Pra'ko are given responsibility for. Since they often lead a fair number of soldiers, a Pra'ko has a datapad attached to them that records the fallen and living, much like the Bur'ta's helmet. Only the Pra'ko responsible for the battle can access the datapad, making it useless to the enemy in the odd chance they can capture it. Unlike the Bur'ta, a Pra'ko does not need to charge headfirst into battle, although it is a great hon our if he does. A Prak'to instead can stay in the middle of their forces, making judgments on how the soldiers under their command should move. Like any good captain, a Pra'ko will die for their troops and ensure that all of the forces given to them are off the field before making the retreat themselves. All those that can anywhere. A Pra'ko is clad in white armor, along with some of the better tech that the Levianeili has to offer. They also serve as bodyguards to government officials of high standing. Special Ops and ScoutsTwo specialized roles for the Levianeili are the Rag'fo and the Wan'ye. Both classes are designed for scouting and recon and while they can perform both tasks, they are often suited to the one the other is not. The Rag'fo are designed to scout out upcoming terrain before the main army arrives on the field. Through recording devices located in their helmets, the Rag'fo feed information on the field for the commanders to assess before meeting an enemy. In doing so, the commanders can make decisions on how to position their troops, possible flanking routes and tactical advantages they can exploit. In order to counter the sometimes rough terrain they must traverse, the Rag'fo are equipped with a jetpack that allows them to hover for a brief period of time. The packs allow them a good thirty seconds or so of flight time before they must land to recharge the jets, which takes about thirty seconds as well. The Rag'fo are also often used to perform repairs on ships in the vacuum, since their suits are completely sealed off. Their rank is marked by a lighter blue armor, along with a full helmet. Meanwhile, the Wan'ye are used for scouting out the enemy itself. Equipped with a light armor along with a small cloaking device, Wan'ye use the information often supplied by their counterparts, the Rag'fo, to move close to the enemy. Once they are at a fair distance to observe, the Wan'ye record and report the strength of the enemy back to their superiors. Since their job requires them to get close to the enemies army, the Wan'ye are outfitted with equipment for disruption and evasion. In the event they are about to be captured, they terminate their own life, usually by grenade to prevent tech being taken by the enemy. Their armor is a dull gray, making them hard to spot against most terrain and mixes the best with their camo tech. Even though they are meant for scouting roles, both the Rag'fo and the Wan'ye can be used in direct combat and usually to great effectiveness depending on the leader. The Nra'ke fufill the role of Special Operations forces within the Levianeili military. Lead by the Nra'sa, their commander of operations, Nra'ke take on missions of grave importance to the Levianeili, ones the normal military would not be able to handle. These are often missions to take out leaders, key enemy structures or information gathering in places the scouting classes would be unfit to investigate. These missions are also considered to be suicidal as well. Trained to make them comparable to the Pra'ko in combat and tactics, Nra'ke are set together in teams of three or four, usually the latter. Few teams have three; only highly skilled teams have the one less member. The Nra'ke answer only to their squad leader, and the squad leaders only answer to the Nra'sa. The care all Levianeili commanders show for their soldiers is magnified in the Spec Ops, going so far that the Nra'sa will attack a superior if they disrespect their men. The Spec Ops are equipped with some of the finest equipment the Levianeili can produce, usually stuff specially made for their operations. Advanced weapons, gadgets and hardware are given to them based on their mission objectives. Like all other Levianeili, they will die before being captured. However, Nra'ke will attempt to save their fellows if they believe it is within their power to do so. The Nra'sa rarely goes to the battlefield himself, having earned a position that requires him to send his comrades likely to their deaths. However, on the odd occasion the Nra'sa actually needs to be on a mission, he is a foe to be feared. The Elite CommandersAt the top of the Levianeili military lies the Ire'to and the Qwa'nu. The Ire'to is usually a Fleet Commander or a Field Commander, often depending on his intelligence or brutality. Those with brutality usually become Field Commanders, leading their forces to victory through aggression and power. Those with a high degree of intelligence and tactical skill become Fleet Commanders, presiding over small armada's in space. The Ire'to are also powerful and veteran warriors, many of them with at least a thousand kills to their name. Ire'to are extremely honor bound soldiers, preferring to die in battle rather than flee. If a battle appears impossible to win and defeat is inevitable, the Ire'to will command his ships or troops to retreat, while his ship and select troops stay behind to face the enemy unto death. The Ire'to also prefer to use their ceremonial swords in combat over projectile weapons, believing that death should allow you to stare into your enemies eyes as the life in the body fades, rather than be shot down from afar. If an Ire'to is on the field, he is first into the fray and if he survives, the last out. Ire'to, in accordance with their rank, wear gold tinted armor. The Qwa'nu is the Supreme Commander of the entire Levianeili military, a singular being that controls all actions of the Fleet and Ground operations. Encased in purple armor and a robe that drapes over their body, the Qwa'nu commands the entire Levianeili fleet by commanding the Ire'to commanders. The Qwa'nu, being the head of the entire military, often has a degree of intelligence that only one in a thousand Levianeili show. Its because of this level of intelligence that he is given the role of Qwa'nu, as one with a lesser degree could be prone to make a mistake that could cripple the Fleet. This, along with the pressure staining from holding the militarizes fate in their hands, prevents only those who are prepared for the task to hold the role. When a Levianeili shows this level of intelligence, the higher ups immediately take the individual into their care and start a special training program for them. This includes intense combat training, advanced tactics and problem solving scenarios that would make lesser soldiers weep. Although most Qwa'nu achieve this rank through this method, some have achieved it through their combat history and accomplishments. Those who achieve the rank this way have often slaughtered thousands of enemies and been in hundreds of battles. Most often, the Qwa'nu are in the latter stages of their active lifespan, around the eighties to nineties. Despite their age, they are just as deadly as the Ire'to in direct combat, drawing on years of life or death training.

History: OriginsRelatively unknown in the galaxy until 4300 BBY, the Levianeili developed on a planet deep in the Outer Rim, bordering the wild space and unknown regions. Evolving from a reptile species native to the planet, Levianeili are believed to have evolved to the point of being able to start their culture and way of life around 5200 BBY. Over the next thousand years, they continued to grow and adapt, becoming the early version of the people they are today. Early Levianeili believed that a god ruled their fate and to honor their god, they must shed blood in its name. This belief was stopped about a hundreds years after its initial coming, as several Levianeili saw that senseless killing and battles, while honorable to their god, would have more meaning if the Levianeili fought and spilled the blood of others instead of their own. It was at this point that Sangeili started to advance from primitive tools to more advanced ones. From there, the Levianeili became a people who thrived on honor and respect and while clashes still raged across the planet's surface, the majority of fighting was quelled. This did not last long, however, as the Levianeili came across another race on their planet, the Brmantaz. The Brmantaz, a more canine like race, believed deeply in the value of territory, which lead to them declaring a war against the Levianeili when they felt they were infringing on that territory. The war, a violent and bloody one, cost many Levianeili lives, although it was not without its positives. For one, the Levianeili first adopted the ideal of showing respect to their enemies because of this war. Second, the war lead to the development of more advanced weapons, including the original version of the ceremonial sword that will be part of their culture for years to come. The most significant result of the war, however, was the discovery of technology far beyond what the Levianeili had at the current time. This allowed them to advance their technology to a level that would have taken years for them to reach on their own. It was because of this that they were able to not only defeat the Brmantaz, but were able to wipe them completely from the face of the planet. Small pockets of them remained in the years to come, but eventually through the use of hunting parties were they able to clean out the last of them. In respect to them, the Levianeili adopted their tactic of dying on the battlefield instead of being captured, taking as many enemies with them as possible. This was one of the few times the Levianeili chose to adapt another culture's ways into their own. Birth of the Arb'teAbout fifty years after the war, a series of attacks on science centers by fanatics lead the Levianeili to create the Arb'te to quell the attacks. Labeling the Arb'te as a way to reclaim one's fallen honor, they chose a warrior who had abandoned his duty during the Brmantaz war to don the role. The warrior accepted without question and begun a violent crackdown in his mission to crush the fanatics. Alone in his task, the Arb'te carved a path of death across the planet in his search for their leaders. Despite being alone at the start, others soon rallied to the Arb'te against the soldiers of the fanatic army, giving the Arb'te an army of his own. Time and time again the two forces clashed on fields of battle, although only the Arb'te could be seen on the field whereas the fanatic leader remained hidden. After a long and bloody struggle, the Arb'te finally located the fanatic lead and met him on the field of battle for a final duel. They agreed before the fight that should one lose, that they would cease their activities immediately. Both died as a result, but seeing that the Arb'te fell only after his enemy had fallen forced the others to honor an agreement made before the battle. The Levianeili retrieved the Arb'te's body and placed it in the place that would soon be known as the Hall of the Arb'te. The Dissident RebellionOver the next hundred or years or so, the Levianeili advanced their technology and spread across their planet, creating the idea of each Sangheilu lineage ruling a state in order to cover as much of the planet as possible. In 4800 BBY, the Levianeili launched their first foray into the stars. They did not stray far from their home world at this point, instead choosing to remain close for reasons of their own. It was during this time that the Dissident Rebellion started to stir. A significant of Levianeili believed that their culture should never have stopped honoring their guards through violent and bloody battles and prepared to overthrow the leadership in an attempt to bring back the ways of old. The Dissident's tore a wave of terror as they crossed the land towards the home of the Ruling Council, the effective leaders of the Levianeili people. Levianeili clashed with Levianeili, as the Dissidents met in battle the military forces. Driven by the belief that the gods favored them, the Dissidents crushed the military in almost every engagement. To make matters worse, they slew all in their path, soldier or civilian. Although almost all Levianeili could be considered soldiers, the women and children that died in the attacks were not and therefore, were considered non-combatants. The Council realized that the Dissidents take over would lead to the destruction of all they had accomplished over the years and return them to an era of brutality and senseless death. And seeing that they still had much ground to cover, many generations of Levianeili would be crippled from this war. The second coming of the Arb'te was their answer to the problem. This time they choose one of the Dissidents themselves, having captured the soldier during one of the battles. They promised him he would be honoring the gods, as well as cleansing his shame of being captured by leading their troops against the Dissidents. Although initially against the idea, the Dissident was finally persuaded when he was shown what the Dissident army was doing to generations of Levianeili through their brutal tactics. His eyes reopened, the Dissident donned the armor and took the reins of the army under his control. The return of the Arb'te, a symbol of their religion and a powerful leader, brought life to the reeling military. The people finally had someone to rally behind, causing entire states to stand up to the charge of the Dissidents. While many still perished in their wake, the Dissident's began to take casualties even when not fighting the army due to the actions of these states when they were invaded. Still, this was not enough and soon enough, the Dissident's stood on the very footsteps of the state in which the Council presided. In a final clash that was said to shake the heavens, the Dissident and army clashed in a violent display of death and destruction. Building's burned, woman and children ran, bodies littered the streets. At first glance, the Dissidents appeared to have won the fight and would soon be standing over the bodies of the Council itself. But fate had a different path to follow. The Arb'te, backed by the members of over a hundred states, charged into the battle, granting the military the numbers advantage. They swiftly rushed over the battle weary Dissidents, pushing them back in one fell swoop. In the midst of the chaos that ensued, the Arb'te met the Dissident leader on the steps of the Council chambers. Unfortunately, the Dissident leader proved to be the much better warrior, quickly gaining the advantage in the fight. The Arb'te, bleeding heavily and knowing his death was approaching, did not back down one step. As the duel came to its climax, a sign from above shattered their leader's belief that the god's favored his will for but a brief moment. The Arb'te did not waste it, plunging his blade deep into the Dissident's heart. As his body feel down the steps, the Arb'te roared in victory, which echoed throughout the city as thunder and lightning struck in response. Rain poured over the burning city, cleansing the fires and the blood of the fallen. The Dissidents, believing in the gods as they did, took this as a sign that the gods had abandoned their way of thinking, instead placing their faith in the victorious ways of the Arb'te. As the Arb'te breathed his last, the Levianeili united once again, vowing to fight only the enemies of their people. A century passed and despite several rebirths of the Dissident's, Levianeili life continued on as normal. Twice more the Arb'te had to be summoned and both times they fulfilled their roles unto their death. Another thing that occurred over this century was the belief in all Levianeili of might over science. While all Levianeili were naturally intelligent and their race capable of producing highly effective technology, they believed more in the thought that defeating an enemy in close combat was more honorable than killing them with technology. Further proving this point was that most of their weapons were designed for close quarters combat, including a more modern version of their ceremonial sword. This does not mean they did not have long range weapons; rather that they preferred to use the melee based weapons over them. Their space forces grew as well, although they still refused to advance out deeper into the galaxy. They had not yet discovered lightspeed technology, therefore travel to another planet was long and costly. They settled for exploring the nearby moons of their home world, mining them for valuable supplies and minerals. The Third Great CalamityThen came the event that would change the Levianeili. An unknown fleet suddenly appeared, drifting out of hyperspace into the system the Levianeili home world resided in. The two forces were evenly matched in terms of numbers, but because the Levianeili had never had to perform space combat before, their fleet soon retreated before it could be completely wiped out. The unknown forces, announcing themselves as the Kamigrto, then began to drop troops onto the planet while their fleet blockaded the planet. The Kamigrto demanded that the Levianeili surrender to them, abandon their culture and adopt the Kamigrto way of life or be wiped out. This demand to surrender their way of life struck hard into the Levianeili, rudely offending their honor and stroking the already raging fire within them. War came to Leviantalos once again and it was just as violent and bloody as the Dissident War. Despite having the advantage on the ground, the Levianeili would find itself horribly outclassed in air and space combat, which soon started to affect their efforts in foot battles. After a series of overwhelming victories for the Levianeili, the Kamigrto started to use bombing runs on ground battles and villages. Cities were shattered, soldiers dropped like flies against the raining firepower of the enemies ships and soon the Levianeili military found itself in desperate need of aid. Anger drove deep into the Levianeili at the Kamigrto's vile and cowardly tactics, although it did nothing to change their current situation. Still, there was hope. The fleet, which had hidden behind one of the planet's moons where an outpost was stationed, was repairing and preparing for battle once again. They just needed word when to start their counterattack. The military retreated with the council into hiding as their attackers began to fortify themselves on the planet, beginning their complete conquest of all that was Levianeili. The Kamigrto believed they had won.....and this made them let their guard down. As they had done before, the Levianeili called upon the great power of the Arb'te to lead them through the struggle. A fallen war hero took up the mantle this time and right off the bat, he proposed a suicidal but worthy plan. He would lead a division of Nra'ke into the heart of an enemy base and acquire their technology for the Levianeili to use. The Council could not dismiss the merit of the plan. The Kamigrto had technology that allowed their ships to be protected, at least for a short time, against outside projectiles. Shields. And their ships had suddenly warped into the system, which meant they had a device that allowed them to do so. Both would allow the Levianeili people to finally meet on even grounds with their attackers and perhaps, even turn the tide. With the plan allowed, the Arb'te set up a two prong attack. The first wave, which would consist of the main army, would attack the enemies encampment, luring the vile scum out onto the field of battle. Meanwhile, he and several squads of Nra'ke would infiltrate the enemies base, slaughter all who remained there and acquired the information they would need on their technology. The chance of success was slim and there was no doubt that many Levianeili would die. But having their honor stepped and spit on had stirred the fires within their hearts into a raging firestorm and they howled for the blood of their enemies. That very night, under the light of Leviantalos's moon, they struck. Caught off guard, the Kamigrto were slow in getting their troops into battle, which allowed the Levianeili to gain a momentary advantage. But as the sound of the enemies aircraft began to fill the night, they knew their advantage would soon be lost. Meanwhile, the Arb'te and his troops snuck into the Kamigrto camp and within seconds, the entire place was in disarray. Kamigrto soldiers and advisers alike fell beneath the swift and deadly Nra'ke, let alone the Arb'te. With much of their fighters out on the field of battle, the Arb'te quickly moved through the camp, cutting off lines of communication between the field commanders and their tacticians. The Levianeili army swiftly gained the advantage on the field yet again, as the commanders attempted to make orders of their own accord. In one of the huts the enemy used, the Arb'te found what they had come for. An access to the Kamigrto technology. They stole technical readouts of their craft and knowing that would not be good enough, grabbed several of their fighter craft. As they fled the encampment, they made sure to turn back and pummel it with blaster fire, reducing much of it to ash and flames. They then swept onto the battlefield, annihilating enemy craft and soldiers alike. Kamigrto soldiers panicked as their own craft appeared to attack them, turning to their commanders for answers. The Arb'te, having accomplished his mission, crashed his ship near to the front of the enemies front line and his roar brought to life his brothers. The Levianeili forces rallied behind him and within minutes, swarmed over the retreating Kamigrto forces. Victory had been achieved this day and it would be the first step to the Levianeili's victory. Studying the enemies craft, Levianeili scientists began to adapt their technology to use systems found on the Kamigrto's craft. Within months of the conflict, the battle in the air was quickly shifted to stand on even ground, which effectively gave the Levianeili dominance of the ground battles yet again. The Arb'te, still alive after his suicidal mission, lead his brothers on a swooping campaign against the Kamigrto, crushing their land based encampments and driving them back little by little. Kamigrto forces within cities were attacked by their residents and the planet itself seemed to come alive as the idea of victory started to become more than a dream. The Council enclave was retaken and for the first time in months since the take over, the Levianeili saw the end to the occupation. Hysterical that they were being defied, the Kamigrto commander prepared one final attack, one powerful offense designed to crush the Levianeili's spirits. To do this, the attack was aimed at the Council itself. All their forces were brought together on the surface, forming an army that doubled the Dissident army in size. In space, the enemy craft prepared to lay waste to the planet's surface should the final attack fail. Their leader, from all perspectives, had calculated how the battle would go and no matter what he threw into the mix, it always ended in his victory. But he forget about two crucial factors. One was how well the Levianeili knew this city from their previous war with the Dissidents. And the other was that ge did not factor in the power the Arb'te gave to his people. Victory and A New GalaxyFire and destruction once again rained down upon the Council's enclave as the Levianeili and Kamigrto forces clashed outside and within the city. The Kamigrto army, although much larger in size, hadn't taken into account how the narrow streets would cripple their effectiveness; instead, Levianeili warriors ambushed and forced their enemies into close quarters combat, their specialty. Because of this, their aircraft couldn't run strafing runs on the Levianeili people without the risk of hitting their own people. The Arb'te quickly took advantage of this and had his soldiers force enemies into compacted areas, fighting as close as possible to the enemy whenever possible. Despite being outnumbered by their enemy, the Levianeili soon found themselves in temporary control of the field. This did not last long. The Kamigrto commander, growing more hysterical by the second, ordered his aircraft to attack the soldiers even if they were mixed with their own. By focusing on groups were there were larger concentrations of Levianeili over Kamigrto, they would eventually cripple their smaller numbers. He also ordered his personal craft to take him up to the flagship, preparing to level the planet even if they did win. The Arb'te, seeing the fleeing commander, roared in anger at his cowardliness and stole one of their ships to pursue. With him came the very same Nra'ke who had been with him during the operation that had been the tide turner. Following their leaders tactics, the Levianeili soon found themselves once again in the minority, quickly being pushed back by the now surging Kamigrto. In space, the Arb'te and his Nra'ke were let aboard the flagship under the belief that they were allies. Chaos soon reigned as they broke upon the ship, slaughtering all in their wake as they made for the bridge. The fleet, having being waiting this whole time, suddenly appeared and descended upon the enemy ships. Since they were faced toward the planet, most of the enemy ships were completely exposed to the ships and a large portion of them soon started to burn under the fleet's firepower. The ground battle shifted once again to the Levianeili as, like before, villagers suddenly joined the fray, putting their numbers over that of the Kamigrto. Knowing their very survival depended on it, even the Council awoke their ancient warrior blood and charged into the fray. Instilled with the courage that their leaders had, the Levianeili forces soon overwhelmed the Kamigrto troops, slaying all of them before they could escape. On the enemies flagship, the Arb'te and his forces finally reached the bridge, the Arb'te charging to challenge their leader. As the Nra'ke battled the bridge crew, the Arb'te and Kamigrto commander dueled. Their leader was no warrior, however, and with a defiant squeal, fell to the Arb'te's blade. Wasting no time, the Arb'te copied the schematics of the ship, handing them to a Nra'ke and telling him to make sure it got back to their scientists. One squad remained with the Arb'te as he sent the others to return planet side. He and the squad quickly sealed the bridge and turned the ship's weapons on their enemies. The fleet already in disarray, the sudden attack by one of their own crippled them. With the combined power of the Levianeili fleet and the Kamigrto cruiser, the enemy fleet quickly started to withdraw. One ship, however, charged headfirst despite its damage at the flagship, on obvious kamikaze attack. Despite throwing everything they had at it, it would not be deterred. As it came within seconds off impact, the Arb'te let out a violent roar of victory as he was engulfed in flames when the ship exploded. The remaining enemy ships, few in number, shot into hyperspace with flames leaking from all over them. No more Kamigrto ships came, which lead the Sangheli to assume they hadn't survived the trip. The victory against the Kamigrto further served to unite the Sangheili people. In addition, the acquiring of the hyperspace and shield technology served to further strengthen the Levianeili army. For the next hundred years, the Levianeili rebuilt and grew, finally having a period of peace in which they could recuperate their empire. With the ability to jump to hyperspace now accessible to them, they started to explore further from their home, just in case they were ever attacked again. In the year 4294 BBY, the Levianeili finally broke into the Inner Rim worlds. Several years after that, Levianeili, while still rare to see, had started to appear on other worlds other than their own. Finally, in the year 4199 BBY, the Levianeili reached the Core and started to were recognized by galactic society.
