Project Night Reaver
- From the Logs of General Arghraut Head Scientist of Night Reaver Program -
The year is 3,976 and reports are coming in through the Office of Military Intelligence of a pleas for help from the Outer rim. War has broken out across the galaxy, the Mandalorians are attacking Republic holdings in the Outer Rim, strengthing their base of opperations before a thrust into Republic space in the mid rims. They are using intelligent mechanical beast that are proving more than difficult to eradicate and destroy. In order for the Republic to survive this we must develop something to combat these beast. I have the honor to lead a group of scientist in weapons development to create a droid capable of with standing these machines, today is the day that Project Night Reaver has been approved and we shall begin work immediately.

It was 3,976 the out break of the event that would be named the Mandalorian wars. A group of like minded beings all under the banner of Mandalore and a call of battle have risen up together and begun to siege the outer rim worlds of the Republic. This new Mandalore has a plan that will eventually lead them to the door step of the Republic before their inevitable demise at the hands of the combined forces of the Republic and Revanchist at Malachor V in the closing days of the War. An event that would bring about a shattering of the Republic in order to strengthen them against a common enemy that was lurking in the shadows waiting to strike. It is a time of great turmoil and despair when a need for heros and defenders of the Republic are heard being cried out from the citizens. The Mandalorians use a war machine known as the Basilisk war droid, capable of tearing down structures, moaning down soldiers, and rolling over barricades in the ever present danger of the war. The republic has no way to fully fight these beast with out a high loss of life and it was this fear that allowed Project Night Reaver to be approved by the military chain of command under direct order of the Chancellor of the Republic.
Project Night Reaver is the brain child of General Arghraut, a respected military mind and loved scientist of the science community. He worked day and night with a team of scientist to develop the Night Reaver, a terrifying and collosal machine of war. Each droid was to be the best in their field and be able to withstand a full blast of a sonic wave given off by the Basilik war droids. It was only because of a limit amount of funds and resources that Project Night Reaver was able to crank out a small handful of these war droids that would see action in the later parts of the Mandalorian conflict. The first of these droids would not see action until the Second battle of Onderon and only in a limit capacity as the Military didnt trust the droids enough to deliver on their part.
Had these droids been given a greater part in the war though they would have shown how great of an asset they could be and more funding would have been given to produce these beheamoths of war. This was not the case as they where placed into positions that often included guard duty of munitions depots and military barracks far from the main line of battle. Those few that did see any battle at all though proved their worth as they stood strong against the Mandalorian onslaught, often saving hundreds of republic soldiers lives in the process.
Construction of Night Reaver
In order to properly combat the basilisk war droids and Mandalorians the Republic Military weapons research department knew they would need to not only create a weapon that was purely the image of the Republic forces, but to also incorporate Mandalorian and Basilisk technology into their new weapons to increase the deadly capabilites of the weapons. They started off with a basic skeletal structure of Durasteel reinforced with Duralloy allowing the Skeletal structure not only to be strong, but also to be light weight. The outer shell that comprised the main human look of the War Droids which was constructed of a Durasteel/Dallorian alloy that allowed the external structure to be incredibly resiliant to Heat and cold. It could also with stand high pressures and blast directly to their chasis.
Each unit was equipped with an Advanced AA-1 VerboBrain, the same that are used in the 3PO series that allowed them to communicate in 6 million forms. These advanced VerboBrains also allowed the Night Reavers a higher computing process compaired to the various other War Droids that where being used in combat. Coupled with the VerboBrain was an Advanced TranLang III Communicator Module to help in the communication abilites of the Night Reavers out in the field. The Night Reavers where capable of seeing into the Ultraviolet and Infrared Spectrum along with the visible spectrum that most species saw into. Each Night Reaver was equipped with a Spare Parts kit to repair any damage done to the body, systems or weapons on the Night Reaver. The developers also saw fit to instal a set of Magnetic Foot pads on the Reaver's to allow their deployment on the outsides of Ship hulls as an extra ship to ship mounted weapon.
To ensure their maximum performance the scientist responsible for the Night Reaver Project were able to get their hands on two corpse of Basilisk war droids that where taken and hidden by the Republic on the field of battle. From these two droids the scientist where able to develop their own type of Pulse Wave Cannons. The largets of these Pulse wave cannons where installed in the chest of the Night Reavers and smaller versions where placed in the Night Reavers left arm as a back up for the main weapon installed in the chest.
