System:
Richord is the only inhabbited "planet" in the Retulan system. It's a very small system, not very well known. All planets in the system have been destroyed by unknown forces, and only one planet and it's one moon remains: Richord and Retulan, the latter being a large dead ball of clay that hovers around the sun. The system is close to the outer rims.
Size:
About the same size as the fist death-star.
Landscapes:
The moon is tiny, allmost too small to have variations in the climate. It is covered in beautifull forrest and mountains. Only one sea called the Laurentine Lake exists on the planet as water supply along with a few smaller lakes.
Capital:
Carthmore.
A beautifull city, ancient in appearence. It is build on the top of the flat mountain Carthmore, which is also they heighest point on the moon. Inside the mountain, a giant shield generater was build some years ago. The city is very well protected, considering the role it plays on galatical basis, but then again, many important people have summerhouses build here. The mountain of Carthmore makes up for the bigger part of the island called Carthmore isle, that lies in the middle of Laurentine Lake.
Fame:
The Moon is reknown for it's very proficient bodyguards, that are educated at the Guardian academy.
Also, the planet has a culture of melee combat, and along with the invention of the lightsaber, a lookalike version of the lightsaber was invented on Richord. For generations even beofre the invention of the lightsaber, Richordians have been training in melee combat, and it is a fact that a Richordian soldier can alsmost match a jedi when it comes to melee combat(of course, the jedi have the little thing called the force that DOES give them the extra edge they need to win such a contest).
Richordians are not only known for their skill in melee combat, but also their skill to craft them.
Richord is reknown for their duels, amongst the nobles. It is tradition that one nobleman can claim the office of another by killing him in a duel with Light-blades(weaker versions of lightsabers). Usually, these are faught with light-foils(rapier like version of a lightsaber, still much weaker).
many fairytales and famous novels has their origin on Richord, yet the rest of the galaxy seems oblivious to this.
Note: While most melee-freaks around the galaxy might somehow recognize a Richordian blade, they would know it only as that, and not realize that Richord is a moon.
Focus:
Except for what they are famous for, they focus a great deal on farming.
Current culture:
Politics:
Democratic - Utterly.
The moon is a part of the republic. each year they vote on how they wish to have their planet led. A royal family exists on the planet, ready to lead if the people votes for monarchy, as it is the duty of the royal on Richord.
There are many people on Richord who loves the idea of a galactic empire, and thus would sympathize with any strong dicatators. This is fully accepted on Richord, as all oppinions are taken into account. Currently the planet is led by one of the many noble families(that functions as political parties), as it has been for so many years. Currently the jedi supportive family of Outrider is the leading party.
Traditions:
Duels(read further above under fame).
Traning:
Most Richordian nobles are trained in sword fighting from when they reach an appropriate age( around 3, they slowly start playing with swords and so on, to finally when they are adults graduate and be known as swordmasters). While only nobles are required to reach the rank of Blademaster, most peasants also train with swords out of traditions. Many sports fancy replacements of swords in the form of sticks.
Faith:
The Richordians believe in the force. They call it the Alnuhrah.
They believe that the force is about choice. Everyone is equal in that manner, because we are all part of the force, and they have based their politics upon this.
Force sensitve Rule: For odd reasons, many force sensitives are located on Richord, but because of the planets tiny population, they have long ago decided only to give up the elite of their population for force-training. Only one person may be given up for traning per family per generation, and only nobles may be trained in the way of the force ( the truth is that many force sensitives weaker than the ordinary are born, and thus, it would ruin the planet if this rule was not in place. And this way only the strongest are given up).
Education:
While only the nobles are required to take on a "full education"(Like a phd), Richord taked great pride in their education system that lets even the poorest peasant study for anything he wishes to be, except ofcourse a forceuser.
Farming:
The moon is pretty much self-sustaining, but ofcourse imports and exports wares.
Mining:
While a dead ball of clay, the planet that Richord hovers around is a rich supply of minerals, and as of lately, a mining outpost was created... This is a new project and more of a break in the traditions.
History:
It is unknown how humans came to inhabbit the moon, but they did. Records speak of a prophet of the Alnuhrah that lived under the flat mountain, and of his skill with blades and his insight of the future. It is confirmed that the religion of the moons inhabbitants dates back to this point, and it is also confirmed that Richords culture was based on this religion.
In many ways, the ancient Richord was much like the vision of Rome. A monarch had the last say in everything, while the noble families debated things in court, acting as the voices of the peasants living under them.
The way of the blade was the way of the Richordian and duels were common even at this time, when the planet was seriously under-unhabbited. Many times, the humans of Richord came close to dying out without even realizing. Along with the founding of the galactic republic, the great reform came to Richord, and their "over democratic" system was imposed. Since then, the roll of the royals have been representing the moon, and being ready for when the day should come and the people vote for monarchy once more. Also they are judges in court.
