Terrain Overview:
Sandy desert forms a band around the planet with the equator at the center. as you approach the poles, the land becomes progressively firmer until you reach the canyons and worn mountains that form the polar caps. These rocky formations are riddled with various kinds of caves ranging from labyrinthine to hardly more than shallow pits.
The entire planet is almost always windswept.
All water is subterranean.

History:
Vulur is home to the shamanic Vulu and has remained virtually untouched for thousands of years due to it's remote location in the Outer Rim. It's the only planet in it's system and, due to it's tremendous winds, often deterred starships from landing.
Around 3745 BBY, smugglers attempted to hide on the planet only to be confronted with the suspicious Vulu. They came away with slaves in return with the Spice they'd been carrying. This encounter led to a 99 year Era of sparse Spice, Slave, and Weapons trade to Vulur.
Due to the atrophy of their culture, the Vulu instated a violent isolationist policy to all outsiders who were to land on Vulur around the year 3645 BBY.
It was only in the past couple years that their aggressive isolationism has laxed and they have allowed their own to travel offworld, although offworlders are still unwelcome.
