History:
20,000 - 15,000 BBY
Twenty thousand years before the battle of Yavin marked the end of the expansionist era of the Republic, and the beginning of the Great Manifest period. During this time the Republic began a rapid expansion outwards from the Core worlds, and with it the Holy Order of Jedi Knights were sent out for the protection of the various colonists as they make forge their own path on strange, but dangerous new worlds.
One particular colony ship, the "Alesia" was bound for one particular set of co-ordinates far from its port world of Coruscant. At the time the planet was designated as LV-425 on what passed for Star Maps, but that soon wouldn't matter. Miscalculations can prove to be deadly when one is participating in interstellar travel.
Fortunately, for the crew of the Alesia, this particular miscalculation didn't prove to be deadly. By a simple stroke of luck, or the will of the Force, they entered their new system with no knowledge of their error. Not until they came out of hyperspace in a low orbit of the planet. Unfortunately navigation and piloting control wasn't nearly what it was back then. The massive colony ship smashed into one of the few plateau's of the Illyrian mountain range.
Most of the multi-thousand occupants of the colony ship died in the crash, but a few hundred managed to survive due to either "luck", or the Healing powers of their Jedi. It didn't take them long to forge a new life on their strange new world. Some of the ten or so Jedi were quick to forget their code, some weren't so quick, but in the end they all took a spouse in the name of secure the future of the survivors. Their children were trained, and within a few generations most of the population was Force Sensitive in varying degrees.
What little technology they had was salvaged as best they could, but all of it required power in some form or another. So, ironically enough, they found themselves literally blasted back to the stone age. Their recovery would have been quicker if it weren't for the terrifying creatures that walked, crawled, and flew about the planet.
The first encountered was a terrifying hairless gorrilla like creature that stood about one and a half stories tall. If the Jedi hadn't been about, it likely would have slaughtered the survivors to a man. Instead, however, they dispatched the beast with a copious use of their Force Powers. This was soon called a troll.
The second wasn't nearly as aggressive as the first, but was far from receptive to the strange primates happening across their hunting grounds. Creatures that looked to be half lion and half bird would swoop down and carry hapless hunters off to their nest to feed their young. Again, the Jedi saved the Alesians from their plight by hunting Griffons down. They did not eradicate them, however, instead the began the lengthy process of domesticating their young for massive mounts. It took thousands upon thousands of years, but this was accomplished eventually.
The third was a terrifying creature. Its ferocity was second only to its powerful jaws. This was called the Dire Hound. It was as tall as a man at the shoulder, and in the gargantuan form of a wolf in the mountains. Again, the Jedi's descendants managed to fight off the ferocious packs of Dire Hounds. These creatures could never seem to be exterminated, no matter how many packs were slain. But they are few in number as of current times... only to be seen in the darkest caves or in the deepest parts of the Darcari wilds.
Five thousand galactic standard years after the "loss" of the Alesia, the "survivors" would have found that their descendants thrived under their conditions. They even managed to form many nations on the continent of Lyria, and unlock the secrets to the deft crafting of bronze.
The descendants of the Jedi had albeit forgotten the ancient art of crafting terrifying Force Weapons and relegated themselves to using the same bronze weapons that the other nations used. They also renamed and reformed themselves. The Templars quickly became something that the people of Alesia relied upon to settle civil disputes, dethrone tyrants, and just protect citizens from extraordinary threats.
The Force was no longer named such as well. Thousands of years of superstition and slang from a civilized turned primitive people had changed its name to "Magic", as well as the various schools and disciplines that fell under its reach.
14,999 - 10,000 BBY
Just past the five thousand year mark is when the Templars had a great schism. Nearly half of them wanted to rule the world that was so content in allowing them to guard, and used their great influence to rally an army against the Forces of the world. The war lasted nearly fifty years, and claimed many lives on both sides.
The Templars won the war, however, and cast the remaining rebels through the Aithrea pass. It was certain death, mostly due to the superstition of the primative people who lived on the world. The exiles did not die, of course, and this action would come back to Alesians. But that would not be for thousands of years, until then... the rebels would form their own government with the fallen knights at the head of their society. They would form an Empire.
