Actually, Hoth has been discovered. It was discovered around the same time the Krath formed, many, many years ago. Even before KotOR...

Hoth's existence was known throughout the galaxy as early as 4,000 BBY.

Sorta unrelated factoid: The Krath formed the same year they built the mining colony on Peragus II.
