Senator-napping! [Civilian/Fringe/etc.]

All righties... this is for anyone who signed up in [this] thread involving the kidnapping of my senator Irrina Icharus. [profile link]

Villains:
- Darvek Mavros [Greystone]
- NPC baddie [Greystone]

Heroes:
- Rune Oki [Ghostie]
- Kalan D'ravk [juzt]
- Ofi/AER-05 [Mara NPC]


Now I know I still need to fill out the rescuers/heroes... but I figure we can start the discussion as most of this doesn't necessarily directly concern them.

Plot ideas from the original thread:

Original--

My thought is this would be somewhat similar to the plot in AOTC against Padme, except that I don't want Ina killed, just kidnapped away. And as for the motive, I'm not 100% sure, but it could be something like a vote in the Senate (like with the Padme situation) or it could just be some opposing senators who just don't like what she's trying to stir up with her 'silly' campaign to end slavery and have equality for all... the horrors!

And so these evil senators (for whatever reason I'll decide later) have hired mercs/bounty hunters/whomever'll do the job to kidnap her for a while to just send her a message (or keep her away from a vote, if we go that route). Maybe there'll be a fake ransom, I dunno.

Obviously she'll be rescued eventually, since I plan on her getting split from Ofi, her AER droid, by said Ofi and whomever Ofi can find. But I'll be asking for heroes later. Right now I just want to see if there's any interest in the villains side of the equation.

New-ish--

One -- keep it all the same, as stated in the opening post.

Two -- her father is kidnapped instead, and she and Ofi (and maybe friends) go to rescue him.
[Her farther works in medical R&D on Arkania, and could probably be useful to many shady folks].

Three -- both Ina and her father are kidnapped... either he is kidnapped first, and she is later, to get her father to cooperate with whomever wants her father's talents... or vice versa.

Basically what I think the main point here is whether Ina is kidnapped because of her own actions, or if she is kidnapped because of her father's work in order to persuade him to cooperate.
Whether the villains behind this whole mess, who hired your mercs, are senators or some evil corporation.


Obviously the original idea would be the easiest, but the others could be a bit more interesting. Plus, there'd be more plausibility I think to capturing her father, than her. Probably more at stake in his line of work, and I don't know that most senators would capture a rival just to 'send a message.'


But it's something for us to decide on together.

All right, guys... thoughts on what we should do?
Kidnap the senator for her views?
Kidnap her father for his connections and skills and then kidnap the senator to get him to talk?

I've stated my own thoughts and ideas, but I'd like to hear from the rest of you, since you'll need some sort of backstory of who hired y'all to do the kidnapping and why.

I say kidnapped for the views. If I understand it right, she's very anti slavery and doesn't shut her mouth when she needs to. If she's helping to convince a certain planet to stop it's practice of slavery, and there's someone who's disgustingly rich as a result of such a practice? That seems to me to be the most likely.

I don't think her father should have any involvement. Case in point, no one's going to kidnap a member of the ruling body of the Republic for this. Especially not now as the Republics going to war with the sith. It seems like if she isn't the main target, there's no point to this.

For the personnel, I'm a bit concerned on the villains side. I'm sure if it was thrown out there a bit more we could fill up the hero's section no problem. But for the villains, I'm not really seeing a team leader. The only actual applicable are Vako and Fesnaan. Kelhund hasn't been on for nearing a month, and his character isn't approved. The other applicant there seems a little bit on the good side, and not likely to fit in with the Catman Gladiator and the Racist Gasbag bird.

Motive of 'why' doesn't stick out to me as much as 'how' this is going to happen. Like what the circumstances are to capture the senator in the first place. Until we have our teams set up though, that'll probably be a bit hard to figure out.

Plus, I have just remembered that Ina's droid/friend Ofi (AER-05) will probably be joining the rescue team... so it's up to you guys whether you think we'll need any soldiers or a third Jedi.


I just need to touch base with Sin, see if he's still in, and get another bad guy signed up, and we should be good to get started.

Well, if the droid is at least okay with a blaster or some other weapon, we should be fine. Rune has faith in Kalan.

Oh, yes... she's actually the assassin model of the AER droids, and comes equipped with a holdout blaster. And vibroblades on her wing tips (if I remember right).

I am really surprised that we're only looking at two villains here (pending if Sin is still on). I would have thought there'd be more interest. But with the amount of heroes we're looking at, we villains either have to come up with a really good plan, or this is gonna be a real short mission.

Trist -- with two Jedi and an assassin droid, I think we're okay on the heroes side. Plus, for future reference, sign-ups would be in the RP request board thread, not here in the plot disc. thread.


As for the villains... I think we could make it work with two... esp. if you guys maybe have an NPC thug or something. I mean, really, all you guys are hired to do is kidnap a deaf senator. It shouldn't be a hard job. ;p

Getting the senator isn't the problem. Its getting away with her that's the trouble.

Villains side --

But anyway... before we get into that, we should probably finalize the reasons behind the kidnapping in the first place.

Since the consensus seems to be my original idea, that it's because of her stance and views (and to not involve her father)... we need to decide who's behind it all. Should it be rival senators, or just an unhappy bureaucrat somewhere? Or maybe both, working together?

And then, we need a bit more of a motive. No matter who is behind it all, are they doing it just to send her a message? Do they want a ransom? Are they just trying to keep her away from a vote or a meeting or something like that?

Oh, and the location... I'm guessing it shouldn't be a Republic-controlled planet... probably not Sith either. Ideas?



Heroes side --

My initial thought was that, after she's separated from Ina, Ofi goes looking for help. And obviously for someone she feels she can trust and actually be productive in helping her. So she skips the Republic channels and goes right to the Jedi.
Or maybe she gets to the Channcellor and the Chancellor asks the Jedi to get involved. Perhaps she feels obligated to after the news breaks out that a senator is missing and presumed kidnapped.

So I suppose the issue here is how Ofi and the Jedi would meet up with each other and start the search.

I sent a PM off to Fromikeable. He's very good about activity, and we seem to work pretty well with eachother. Whether or not he thinks his character Horst would be interested has yet to be seen, but I just thought I'd check.

- Villains

I think the 'who' it would be is probably a rival senator, in my opinion a slave holding one with many slave holding friends. If she keeps blathering on about how slavery is bad, then they will likely lose a lot of money, and that would do it.

As for motive, no to keeping her from the vote, and no to the ransom. Her one vote is hardly enough to turn the tide in a vote she's already persuaded people on, and ransom doesn't seem likely since the people hiring mercenaries to capture a senator is probably already rich. If it was for a ransom, then it would just be the villains who were doing it, and no higher power hiring them.

I think sending a message is best, but the idea being to not just send a message to her. It would be to send a message to any other like minded senators that you might go missing too if they keep it up.

I like the 'chancellor calls them' idea. Namely because it means the villains get away.
