Coming in standard matte gunmetal grey and copper, its handle is short and fits comfortably into the hand, and the scope fits seamlessly along the barrel. Function The Novis Marksman is an efficient weapon for those who prefer precise attacks rather than a flurry of shots. Each shot is very powerful, able to blast through all but the toughest personal armour and shields with little issue. Internal stablisers minimises the kinetic kickback to prevent severe recoil after each shot and allow the next attack to be lined up more quickly, as well as possessing a charge capacitor that allows the user to double the power of a fired bolt (at the expense of ammunition; each charged shot costs the same power as three regular shots). The mounted targeting scope, in conjunction to the long barreling and high-power blasts, assists to make even distant attacks a feasible option, with some records showing that, in the hands of an experienced shooter, even at one hundred meters the pistol remained accurate and with only minimal loss of power. Many who thought themselves outside the effective range of the Novis Marksman have found themselves unpleasantly surprised when more bolts kept landing from well beyond what they assumed possible. The trade off for such power and accuracy comes in the form of low fire rate and ammunition capacity. At its fastest the Novis Marksman can only manage one shot every one point five seconds for a regular bolt (doubled to three seconds after overcharging a shot) and each power cell holds enough energy for thirty shots before requiring to be switched out for a fresh cell, though the pistol was designed to allow for swift reloading and the power cells themselves are quite compact. Each shot also results in distinctive and disturbing high-pitched snap that, while potentially fear-inducing for opponents in combat with the user, makes it impossible to utilise if one wishes to be stealthy. |
