His four arms, ending in claw-like appendages, are often held together before him, the small pair controlling his mobility device while the larger two remain curled comfortably in front of him. Despite his bizarrely alien appearance, it is hard not to see the constant twinkling warmth in his amber coloured eyes, not dissimilar to a kindly grandfather looking at a favoured grandchild. In contrast to his bulky appearance, his voice is light and melodic, something that often takes those who do not know him by surprise. Moho always speaks in a soft tone, and no-one ever remembers the Prellian Jedi ever having raised it, even during dire circumstances. Though he is often sent to be among august company on diplomatic missions, Moho only ever wears the simple robes of his Order. In a similar vein, his Prellian manufactured hoverchair is plainly decorated, though like many of his world's technological exports it possesses an elegant look with no sharp edges. His lightsaber is much the same, though rarely ever used. Personality Profile Moho is a paragon of Prellian virtues. He possesses an ever-curious mind that drives him to learn new things and improve on that which he already knows. His forte is generally considered the knowledge of the Force, but he also has a wealth of understanding on several subjects, such as electronics and medicine. This can push him into disputes with other Jedi on occasion, as Moho is willing to hear out many different points of view that his fellows in the Order may consider dangerously close to the Dark Side. The kindly and gentle Moho has a distinct aversion to conflict and violence, to the point that he never really draws his lightsaber in combat. Instead, he takes a more supportive role in the Order, meeting with diplomats and dignitaries on many different worlds to help smooth over disagreements and avert any escalation of hostilities. He has developed a decent political mind over the years, but will always prioritise helping people over the needs of the ruling few. When called upon in war, Moho provides his skills in Battle Meditation and Force Healing to assist in battle rather than involve himself on the front lines directly. Several enemies of both the Order and the Republic that have come in contact with Master Moho have seen this as a sign that the he is individually weaker than his more battle-ready brothers and sisters, and attempted to assassinate him to rout the forces he helps lead. These people often find themselves grossly mistaken; too late they realise that Moho's powers in telekinesis are on par with the highest members of his Order, watch bolts and blades deflect off of invisible shields, or see wounds that should have killed him outright heal before their eyes. Others find they have been outmaneuvered, caught in an ambush or otherwise trapped as they try to strike the Prellian Jedi down, as if he already knew that they were coming. Moho is just as patient with his enemies as he is with his allies. Though he understands that the chances of him convincing enemy soldiers to lay down their arms willingly is slim to none, the Jedi will never fail to try. Even when confronted with those of the Dark Side, Moho would offer them another way out, even as they attack him. However, the dreadful algebra of life is not a something Moho would shy away from calculating. If having to choose ending the life of an unrepentant murderer to save the lives of innocents, he would bend his mind to the task with terrible force. Moho simply hopes that he brings more peace to this galaxy than not. There, his body grew and matured while his mind and emotional state remained non-existant until the last handful of years. And like the rest of the hatchlings, Moho was tested for Force sensitivity and was discovered to be one of the few of his species to have developed it. As such, once his body had matured enough, Moho underwent the surgical procedure to be able to leave his planet to be trained as a Jedi in the ways of the Force. 3939 BBY His time as a youngling at the Temple was difficult at first. Larger than many fully grown adults but still with the mind of a child, Moho stuck out more than most of his fellow students. Many of the other children were afraid of him at first, given his size. But Moho was patient and, as time went on and the younglings got to know him, they found the Prell to be a kind-hearted and gentle soul. Indeed, the Jedi instructors were impressed by how Moho's quiet encouragement could spur his fellow students on to greater heights, and felt that the Force was surely at play. The lessons themselves varied greatly for Moho in difficulty. Ponderous and slow outside of the water, the Prell had to rely heavily on the exo-rig he received from his people to remain mobile. As a result, physical lessons such as lightsaber combat proved to be quite difficult for him to gain much proficiency in, despite the technology's high standard of function. In his more academic and spiritual studies, however, he gained far more traction. Moho took to the lessons on the Jedi Code and lectures on patience and diplomacy like a fish to water. While training in the use of the Force proper, the Moho stood head and shoulders above his classmates, his inadequacy with the lightsaber more than made up for by his strength in the Force. It was during this time that the young Moho caught the eye of Maalon Del, an Ithorian Jedi well-renowned for his skills in both diplomacy and healing. The Jedi Master saw a lot of himself in the strange youngling, and the Ithorian took special care to keep up to date with Moho's progress. Nearing the end of his time as a youngling, Moho began to experience powerfully vivid dreams; of places he had never been, faces he did not know, planets he did not recognise. Some were benign, of rolling fields and peaceful silence. Others were horrifying, of battlefields carpeted with the dead and images of his own face darkened with blood and rage. All were jumbled and confusing, hazy and unclear. Fearful of these sudden visions, Moho rejected them altogether and tried to refuse them entry into his mind. He was only ever partly successful, with the dreams coming less regularly, but just as strong nevertheless. As the time of his Trials came, Moho's performance was mostly satisfactory, though his lack of mobility concerned some of the masters. Master Maalon Del, however, saw great potential in the young Prell and took Moho on as his Padawan. 3928 BBY Under the tutelage of Master Maalon, Moho learned a great many things. Together they visited worlds touched by civil unrest, war, and sickness, and he watched as the Ithorian Jedi soothed tensions, brought angry factions to peace, and heal the wounded and ill. The more Moho saw of conflict, the more he tried to turn away. Maalon, however, bid him to look, to see for himself what resulted from disharmony, greed, rage. Instead of warning Moho away from these things, the Ithorian taught him to accept them as a piece of the tapestry of existence. That one could never halt the tide, but one could assist in helping it turn for the better, and build something stronger for having endured. Moho learned that to ensure you saw the whole of a thing, one could not blind oneself to half of it. Among these lessons, Moho was taught the skills required to navigate the complex maze of diplomacy. Though baffling to him at first, Moho soon picked up on complicated social cues, subtle language, and the minefield that galactic politics presented for those who stepped within it. Their time together helped Moho open up more to his master, and he explained the horrible dreams he had. Maalon revealed that he had known of them for some time, but had wanted his student to feel comfortable enough to confront them himself by coming to his master. Though the Ithorian was no expert of visions, the two of them delved into the Archives to learn together and, as Moho acquired more knowledge, the visions became clearer and less invasive. They no longer plagued his dreams, but came upon him while in deep meditation. As the years went by and the lessons reached their inevitable climax, Moho was deemed ready to take the Jedi Trials. Master Maalon chose to send the young Moho on three missions for his Trials. The first was a diplomatic task to test his skills in settling peaceful disputes. Though encountering some initial difficulties upon his arrival due to his obvious alien physiology, Moho was able to get both sides to sit down and compromise after uncovering the reason for the dispute was a domestic issue involved one party's spouse and the other party's son. The impact of a galactic scale was minor, but positive trade went up a point zero zero seven percent in the sector after his involvement. The second test was far more intense; Moho was to attempt to bring peace between two currently warring factions on a low-tech world only recently inducted into the Republic. This would prove to be a particularly grueling task for the gentle Moho, who's initial patient and peaceful approach did not go over well with the warrior-civilisation. This eventually resulted in both factions joining together to attack and try to kill Moho. Afraid, badly injured, and, for the first time in his life, angry, the young Padawan reached deep and decided to make the tribal warriors listen. All the fight suddenly left the warriors. Some froze on the spot, others dropped their weapons. Most fled. Moho, upon seeing their morale almost visibly drain from them, knew it would be but a simple task to force his way into their minds and chose peace for them. But he stopped. He recalled his teachings, his master's words, and stepped aside from the moment and back from the edge. Moho chose once more the path of patience and, his strength now known to the tribes, they listened to his words more readily. Territories were picked out and settled, and the war came to an uneasy end. Before facing his last trial, Moho confided in Master Maalon about what happened during his time during the second mission. He confessed to the Ithorian Jedi what he had felt, what he had done, what he had almost done. The Jedi Master simply put a hand on his Padawan's shoulder and said: "You must trust in your training, young one. Trust in your experiences, all of your experiences. And most importantly of all, trust in your heart. For it is a good heart, Moho." The young Jedi was directed to a chamber, where he was told to meditate on the Force. He did as instructed, and soon fell into a deep trance. He jerked awake to find the chamber gone; in its place was a rolling field, quiet and peaceful, empty save for a distant figure. Moho went to approach, only to find he was no longer in his exo-rig. Stuck, he called out to the figure, but they did not turn. The Padawan reached out to call the Force to him, to lift himself up, but it was as if it had gone utterly silent. Crawling, dragging his body along the ground with legs not developed enough to move his bulk unaided, Moho was finally able to reach the unknown figure. They turned, and Moho reeled back when he saw his own face, only filled with rage and darkened by blood. The figure asked Moho if he enjoyed the peace they had wrought, and as they spoke the beautiful grasslands warped, becoming filled with dead bodies. The figure loomed over Moho, asking again if this was not peaceful. Swallowing his horror, Moho replied that it was not peace, simply silence. He told the figure that there was no peace to be found in anger, only a descent into more rage. His doppelganger lashed out at him, striking the Padawan across the face. Moho do not defend himself, only pulled his weight back into an upright position and was struck again, and again, and again. Moho remained unmoved, in the eye of a storm, and began reciting the Code out loud. Emotion, yet peace. Ignorance, yet knowledge. Passion, yet serenity. Chaos, yet harmony. Death, yet the Force. As he opened his eyes, Moho saw he was back in the meditation chamber. Maalon entered and helped the young Jedi up, then lead him to a darkened room where several other masters stood. They proceeded to remove the silka beads from his head and proclaimed him a Jedi Knight. 3916 BBY Now a full member of the Order, Moho would be sent all over the galaxy on diplomatic missions. However, the Prell soon decided to dedicate his life to the discovery of lost artifacts and secrets of the Force as well as peacekeeping missions, so that he might expand his knowledge and that of his Order. Through these journeys, Moho learned to refine his abilities. His ability to inspire friends and demoralise foes improved notably, and his visions came easier and clearer. It was on one of these missions, about fifty years or so after he became a full Jedi, that he made contact with a human female called Helio Sao, an archeologist who also sought out items that were either thought destroyed or pure fiction. The Prellian Jedi thought highly of the woman's endlessly optimistic attitude and, when their paths eventually diverted, the two often remained in touch to swap stories or get the other's expertise. So when Helio contacted him with a claim that she was close to tracking down an ancient Jedi holocron, Moho was on a ship as fast as his exo-rig could get him there. Together, the pair traveled to a dying world and into a overgrown temple. Inside they discovered the place was indeed an old Jedi construct, but there was clear signs of battle on the walls and floors. The deeper they went, the more these signs became apparent, with various humanoid and alien remains scattered around, all leading towards a single chamber in the temple. Moho was shocked and somberly delighted to discover that the room was an archive, albeit one that seemed to be entirely empty. The possibility of even one remaining book, datapad or holocron filled Moho's heart with joy and he and Helio set up a camp and quickly began the search, albeit with the Jedi warning the archeologist not to stray too far. Almost a week passed, the archive proving to be vacant of almost any knowledge save for one or two corrupted or destroyed dataslates. Moho was still enthused, taking recordings of the architecture and artistic etchings, but Helio had started to become withdrawn and quiet. Moho found she had started going off on her own for hours, always in the same direction, and when questioned she became... prickly. Then one evening, she never came back at all. Concerned for his friend, Moho investigated and found an open hidden door. Sensing something wrong within and his concern growing even more, the Jedi went inside to find, to his dismay, Helio curled up on the floor and very dead. Though her cause of death was not physically apparent, the intact holocron on a pedestal in the center of the room was clearly the source of the wrongness he felt. Removing his friends remains and respectfully covering her up, Moho returned to the holocron to inspect it. Though he had never seen one in the flesh, his studies indicated that it was a Sith holocron, a vessel of Dark Side power and knowledge. Despite his caution, his innate curiosity drew him to it. He had learned so much about the Light Side, and knew so little of the Dark Side beyond the vague warnings of his Jedi instructors. The whole picture was obscured, and he had only half of it. Though the act of doing so took every ounce of his willpower, Moho was able to activate the device. A hologram of a hooded figure appeared, quiet at first, but when it saw who had brought it to be, it seemed amicable to his presence. It inquired as to why he had activated the holocron, noting that he was not Sith. Moho confirmed this, stating that he was Jedi and curious about the Dark Side. The holocron offered Moho a trade: in exchange for knowledge, the Jedi was to ensure the holocron's arrival back into Sith hands. Moho refused, offering instead to bring him to the Jedi Temple to ensure the holocron would not fall into the wrong hands. The hologram insisted that it would mean the Prellian Jedi would not gain the knowledge he sought. Moho simply stated that while he could always find another source to learn from, the hologram would very likely never find another person that could take him away from the dying world. The Sith hologram seemed impressed by Moho's tough bargaining, and acquiesced to the Jedi's deal. The Jedi made it clear he had no interest in acquiring power from the Dark Side, but insight about it. The holocron gave Moho a new perspective into the other side of the Force, as well as teaching him how to speak the Sith language, lessons the hologram seemed pleasantly surprised to be asked about. When Moho gained all he had wished to gain, he proceeded to gather up his gear, the holocron, and the remains of his friend, and departed the planet. The holocron cause quite a stir at the Temple, as did the other data Moho had retrieved from the lost temple. As it turned out, Moho's return was rather auspicious, as a new crop of younglings were to be tested in the Trials and, as the Prellian Jedi had yet to take a Padawan, he was encouraged to inspect them. 3860 BBY The younglings all had potential, but one of them stood out to Moho. A Zabrak girl called Jarga Geeth who, upon investigation, had reported issues with patience, a shorter fuse than others, and a tendency to act before thinking. The Prellian Jedi would later receive a vision of Jarga, swathed in dark and furious energies, and feared that she would eventually fall to the Dark Side. Moho believed that as her contrast, he could help her find some measure of inner calm and took her on as his Padawan. Although the master and student differed greatly in both temperament and philosophy, over the years Moho's gentle nature seemed to have some effect of Jarga, softening her hot-tempered edge somewhat. But she still was always quick to act and speak out, never pondering things through. This eventually lead to her downfall; while on a diplomatic mission, an assassin was able to kill the politician that Jarga was assigned by Moho to protect. The Zabrak gave in to her anger and killed the assassin, searching the man's belongings before vanishing into the city. Moho, sensing her destiny perched on a razor edge, reached out through the Force to find her and felt her rage consuming her, driving her towards the assassin's co-conspirators. The Prell raced to beat her there, only to arrive a few seconds behind her. The young Zabrak held a man by the throat through the Force, choking the life from him. Moho spoke to Jarga, asking what she was trying to do. She responded with the obvious: she intended to kill the man because he arranged the murder of her charge, due to promises of a better position and because the politician had swiped some construction contracts he had been eyeing. When Moho simply asked "Why?", Jarga seemed confused, claiming that it was what the man deserved, that because of his greed and envy another living being was dead. Her master calmly pointed out to her that if that were the case, slaying the man to satisfy her own need for vengeance made her no better. Jarga denied it, claiming that she was doling out justice. Moho asked her to search her feelings, and tell him if that was truly the reason for her actions. There was a pause, and Jarga finally released the man. The pair of Jedi escorted the man to the authorities and helped them locate the rest of the conspiracy. On the way back to the Temple, Jarga attempted to hand in her lightsaber to her master, claiming that she had let him down and no longer felt that she could continue calling herself a Jedi. Moho responded that even the oldest and wisest of people can make mistakes, fall prey to their feelings, or get things wrong, and that the important thing was to learn from those moments, not turn away from them. Jarga decided to remain as Moho's Padawan, and eventually became a Jedi Knight as patient and kind as her master. Sadly, she would eventually give her life to protect civilians from a terrorist bomb several decades later. 3602 BBY Centuries passed by, with Moho growing in knowledge and prestige. He was given the rank of Jedi Master and eventually voted onto the High Council itself. Though the Prellian Jedi would take on several other Padawans in the years that followed Jarga, Moho eventually decided to assist in teaching the younglings as they came to the Temple, helping mold the budding generations of Jedi in their formative years. Sadly, peace is a state that can never be maintained forever, and the newly created Sith Empire declared their war on the Republic. At the same time, the Mandalorians would also strike out and take many worlds back into their fold. Though far from the first conflict the old Jedi Master had been a part of, this was undoubtedly one of the most devastating. The High Council debated and stalled as to what answer they would provide, and some Jedi broke away to help in the fighting. Moho himself was quite torn; on one hand he had no wish to turn to war, but on the other he did not want to leave millions of people to their fates by doing nothing. The road ahead was hard to see, even for him. With so many things in motion and so many forces at play, the already ever-shifting future was even more tumultuous and clouded. In the end, he offered to provide a third option: he would go to worlds under attack and attempt to find a diplomatic solution. Though thoughts among the Council were conflicting, none could really fault his motives nor his experience in finding peaceful solutions, and so Moho readied himself to go into war. Sadly, more often than not, his calls for peace were met with either attempts at assassination, demands that he and the Republic armies surrender or retreat, or were outright ignored. More than once the Jedi Master was pushed into the field, using his Battle Meditation to help end conflicts swiftly or his healing abilities to ease the suffering of the soldiers that fought. On one war-torn world, in a far cast and solitary system, Moho had a vision of an overwhelming Empire victory. It was overshadowed, however, by a titanic earthquake on a planetary scale that killed Imperial, Republic and civilian alike. As such, the Prell ordered his side to withdraw and evacuate as many civilians as they could. Unwilling to leave even those that called themselves his enemy to certain death, Moho reached out with the Force and utilised his skills to affect the Imperial leaders, convincing them that they had heard news of the coming catastrophe. The last to leave, Moho had been about to board the final remaining shuttle when he spied an enemy vessel struggling to break the atmosphere. Electing to remain behind, Moho used every last ounce of his strength to assist the ship into escaping, leaving himself trapped on a planet as it seemed about to shake itself apart. The results of the quake was disastrous. Despite the best efforts of the Republic soldiers, many people had not been able to get away in time and had perished. Moho survived, but the deaths of so many people and his own weariness left it impossible for him to center himself and reach out through the Force to his brothers and sisters in the Order. He was, for the first time in his long life, truly alone. 3592 BBY Though it took the Jedi Master over two years, he was eventually able to repair a damaged shuttle and make his way off-world. With barely enough power to break orbit, the derelict ship began drifting soon after reaching the void, but it was enough. Moho entered a deep meditative state and began calling out for any of his Order. In time, his call was heard and an investigation revealed the Jedi Master, long thought dead, was indeed alive. Retrieved from his broken down escape vessel, Moho returned to the Jedi Temple to catch up with the events that have transpired since his stranding. Once he had recovered, Moho once again began teaching, but a Force Vision pushed him into participating in a mission: responding to the distress signal from a damaged craft from Teth, the site of the then unknown Archeri Chorus. Though the mission was successful and valuable data was recovered, a great unease settled upon the old master at the influence and manner of the creatures pitted against him and his fellow Jedi Not long after this, Moho was named as the new Grand Master of the Jedi Order and he, along with several other high-ranking Jedi, made haste to Prazhi for a meeting of the Republic and Empire on a possible alliance against this common foe. |
