His face sits on a strong, square jaw that is often turned upright in a confident smile paired with soft, blue-grey eyes. After his time in the military, Aren put less and less care into his hair, both on top of his head and facial, and lets both grow to a good length before trimming them back. The only effort the man makes to wrangle the mop of dark brown hair he has is to slick it back rather loosely for more formal occasions. Given his lifestyle, Aren has a collection of scars. The worst is the marks on his right shoulder that descend down both sides into his torso, drag marks from the teeth of a Barabel. Accompanying these marks is a pair of three horizontal slashes on the right side of Aren’s torso, front and back, from the Barabel’s claws. All marks from the giant lizard being are old, faded, and yet large. After this, there is a pair of scars from a couple of blasterbolts on the left side of Aren’s abdomen. Like any good Mandalorian, Aren keeps a suit of full beskar’gam to wear while out and about in the Galaxy. Styled in the old shock trooper design from the Mandalorian Wars, the armor was originally his father's, and his grandfather’s. As such, Aren has it painted a deep, glossy crimson to honor his ancestors, and trimmed in a white. A host of weaponry in mounted on the wrists, as well as a jetpack on the back. Aren wears a shoulder cape on the left side and behind his back, mostly black with a white Mandalorian symbol in the middle. The only consistent weapon he carries is his crushguants, his blaster pistols, and a vibro-knife, and often carries a blaster carbine or a beskad when the need arises. When without his armor, Aren often wears a variety of long sleeved teeshirts, simple pants, and his boots. Often a long olive drab jacket, warm and fur-lined is thrown on when the need arises. And even without his armor, he always has his gun belt. Personality Profile Aren Fett is very much a man of two worlds. Born in the Core of the Republic, and yet as much a Mandalorian as any other hardened warrior of the culture, the man has best the both and worst traits of both sides of his life. Aren never backs down from a fight, and holds honor and clan above all. He’s blunt, and wastes no time on double-talking or dodging an issue. Yet at the same time the warrior is not as stubborn as some of brethren, and has long figured out there are multiple way to shave a Wookiee. He brings a voice of reason and calm to the Mandalorian leadership when it’s needed most, and isn’t afraid to hold his ground. The military gave Aren a loose set of moral codes, doing what seems right when faced with a decision, but perhaps what is not always lawful in whatever system he happens to be passing through. And underneath the beskar and the rough exterior, if one digs deep enough, one can find a genuine heart of gold in Aren. Given the very two different parts of his life, Aren has always searched for a place of belonging, which was found in the Fett Clan. And in some ways, he holds the Clan above the rest of the Mandalorians in his own mind. They’re family, friends, and comrades, and Aren would give of himself for any one of them. And though Aren loves the Fett Clan so, very few get to know their leader on a personal level. He does not try to be enigmatic, but such things often just occur. Though he know he belongs in the warrior culture, Aren often finds himself lonely, and wishing this wasn’t the case. He is a leader among the people, yet he finds himself without a good group of close confidants to rely on, and to support him. Aren is growing to be self-sufficient, but that doesn’t fix the ache for companions. On a personal level, Aren is a man of few words, and is usually more reserved that most of his peers. He prefers to let his actions speak, and leads from the front of the pack, giving others an example to follow. The Mandalorian is a man of routine and set disciplines, a well trained soldier, a part of the military that never left as he transitioned to the warrior culture. Aren rarely slips on responsibilities thanks to this particular trait, and finds the devil in the details and the mundane. He doesn't lack for confidence, and what others say about him rarely has an affect on his own mental image. In his down time, he likes the solace of his farm house on Concord Dawn, or a good race or shock-boxing match. Aren is, perhaps moreso that his fellow Mandalorians, untrusting of Force-users. This springs from a few bad run-ins, however, and less from superstition surrounding the Force itself. Background Father • Val Fett, Mercenary, Deceased Mother • Kyra Kiner, Office Worker, Deceased Siblings • Jyoti Fett - 31, Half Sister, Mandalorian Warrior (NPC) Jasper Fett - Deceased, Half Brother, Mandalorian Warrior Other Important Connections • Arani Fett - Deceased, Adoptive Mother, Former Leader of Clan Fett Vanel Dyson - Deceased, Former Lover Hirani Poy'ta - Deceased, Former Partner Skylar Zenar - 32, Grey Jedi and Bounty Hunter, Potential Team-Up Partner Overall History • Born in 3629 BBY on Abregado-Rae, Aren Kiner was the first and only child of the couple that was Val Fett and Kyra Kiner. Upon learning of Kyra’ pregnancy, Val was extremely dismayed at the thought of being a father, especially given his career as a mercenary. Val left the planet only a few years after Aren was born, leaving the boy with very few, faint memories of his father and his mother with a broken heart. Kyra did her best to raise Aren, but with her own medical issues, she was always in and out of work, and the pair survived just at the poverty line. For most of the beginning of his life, Aren was a rebellious loner. He misbehaved as a child, and things only got worse as he grew older. Once the boy hit fifteen, he started working in Rando’s Garage, a know chopshop and seedy establishment ran by an old, grizzled Rodian. By sixteen, Aren was helping steal speeders and swoop bikes, and racing in midnight meetups down the canals of Abregado-Rae. And it was through racing that Aren caught the eye of Vanel Dyson, the girl that would become his first girlfriend. A year later, Aren’s mother would finally pass away, and not long after he would be caught stealing a speeder by the local security force. A deal was worked out where a seventeen-year-old Aren would enlist in the military, and serve his time there rather in jail. While in the military, he would finish his schooling, and go on to do some secondary education classes. Eventually through enough merit he saw himself transferred to a jet trooper brigade, and felt he finally found those he could relate with, and where he was supposed to be. Aren would go on to serve well past his mandatory time in the military, all the way until the War with the Sith Empire started. As a jet trooper, Aren saw a lot of the War, very quickly. The Jedi that his company was assigned under didn’t help matters, however. The Jedi was a Barabel Master named Tesar Synd, who was hard on his troops and treated them more like canon fodder than anything, going to any lengths to see the objective fulfilled. And more often than not, Master Synd would personally commandeer Aren’s own squad when in the field. And the squad decided to to act after Master Synd lost most of his troops on Yaga Minor while trying to fight against the Sith’s overwhelming forces. In the midst of their retreat they sprung, and while Aren would sustain grievous wounds from fighting with the Barabel and they would lose a few members of their unit, they won out in the end. With the help of a squadmate named Hirani Poy’ta, a Twi’lek, Aren left Yaga Minor behind and the both of them left the Republic in general behind. Given the nature of their departure, Aren and Hirani decided to wait things out in the Outer Rim, and Hutt Space. It was while out on the edge of the Galaxy that Aren and Hirani turned to a live of mercenary work and bounty hunting. It was at first necessary, in order to eat and pay their way. But eventually they learned that they were a good working pair. Nonetheless, they had to always keep moving. There was always someone looking for Master Synd’s killers, whether it was another Jedi, or rival bounty hunters. Their partnership lasted for about two years, before there was a mix-up between two mercenary gangs, the Free Nova’s and the Akaan Company, and Hirani was killed. The leader of Akaan Company was a older woman, old enough to be Aren’s mother, named Arani Fett. Arani offered, instead of cashing in Aren’s bounty, to give the man a place in the mercenary band. Seeing little other choice at the moment, Aren accepted. Soon enough, he was serving alongside Arani’s own children, twin brother and sister Jasper and Jyoti, though he still felt the need to prove himself. Especially given Jasper and Jyoti’s jeering about his easy recruitment. As Aren served with the Akaan Company, the mercenaries would soon be hired by the wealthy of Taris, to protect their persons and assets as the War came to their doorstep. Taris, of course, soon turned into a free-for-all as the Rakghouls broke out across the surface. Aren would go on to rescue Arani, Jasper, and Jyoti from the chaos, finally earning their trust. In the aftermath of Taris, Arani would explain that she offered Aren a spot in the Akaan Company because she knew his father, and he was a splitting image of the man. She had a holo to prove it, and Aren could remember enough to recognise the man when he saw him. Arani explained that Jasper and Jyoti were her and Val’s children as well, and therefore Aren’s siblings. She offered him a place in the Mandalorian culture as well, and Aren accepted. The adoption was short and simple, and afterwards Arani tasked him with retrieving his father’s armor from the jungles of Dxun, where his father had met his end. It was, in the end, a simple task and the armor was repaired and refitted for Aren when he returned. After all this, Jyoti and Jasper both started to warm up to Aren, and he truly came into the fold. It was Jyoti that called Aren’s choice of crimson blood-like, which started Jasper calling the armor Blood Iron. As the War between the Republic and the Sith progressed, the Akaan Company became all the more busy with good paying jobs. They would crush uprisings on Ord Mantell and Garqi for the Sith. The Hutts would hire them to help decide inter-cartel disputes and gang wars. Aren would end up killing another Jedi on Tatooine, not long after taking a bounty for a great krayt dragon that was harming settlements, and fulfilling the mark. In general, the new Mandalorian would have a very violent, very adventure filled few years with the Akaan Company, along his brother, sister and new adoptive mother. In this time, being Mandalorian became his entire life, and he was folded in as neatly as anyone raised in the culture. This would come to a head, when Manda’lor gave the call for the clans to rise up and join together. Those who were with Akaan Company that were Mandalorian, and there were quite a few, all followed Arani back to the Fett Clan’s ancestral home of Concord Dawn. There, they would help throw off the shackles of the Republic’s tyranny, and take their home back. Arani claimed the position of clan leader for herself, and those who wanted to join from her mercenary company were permitted to do so. A short while after that, Manda’lor would gather the clans for the Invasion of Onderon. The Fetts were tasked with leading the street fighting, while the Manda’lor himself went for the palace. When the thickest of fighting began, Arani’s basilisk war droid would be destroyed by the Onderonian’s last few walkers. The clan started to scatter after this, and as they did, Aren would blow a hole in the line of walkers himself. Rallying those around him who still stood, they would go on to push the line back into one of the last strongholds that the Onderon military still had, snapping their resistance. Afterwards, the clan would look to Aren as the new clan leader. Though there was much celebrating after Onderon, not everyone was content. Though they had fought side by side for years, Jasper felt he should be the Fett Clan’s leader, as Aren hadn’t grown up in the culture. Jasper challenged his brother to a duel once they returned to Concord Dawn, and they would fight on their family’s land, with beskads. It was a rather even match, but Aren would win in the head, and Jasper would lose a hand to his blade. Jasper begged for Aren to kill him with honor, instead of giving him the dishonor of mercy, but Aren wouldn’t kill his brother. Nor could he stop Jasper, however, from running himself through with his own beskad. After the duel, Jyoti would become distant with her only remaining family, and Aren felt himself being alone for the first time in a long time. As clan leader for the Fetts, Aren wanted to shift his full attention to their matters, and cut his ties to his former bounty hunting and mercenary work. To that end, he went to Nar Shaddaa to tie up some loose ends. Once there, through some unusual events involving a bar shootout and chases across the Red Light Sector, Aren became acquainted with a Grey Jedi and former Sith named Skylar Zenar. Though initially untrusting and indeed a bit hostile, given his general distaste for Force-users, Aren had to admit at the end of things that they worked well together. Skylar would help him take out a rival bounty hunter, and he would save her from a pair of Sith assassins, adding numbers to the total amount of Force-users he’s killed, and ticking one into the category of potential partner, for the first time ever. |
