Faction: Mandalorian
Department: Entire Military/Overall Mandalorian High Command
Rank: Field Marshal
Name: Avograd Darasuum'Aliike (Nicknamed "Avo")
Race: Human
Age: 47
Height: 6'
Weight: 190 lbs.
Birth place: Shogun
Appearance:
Gruff, aged, and scarred beyond recognition, Avograd is not exactly the ideal painter's prospect or a pretty picture. Numerous scars crisscross his chest like a crossword puzzle, the product of numerous run-ins with predatory animals, hostile sentient beings, and plain shrapnel wounds. In particular, a single scar runs down from in front of his left ear through the length of his left cheek as it traces forward and culminates below the chin and halfway through his neck. However, it is usually hidden, and thus elicits something of an intent stare or two as well as a few questions. A large Mythosaur skull tattoo of faded outline is imprinted on his back; on his front torso, the historical sigil of his now scattered to the winds clan is embossed as a reminder of the glory that his father once spoke to him of so long ago.
His eyes are a milky grey color, but have lost the luster once anchored with youth like all senior beings in the galaxy. His hair, once a rich hazel brown as well, is dull and grayed all about; the dirtied snow has invaded the sides of his military-style flat-top as well as the thick, less than well-trimmed goatee surrounding his mouth, leaving color only on the top of his scalp. Avograd's skin coloring is somewhere in between white and a light tan; he regularly walks about in his armor, but keeps his sand gold, beat up helmet removed unless it is required in a combat situation. There's an aura of commanding presence but also of jaded personality that radiates from his figure; he moves like a man half his age, but acts beyond his years. In any rate, that inspiring attitude comes from his beat up, chewed up Mandalorian beskar'gam; the sand gold and black paint job is chipped and faded just like his hair and eyes, and numerous dents and slashes on the armor indicate experience but also foolishness to a degree. His rank insignia is of a faded print on his left shoulder; on his right, his clan's emblem again presents itself.
In any rate, his armor is usually dirty and muddied to an extent from so much work on the front-lines working to reclaim historically Mandalorian systems and planets; Avograd finds he has little time to keep both himself and his armor clean, and as such will go for the former. It is usually rare that someone will find his suit in perfect cleanliness, much less any degree of cleanliness to begin with. Avograd used to don his great ancestor's armor occasionally; a golden Neo-Crusader panoply that was used during the Mandalorian Wars by those who came before him. Passed down through the generations, he now keeps it permanently placed on a stand in his office at Concord Dawn, having long since been vaccinated to the plague located on-planet.
Personality:
Avograd has followed the footsteps of his ancestors to the letter. His great grandfather and those grandfathers before him were all members of the Mandalorian military or some organized planetary defense force at some point in time, and he chose to honor their paths by following suit. As a young child, he heavily attempted to follow his father to the letter, and his father's mannerisms followed him throughout his life. He is military to the core; loyal, honorable by the Resol'nare, and ultimately obedient to the Mand'alor, no matter his actions. Avograd may harbor feelings contrary to his colleagues and betters, and is not afraid to speak them. Still, he will ultimately defer to his culture's leader's decision, and to him traitors are the worst of all Mandalorian enemies.
Avograd holds a serious aversion to the Sith Empire; he sees them as cunning and conniving, a dangerous threat to the safety and healthy continuation of his people and culture. Having long since advocated their threat to the Mandalorian people since the Empire's apparent resurgence, Avograd is a believer in the tenets and teachings of Mandalore the Preserver, Canderous Ordo, whom Avograd's ancestors also served under after the culmination of the Jedi Civil War. Concerning his people's traditional enemies, Avograd holds no begrudging towards them nor the Galactic Republic; he sees the Jedi Order as a rival organization worthy of existence, and his viewpoints have no doubt been influenced by the Preserver's past stance on the issue.
Loyal to no end, Avograd has maintained the position that he would never willingly or unwillingly betray his people. Of all the virtues his father instilled in him, it was loyalty that stuck most to the impressionable young son. He spits at the idea of accepting illegal money at any turn, and knows the dangers that greed can present to even the most resolute Mando'ade. It can be said that Avograd would endure a world of torture and hold out by sheer willpower; those under him admire him most for his undying devotion to the advancement of the Mandalorian culture.
As a leader in the Mandalorian military, Avograd holds little aversion to new recruits who have still yet to prove themselves to him. He sees all Mandalorians as brothers, equal despite their level of achievements, and feels that if they cannot better themselves on their own, he will aid them along the path of his culture. His patience and intelligence is on a higher plane than most, and this cool head has kept him from making more amateur mistakes in recent years. Amongst other things, Avograd feels it his solemn duty to usher along a new era of Mandalorian dominance alongside the two other current super powers. He has answered the call to arms, and will most likely continue to do so until crippled beyond repair or dead with gun and sword in hand.

Bio:
"...primarily, the clan was noted for producing some of the finest soldiers and weapon/armorsmiths in the entirety of Mandalorian controlled space. Valuing the Crusader and military way of life, which mixed well with the warrior culture its members were born or adopted into, Clan Darasuum'Aliike produced a number of infamous names during the Great Sith War as well as being one of the main groups to originally join the Neo-Crusader movement, where they also produced at least three semi-prominent Mandalorian Field Marshals, the highest rank achievable in the Neo-Crusader movement, during the Mandalorian Wars according to captured databases that thankfully remained uncorrupted by the time of their retrieval.
Although long noted for it's distinctive beskar polearm staves and for being one of the most noble and honorable of Mandalorian clans, Clan Darasuum'Aliike is perhaps most noticeably remembered for its crest, whose title, which is the same as the clan surname, is translated into Basic roughly as 'The Eternal Sigil.'
A distinctive golden eagle swooping down, the sigil of the clan is often interpreted as representing the clan's supposed eternal solemn vow to do the following: follow the sixth tenet of the Resol'nare to the extreme and both listen for and sweep up the Mandalore's call, or Mand'alor in their language, should he require more soldiers for a new crusade or conflict no matter what the backdrop of the situation may consist of or how dire it may be. From primary as well as secondary sources, it can be inferred that Clan Darasuum'Aliike has been consistently faithful to their vow as the numbers of the clan have dipped to almost non-existent numbers during war-time and periodically increased in times of widespread peace. During the Mandalorian Wars, the clan was decimated save for a handful of members who were not present at Malachor V, and was further devastated during the war with whom is now known as 'Mand'alor the Betrayer.'
The clan has not regained it's pre-war numbers, where it rivaled more publicly known Mandalorian Clans, such as Fett and Ordo. However, more information on it is severely limited, and with rumors of rebellion on Mandalorian-populated worlds, there may yet be a rise again to this noble clan and it's..."
-Excerpt from 'A Compiled History of the Mandalorian
People, Edition A2-45DD...'
Avograd Darasuum'Aliike was born on Shogun to a family with the military life built into its blood. Although the Mandalorian culture was already Spartan and based off the way of the warrior, his Clan had long since created a standing tradition that its members would be one of two things; soldiers in the service of the Mand'alor, or weapon smiths who would create objects of battle for the former's soldiers instead. These two areas were what the Clan excelled at; its kin could indeed pick any profession so long as it was one of these two. Avograd's father, Adlai, was the chieftain and main leader of the clan, and his stance on this was advocated through the fathers and mothers of every family in their village hamlet. Even so, the clan was small, and its numbers had dwindled majorly, partly from the Treaty of Mandoa and partly on the simple demographics of their situation.
As he progressed in years, Avograd became enthralled by the stories his father told him of war, the glory his great grandfathers and those before them had gained in service to the entirety of the Mandalorian culture. He spoke to him of his time fighting in Mand'alor the Betrayer's army, and how they had failed in their last great crusade for domination. Adlai instilled in him ideals of honor and servitude to the Clan and culture as a whole, and worked hard to turn him into an object of servitude. Avograd became a dutiful son, one his father could be proud of; he was vibrant, active, and was seen to be a spitting image of the Darasuum'Aliike ideal. Although young, Avograd yearned to re-earn the honor that his clan had symbolically lost in serving a Mand'alor who had signed away their culture to the Republic.
In particular, Avograd became interested about Mand'alor the Preserver, who had risen to prominence after the Jedi Civil War. The things his father taught to him from the man's life greatly interested him. It was through these teachings and historical lessons that the boy was saved from a life-time of hatred for the Galactic Republic, for he understood quietly through this and his father's words that it had been their leader's fault, not the Republic's fault, that the Mandalorians had been reduced to such meager statuses. He also felt no disgust towards the Jedi Order; rather, he began to see them as proper rivals to his culture. No matter the opinions of the others who lived around him, Avograd held the same non-begrudging stance as his father. In time, he would have the opportunity to test his mettle and there was no reason to harbor bitterness without good reason.
Adlai was a man of blades and rifles in stark contrast to Parla, Avograd's mother, who was a weapon smith and farmer by trade, having married into their clan from Clan Ordo. He taught Avograd everything he knew, showing him the ropes of melee and ranged combat techniques that he had honed during the last great war with the Republic. Avograd caught on fast; the soldier's way was in his blood. He loved the feel of a sword's hilt, and worked hard to make the Beskad an extension of his arm. Adlai trained with him using the family's sword, which had been in their clan for generations upon generations. He told him that one day this would be his to carry into the field of battle when the time was right and Adlai had moved on from this world. Avograd admired the ornate blade deeply, although he did not care for the cleanliness or elaborate design of it; he was more interested in its symbolic meaning and what it meant to his clan as a whole. The man also taught him to his fists, telling Avograd that the most useful weapon he had was his body.
As he became a competent young child of eleven years of age, his mother showed him the basics of weapon and armor creation. Avograd loathed this deeply; he was no shaper of metal, and longed for the fight like every other soldier boy in the clan. Still, he was loyal to his parents, and the process was interesting enough although he had no care to actually apply it some day. One day, in the family dwelling, Avograd inquired to his mother about a dusty wooden trunk with a keypad lock that she kept near her workbench. Parla took happiness in her son's curiosity and explained that it was the armor of one of his ancestors, a Field Marshal from the Mandalorian Wars. Avograd was intrigued by this; his father had told him of their military tradition, by not that they had had a member of such prominence. He probed his mother continuously on the subject, and as time went on she elaborated to him.
Parla further more told him that they had had four Field Marshals in the clan's history; three from the Mandalorian Wars. Two of them had died at Malachor V, a third had died from simple old age in peace, and the fourth was in fact Adlai, who had retired at the end of the Betrayer's crusade to end the Republic and in fact had been close to the man. There were also members of prominence all the way back to the original Crusaders, although the tales of their exploits had either been lost or corrupted with time. Avograd was astounded that his father had not told him his true rank during the last war, but decided not to ask him as well about the subject. He surmised that Adlai was ashamed of having served under a formerly honorable leader and having been his friend up until the signing of the treaty.
None the less, Avograd continued onwards under the direction of his mother and father loyally. He learned how to properly disassemble both a blaster and slug thrower and clean them efficiently by the age of twelve, although that was the extent of his knowledge concerning the type of weapons he could fix. It was quite apparent that he was becoming something of a melee specialist. However, he would not learn how to use the clan's signature weapon, the Sigil Polearm, until he was much older due to the strength requirements of wielding such a weapon effectively. His father taught him the history of the weapon and how his ancestors had wielded it in battle numerous times during close-quarters battles with viciousness. It was a time honored tradition that every son learn it to a proficient level, and Adlai told Avograd that one day his own would be passed to him just like the family sword.
On his thirteenth birthday, Avograd was taken to the village center for his Verd'goten. For his rite of passage into manhood, the task was rather simple; face off against a boy who had him by two years in a sword fight, using Beskads as the weapon of choice. If Avograd won, he would pass the trial; even if it was a draw, he would his clan honor in holding against a superior foe. His adversary was stronger and faster, and immediately in the fight Avograd found himself hard-pressed to maintain a coherent defense. Strike after strike drove Avograd to the dirt tracing that made up their dueling circle, and for several minutes he found himself simply dodging about formulating an on the spot plan. Nearly about to be driven from the ring, he tricked his opponent and guided him into a spinning horizontal slash. However, when the elder boy's Beskad swung, it connected with nothing but empty air. Avograd was behind him, planting a field boot on his butt and sending him out of the circle with a powerful kick; he had passed his Verd'goten as had every boy in the clan.
As he continued to grow, so did Avograd's loyalty to the road his father was placing him on. Adlai was grooming him to be a leader, to take charge and set an example for others to follow and later exceed. Out of the friends he made in the clan village, Avograd was beginning to distinguish himself as the unofficial leader of gang of young teenagers, who would spar or train together in their spare time, or go hunting and fishing in leisure time. He enjoyed particularly shooting competitions; testing his aim with a blaster rifle versus his colleagues was something he came to enjoy heavily and favor when not with his father. With his mother, he began with her help to create his own panoply of beskar'gam; for his color scheme, it was decided he would have it sand gold to symbolize the vengeance he would have in restoring the Mandalorian people someday and black for the justice his actions would be known for. Avograd's dreams were endless, but none the less he would be sure to accomplish them.
Because of the lack of Beskar on Shogun, Avograd for now would have to go with using simple duraplast for the armor plating until he could later on have the armor plating re-made in regular materials. With Parla's continued guidance, he programmed his armor's software, installing a DX-23 Jetpack unit for limited flight onto the back of the torso section. To the gauntlets, Avograd added vibroblade knuckle-plates for close-range combat. He also created a range-finder for what would eventually be his T-Visor helmet. Although the project would take some time, Avograd was assured and convinced it would be time well-worth spent. Wearing the traditional armor of the culture was the primary tenet in the Resol'nare; for him to not follow it was exaggerated spiritual suicide. Around the age of seventeen, he traveled to the village of another clan to the far north to have the sigil emblem of his clan tattooed to his chest and a large mythosaur skull tattooed to his back, as there were no men or women of such profession in his hamlet. The process was excruciatingly irritating and somewhat painful, and for a week or two Avograd found himself hard-pressed to dodge playful strikes to these areas by his friends.
Now an adolescent, Avograd was becoming blinded by what could be said was increasing impatience. He was sick of waiting for the Mand'alor to make good on the rumors spreading over Shogun and throughout formerly Mandalorian-controlled planets. He decided against his father's consent to seek out a rumored resistance movement on the planet. It took him quite some-time to find what he was after, but none the less he did indeed find a budding insurgent group comprised of former war veterans and newer warriors alike in the crystal mountains that occupied the entirety of Shogun's surface and consisted as her lone terrain. Entering as an unknown face, he was taken in with arms open. He kept his joining of this outfit a secret to his parents, however, for he did not wish to endanger them in the event he was ever captured by the Republic occupiers.
For the next decade, Avograd devoted his life to the rebel group. Although Shogun would eventually be liberated and not by their hand, Avograd rose to prominence in this medium-sized cadre. The missions were quick and brief, with one purpose; harass the Republic, destroy opposition-controlled infrastructure, and support the continued growth of the local clans spread across the planet. The ranks as followed were of the military nature, and here Avograd found the chance as he continued to gain respect to flex the muscle his father had worked hard to instill in him. The fellow grunts enjoyed his company, and the older veterans who had supposedly fought alongside Adlai with Mand'alor the Betrayer saw something of a leader in the young pup trying to climb his way up in the pack. As time went on, Avograd revealed why he was slipping away for long periods of time to his father, although he was no longer a teenager under his dad's reigns. Adlai was happy Avograd was taking a stance of action; like any typical Mandalorian mother, Parla was like-wise happy for him when he told her later on.
The missions he ran were dangerous lightning-strikes. Mostly, they got in and out quickly and the guerrilla war raged onwards. Occasionally, though, the situation would get a bit sticky. One time, Avograd found himself leading a small task-force to sabotage a fuel depot. However, the Republic had been anticipating this and had created a trap by stationing extra soldiers and even a few armored vehicles with the hopes of catching the harassing Mandalorian insurgents. The result was just as they had hoped; as soon as Avograd and his team were inside the compound, they found themselves hammered by heavy small and medium fire. In the opening crossfire, Avograd's second was hit square in the T-Visor by a heavy blaster, leaving a smoking crater behind. Having brought along single-shot missile tubes, this being what they were afforded as anti-vehicular ordnance, Avograd would trade off between two tubes with another vod, attempting to get shots off between the decreased visibility of night and the glare of all the blaster-fire. He would eventually fight his way out, but not before losing four comrades with three more with wounds of myriad degrees. This would teach him to value life more than ever; he absolutely hated seeing friends pass on and couldn't forgive himself for leading them into a trap.
