Character Name: Rembrant Vorte Character From This Board: Yup! Character Faction/Alignment: Dark Jedi, In a state of mental wandering. Type of Roleplay: Skirmish/conflict/interaction/whatever it turns out being. Roleplay Requirements: I'd say anybody likely to stumble across Rembrant on Ruusan. A lost colonist, an explorer, even a hiding bounty hunter. Reason for Request: So I can be a guinea pig! ;D No better way to polish the system than to run through it, eh? That, coupled with the fact that I've only been RPing since last November, so I still have a lot to learn. Mostly looking for feedback, what works and what doesn't, since I'm pretty satisfied with my present writing-style. Also need to fine-tune my portrayal of Rembrant, and of course, to have fun! Notes: What do you want the title of each thread to be? The name of the person, or just a thread title? Oh, and I liked the second category above as 'Character Source', instead of 'Character from this board'. The first seemed to make more sense. And I think that's about it for questions/comments... for now. X) Roleplay:The wind was fierce, biting like a Vornskr. Relentless. Rembrant stood straight upon the rocky crag, milky-white eyes surveying the surrounding area. The Vornskr-wind whipped through the canyon, bending plants flush with the ground and ripping their leaves into the air. It howled and bayed as it snatched Rembrant's cloak, threatening to steal it away, quick as a thief. Rembrant reveled in the conflict. He stood fast. If only his inner-demons were as easily conquered as the external ones. The rocky ledge on which Rembrant stood was an island, harsh slopes extending both upward and downward, the opposite side of the fissure lurking in the distance. To an outsider, it might seem like he was stranded. But Rembrant knew better. He closed his eyes, letting the world become quiet around him as he drew within himself. He no longer heard the baying of the wind, no longer felt its icy fingers rake through his snow-white hair. The Force began to fill him as everything else faded away... That impressionable force, the Force which so magnified the traits of whoever touched it... Rembrant could feel the darkness, but he'd come to know its presence. And as he touched the Force, his sense of the world returned. Each of the bending plants, the roaring wind, the rock below. But even farther, he could sense; the Kau huddling in a distant cave, the rush of snow-melt which lined the Canyon's base far-below. And then Rembrant gathered his concentration, and he was no longer just feeling, he was controlling. A disk of the force he gathered, curling at his feet. And then it spread up his legs, he could feel it... And he began to rise. The wind buffeted him, tried to knock him aside, but Rembrant stayed so very close to the Canyon wall, slowly rising, the Force guiding him to the places where the wind was foiled. Rembrant's perception of time was warped by his meditation. 3 hours passed in five minutes, and he crested the ridge. Here, the wind eased, not focused by the drive of the Canyon. The wind still groped, and Rembrant re-fasted the sheath of freshly-harvested Mountain-Brush. He'd been running low; 'twas the only reason he'd ventured out so close to the enslaught of a storm... As if in tune with his thoughts, a wild roar of thunder echoed between the peaks, sound cutting into his skull. Rainfall began to shimmer in sheets far off... Suddenly, Rembrant felt a presence. A sentient presence. And close, quite close... A grimace set upon his scarred face, Rembrant took off at a sprint, battling the wind. This needed to be investigated, regardless of the approaching storm... Another peal of thunder roared, challenging Rembrant like a rearing bull. Torro he thought, plowing through the rain once more.

(Ooc: Whelp *cracks knuckles* Here we go, thank you for choosing to be a guinea pig, I really don't see much fixing needed in your post, but let's see how reactions/ interactions are with the character. And yeah, when making a rp mentoring thread, I'd recommend just putting your name, anything else might clutter everything up ^^. I'll be using my Jedi High Councilman- so this should be interesting... Name: Ozzril Ackbar.) The rain danced across the skin of an older Mon Cal sitting and meditating, his eyes closed and his breathing steady. The honed Jedi had come here because he knew it was time for him to- having had a vision of this place weeks ago. Ozzril had always had a natural gift for foresight, but usually his objective was clearer in them. All the aged man knew was that he needed to come here, and wait. A slight nudge in the Force prodded his mind- a sensitive was feeling for others. 'And so I find my purpose...' Ozzie thought with slight bemusement. But he knew this was no ordinary sensitive- only a user of the Dark side could obscure his prediction... And so the aged Mon Cal got to his feet- his sandals letting out some water as he did. Ozzie opened his large eyes and looked around him, his two eyes moving in separate directions as he did, taking in his entire surroundings. Woods to his left, the inside of the forest obscured by the rain, and a vast rocky plain to his right, but he couldn't see far across it, once more obscured by the rain. This did not deter the Jedi though, he raised his arms to his side then threw open his palms, reaching out with the Force as he did. The rain to Ozzie's sides moved away from him slightly from the sheer might of the Force within the old pillar of Light. In the woods Ozzie felt animals and plants of all sorts, many moving away from the rocky plains, and on his right- nothing except for a single dark presence. The Dark side seemed to try and repel the Jedi's probe- but Ozzril was stronger than that. He turned and started towards the presence, Ozzie's pace steady and calm. The Jedi was not fully certain of what this sentient would hold for him- whether it be a wayward spirit, or a full blown Sith Lord. He called upon the Force for support, feeling it's calming warmth spread through his entirety. As Ozzie walked, he reached out to the dark presence ahead of him, sending a feeling of warmth and brotherhood. Do not fear... I will not harm you... Ozzie sent through the Force, hoping the other would feel his invitation of friendship, and respond positively... (Ooc: Just so you know ahead of time, though I approve of lengthier posts, I personally prefer to keep things more condensed- I feel that detail is nice, but too much makes reading a bit tasking at times, lol. Your turn hun )

((Funny you should mention... xD Of all my tendencies, over-describing is one of them. Always has been.... though, as things get moving, I usually settle-out. Usually. Thanks for pointing it out though. :P Oh, and I agree on the thread-title bit. ;D Fixed accordingly. ))
Rembrant was getting closer now, and he could feel the presence more clearly. A Jedi, and a powerful one at that. It wasn't hard to deduce. The aura of rosy friendship which rolled off the Jedi was as distinct as it was revolting. The last thing Rembrant needed was a reminder of what he had lost. Friendship held only pain.
Each step brought him further and further down the mountain-side, coming down the West edge of the range. The land leveled out to forest before dropping again, and it was near this area that Rembrant felt the presence... but it was too clear, too distinct for a master trying to remain hidden. It was as if the Master wanted Rembrant to find him.
Rembrant's analytical mind set to work. What reason would a Jedi Master have to come all the way out to Ruusan, looking for him? Hm, but the Jedi's motivations were always a mystery. Did they not see how impractical they were? Rembrant mused a moment over the fact that he might have become one of them. That future was far gone, now, and he payed it no more thought.
Rembrant prowled along the landscape, his path taking him behind convenient rocks and boulders, line-of-sight always broken. He channeled the Force into hiding his position, while he himself sought to sense with it... Rain beat incessant at his face, yet still Rembrant peered through he torrent... There, a figure walking in his direction, made visible by the infrared range of Rembrant's vision. Rembrant moved out into the open. He wasn't going to dart between rocks like some sort of animal. This was his territory, this was his solitude, and he was going to protect it.
"Ho! Go away! You aren't welcome here." Rembrant's voice held a calm edge as he waited for the master to respond. With the force he pushed out, feeling all around, mind already planning methods of attack, methods of escape, planning for the case that the Jedi wouldn't be discouraged by words alone...

(Ooc: XD apparently I have a natural gift for this- which is a good sign considering I'm trying to become a teacher. And as for your post, seemed perfect except for one thing... Rembrandt's words seemed kinda... off I think. The 'go away' part mostly I think, I don't think a Dark Jedi would say something like that, but then again, this could be what makes yours different... It still works, I think I'm just weird ) Ozzril nodded to himself as the Force sensitive revealed himself. Maybe this will work out peacefully... thought the aged Jedi as he turned the left side of his face to the man- the Mon Cal look of surprise and greeting. The tempered Jedi felt the man reach out with the Force, a dark taint spreading towards and around Ozzril. The Mon Cal simply lifted his right hand and with a slight wave, called upon the Force himself to turn the man's senses away from the Jedi, and shielded his mind instinctively from the Dark Jedi's touch. He took in a slow, watery, shaky breath before sighing gently and said "The Force brought me here for a reason son, and I think that reason might be you." Ozzie held a hand out to the man with his damp palm facing up. "I have known that I would come here for a time, but was not sure why until now. I am Ozzril Ackbar, High Councilman of the Jedi Order, and I come not to fight, but to talk. I sense the Dark Side within your conflicted mind- the ever present struggle... I offer you a chance at redemption. The Jedi will welcome you into their ranks, if you so choose it." The aged Jedi said, taking in another shaky breath as his hands moved to his belt and rested on it, his right hand just next to his lightsaber. "I do not wish for this to come to blows my son. But do not try to attack me, that would be foolish." Ozzril added. And so the Jedi waited, his advanced vision peeled for any sudden movements, his senses spread around him as well, but still keeping up the 'wall' between his mind and the Dark Jedi. He knew that one of three things would happen. Either the two could talk things out- if the Dark Side didn't taint the man too much- or he would either attack or flee. "What will it be, will you take my hand in friendship, or not?" Ozzril asked, his face turning slightly to face him on his right side, a Mon Cal look of questioning.

ooc// You will find that Rembrant is definitely not your usual Dark Jedi. ;) One of the reasons I needed to get him into an RP situation; he's a touch on the complicated side, and practice is always nice. ;D And now that I'm awake and not half-asleep, he probably would have said 'Leave this place' as opposed to 'Go away'. Hm... *continues pondering* And teaching is a wonderful profession! //
Rembrant made no move to step toward the Jedi. "Do not tempt me to hope," He said, bitterness cutting deep into his tone. "Your promises are hollow, your words predictable. You know nothing of me and my story. I wish simply to be left alone to my solitude and my demons. I am welcome no where, and I welcome no one."
Mere words cannot undo the deeds of the past.
Rembrant's face twisted into a scowl. Forty-one years he'd been in this galaxy, and forty-one years that very galaxy had seen it fit to cruelly twist his fate. His own mistakes had been his undoing, and he'd learned to live with the guilt. Here this Jedi came, pretending all wrongs could be undone by simple acceptance. Perhaps the Jedi would forgive him. But their forgiveness meant nothing. Reconciliation could only be offered by those he had wronged, and those he had wronged were already dead. Killed by his hand. He had tasted the Darkness too long, it had become a part of him. He neither embraced it nor rejected it; he simply lived with it. Justice would never be done, for even if Rembrant died, one life was not worth the loss of a hundred.
There would never be Justice for those wronged, and there would never be redemption for Rembrant. That was simply the state of things. And so Rembrant glared at the master, the tainted Force falling away from the master's shields. Telepathy had never been his strong-point. If only the master would leave, and cease this cruel persuasion. There was only one outcome for friendship, and only one result of love. Loss and longing.

(Ooc: Well, I finally found something to say to improve. Your post was written perfectly, made sense, and was engaging. But you did not give much for me to respond to. Yes, Dialog wise you did, but with no said motions, actions, or intent shown through the Force. In any given rp, if you want a good response, give people stuff to respond to . I'll try to post something from this. Maybe I'll have Ozzie go a bit out of character and attack or something ) Ozzril sighed, more exhausted sounding than he was. He had heard these words time and time again. It's always the one's that feel they don't deserve redemption that are the hardest to heal... The aged Jedi thought, shaking his head slowly. It saddened the Mon Cal to hear the man's words, but he had his orders. But that wouldn't stop Ozzril from trying one more time. "How can I know you, when I've only just met you son?" Asked the Jedi, his head cocked slightly to the right. "Come with me, tell me your tale- don't give up on yourself- You are welcome to two places. Either come with me to Coruscant, where you can redeem yourself, or stay here... and become one with the Force." Ozzril added, his right hand drifting to rest on the hilt of his lightsaber. The old Jedi moved slightly, separating his stance and solidifying it. He remembered the council's words vividly... If you run into any tainted or Dark Jedi on your travels, show them back to the Light, but if they flat out refuse, no matter what you have tried- return them to the Force. Ozzril closed his mouth tighter than usual, a Mon Cal frown, but unclipped his lightsaber from his belt. "I do not wish to fight, but if you will not at least talk to me..." Ozzie started as he ignited his lightsaber. The aqua blade erupted with a Snap-hiss! and continued to make random soft, hissing noises as the rain ran down the blade. "...The I must act as my mandate deems necessary. It is your call my boy." Ozzril said firmly, his ultimatum made.

ooc// You are entirely correct. xD I do tend to be a reactive RPer... still a bit meek. Keep this advice in mind, I shall. Hm, reviewing stats and bios, Rembrant and Ozzril seem to be pretty well matched... at least enough that Rembrant could hold his own. But just barely, as usual. Or would he attempt diplomacy... *ponders this* Do excuse my thinking aloud... X) // Rembrant's expression remained unchanged. Would the Jedi ever learn when to stop meddling? It was doubtful. Rembrant extended his right hand, body shifting to move that side toward the Jedi. His lightsaber snapped into his hand, moved by a tendril of the Force. As it hit his palm, the saber ignited, hissing hungrily as it shimmered deep blue, the rain crackling off its blade. Rembrant raised his blade and pointed it at the Jedi. A Makashi salute. "You Jedi are incorrigible. You'll never learn to leave well-enough alone." A flick of the wrist, and Rembrant flourished his blade, marking an X-stroked flourish. He brought his hand down, twisting his saber into a low block. This was not a battle he planned to lose. Rembrant could feel the charge in the air shift. His strategy evolved. The charge culminated, and with a blinding flash, a tendril of lightning flashed above. Even before the sound caught up with the light, Rembrant was grasping a boulder with a tendril of the force, raising it into the air. It was three feet in diameter, not a challenging object. Rembrant's left hand flicked suddenly, and the boulder suddenly accelerated through the air, moving toward the Jedi. And then the thunder came, roaring and shaking, and sending a viscous tremor through the ground. Regardless of how the Jedi deflected the boulder, Rembrant's next move would not be greatly changed. The projectile had been meant as more of a distraction. Rembrant's feet brought him surging forward, quick, neat strokes, each foot-step in perfect line with the last, an artist's stroke. And then he was here feet from the Jedi, saber poised in a defensive stance, blocking the angle from which the Jedi would most likely attack. But his wrist was loose, his grip only so tight as to be needed. He was ready to flick his saber in any direction, watching for the most subtle signs of an impending attack, waiting for the attack of the Jedi.

(Ooc: Getting better, you gave me plenty non combat stuff to react to- but only one combat thing really. Boulder attack was good, can't ignore the flying stone >.> But as for the charge, I personally would have said something after the part where you charged. You initiated the attack- so start it, throw the first blow. Specially if you know that Ozzie is a defensive style user XD. I'll give you a hint btw, Ozzie's swordplay isn't what to watch with the old Mon Cal But here we go~) And so it started. Not all surprising to the Jedi, so many tainted ones have come and gone in his time. Each reacted either one way or the other... and all met the same end. Not killed, their lives were spared, but their limbs were another matter. He turned the right side of his face towards the Dark Jedi, a Mon Cal challenge. Makashi... thought the old Jedi as the opponent did the signature salute. Though he himself did not study the style- finding too aggressive- he did appreciate it's use, as well as it's edge. Luckily for him, his late Master Koto was an expert with Makashi, and taught him how using Sorensu and Shien. The Jedi simply stood his ground, and focused the Force around him. He raised one hand up during the salute, then let it fall palm down towards the ground. Ozzril knew the Dark Jedi would feel this, but Ozzie wanted him to know, why hide something that couldn't harm the enemy. Ozzril had gathered the Force within him, then pushed it outward, spreading all around his body, allowing the Mon Cal to sense all immediate moves for a moment. A rock- the Dark Jedi was using the Force to remove, and most likely propel the stone at him. Sure enough, the three foot wide boulder was thrown at the Jedi- but Ozzril was prepared. He did two simple motions that would guarantee to throw the duelist off. Ozzie moved his hand holding his lightsaber in a low sweeping motion with two outspread fingers, the Force flowing off of him into the ground. He grasped the ground beneath the Dark Jedi's feet, as well as the rest of the ground around him, and with one quick motion moved it to the right and back to throw off the Dark Jedi's footwork. But this wasn't all the Jedi did, with his free hand he reached out at the same moment, Ozzril made a quick fist, and then made a throwing gesture at the attacker. The very boulder meant to attack Ozzril popped into dirt and dust, which then shot at the Dark Jedi's Face. Ozzril jumped back and spun, landing several meters away, his stance a mark of perfection in Soresu. His lightsaber was held above his head, and his free hand held out with an open palm towards the attacker. "Son, you are outmatched, and outwitted, please, lower your weapon, this can still end peacefully." Ozzril growled, his senses peeled for anything else that could be sent at him. Let us hope he listens... He thought, awaiting the attacker's next move.

ooc// Much thanks. ;D Poor Ashley tends to be uber-conservative in duels, because she's scared of stepping on toes. Silly Ashley. X) //
Rembrant crouched to bring his balance low as the ground jerked away beneath him. He shifted his fall into a roll, coming up onto his feet just as the boulder shattered. Rembrant raised an arm to cover his face, relying on the Force to trace the movement of the Jedi. Still, the rocks were harsh against his skin, and Rembrant could feel a hot trickle of blood begin to creep from his scalp.
Rembrant lowered his arm, eyes open once again. His voice was icy cold, under complete and total control as he faced the Jedi. "For me, there will never be peace."
And then Rembrant swept forth again, his steps perfectly timed. Suddenly, he halted, feet gripping loose rock as he thrust his palm forward. The Force warped at his touch, sending a billowing shock-wave through the air. It caused the dirt below to undulate, and sprayed the rain harshly outward. The wave was aimed to catch the Jedi dead-on.
Rembrant paused not a second. He bore down upon the Jedi, saber swinging in a graceful downward arc. Suddenly, Rembrant revealed the strike to be a feint, revolving his wrist. The saber came down along the circular path, then up again, an upward curve, slashing toward the Jedi's hip...
Rembrant completed the attack by dancing backwards, for the purpose of avoiding retaliation, his next move depending on the damage that had been done...

(OoC: Well done, quick, simple, yet detailed and clear- I could picture every move Rembrant made. The only thing I could think to add onto this would be to add what he was thinking as he made his moves- def not needed, but I'm curious as to what he thinks about Ozzril...)
It did not please Ozzril to see that blood had already been drawn- but he still would not stop trying to redeem the tainted soul. The man's voice was determined, cold, but by his words, Ozzie knew that this man felt defeated- and not in combat. The old Jedi shook his head, these fallen one's were the hardest to help, and yet, almost every time, he could help them to redemption. "Only a Dark Jedi deals with absolutes son, but as I think you should know- there is always another path..." Ozzril said just as the attack began.
The Jedi felt his opponent draw the Force towards him, a large wave of it sent at him. Ozzril wouldn't be phased from a simple attack like this, the wave was rather powerful however. With his already outstretched palm he gathered the Force and pushed against the wave just as it hit, he shifted his stance to better block the attack. As the wave died Ozzie pushed out once more to clear any dust or dirt that lingered from the attack. Just in time to see the Dark Jedi begin his assault.
The Jedi side stepped away from the initial attack, but the moment he saw the opponents weight shift, he knew it was a feint. Ozzril angled his blade and held it up gently, letting the two lightsabers collide with a quick shower of sparks soon snuffed by the rain. But Ozzie knew how to handle Makashi users. Barely using any energy at all, the master Jedi let the attack roll right off his lightsaber, spinning with a flourish of his own. Ozzie stepped back as the Dark Jedi danced away, taking another Soresu stance- his limbs spread and relaxed, his lightsaber held pointing down towards the ground. Ozzril would try words one more time, but if this continued in vain- he would have to end it, and soon. "Let me help you. It's easier than you think, let go of whatever is hurting you..." the elder Jedi said, his voice weary but stern.

ooc// I have attempted to strike a balance... Though I know not whether my endeavor has met with success... X) // The Jedi's words made no purchase against Rembrant's hardened heart. They were as futile as arrows against rock. The Jedi were afraid of absolutes. They sought loop-holes and veiled logic; they manipulated the destiny of the Force for their own advantage. In many ways, they were more deceptive than the Dark Jedi, for their words were permeated by half-truths and meaningless cryption. Rembrant parried now with tongue, instead of blade. "My path is chosen. This is not my crossroads. That came and left long ago." Rembrant now opened his hand, palm facing the ground. He reached out with the Force. It was not large rocks that caught his attention, nor mammoth boulders. For there were times in which a very great deal of a small thing had much more influence than a single very large thing. And so the pebbles and stones began to rise from the ground, began to circle the Jedi in his defensive stance. Some were long and dagger sharp, and these arranged themselves so that their points focused inward. Around and around the stones whirled, a typhoon of earth. Hate echoed in the Force as Rembrant touched it. It was not hate of the Jedi, nor hate of any other. For every-being simply went about their time in the galaxy, doing what they saw fit regardless of how it affected others. No, the hate that pulsed through the Force at Rembrant's touch was hate of himself. It brought him strength and weakness, it was his savior and his fall. It reminded him of his shortcomings, and drove him to be strong. Yet Hate can be such a fickle thing. Rembrant clenched his fist, and the rocks collapsed upon the Jedi, to be dodged or to sting. "You cannot let go of that which claws at your throat," Rembrant stated, pushing away the second soft touch of friendship. His heart was hardened, and his mind was set. At least... that is what Rembrant thought. And the Force believed him, for as Rembrant unfettered a tendril of simple darkness, the tainted Force welcomed it, amplified it, and the ripple of empathy stretched out into the air. Hate and fear were there in their measured and proper amounts, though the fear was far less distinct. However, the overwhelming proportion of the darkness was suffering, raw and black, harsh like acid rain. Suffering; a simple taste of what Rembrant felt, each and every moment. For his hardened heart had once been ripped in two, and on the inside, it still bled. Perhaps the Jedi would come to his senses and see that Rembrant was far too lost. Rembrant doubted this, however, for the Jedi were as stubborn as they were stupid. He found no relish in combat, would feel no satisfaction at the death of this master. He simply wanted to be left alone to his memories, until his own death came to sweep him away. If killing the Jedi was the only way to make him cease his pathetic musings, then so be it. "My thoughts and my path are not yours to meddle with, and you stake your life on that which you cannot hope to change. Leave this place, and I will not pursue you." The dust from Rembrant's cyclone was finally beginning to settle, and he could look up on the Jedi with more clarity. Rembrant made no move to attack however, letting his words hang in the air. Silently, he wished that the Jedi would heed them. The last thing Rembrant needed was to add yet another name to the list of those he had killed. Another soul to torture him. Yet it was not in Rembrant's nature to compromise, under any circumstances, and so he stood his ground...

(OoC: Gah, I am SO sorry it's taken me so long to get back to mentoring >.< But anyway, here we go! I loved some of your choices of words, specially here: As for a dueling aspect, excellent way to attack. How very Jedi like of Rembrant to think of using smaller attacks versus power house ones But anyway, on to the duel) Ozzril shook his head at the man's first words. "All crossroads begin somewhere, and like all roads, can be backtracked son- it only takes a simple step to begin your return..."Said the elder Mon Cal. It seemed that this was yet another wayward soul who only saw his path as a singular motion, not the ever moving, ever changing ways of the Force the Jedi were taught. As soon as Ozzril began to feel his opponent start to attack once more with the Force. He was surprised that this attack didn't have a lethal feel to it- but the wise Jedi knew better than to let down his defenses. Deactivating his lightsaber, Ozzril held his arms out with palms open and projected a bubble of the Force around him, the rocks and dust simply whirling around the shield. Ozzril could feel the fallen man's emotions through the Force- he was strong, that much he could tell, but feelings of doubt and self loathing were easily apparent. As the man finished his attack, Ozzril pushed with the Force himself, the bubble "popping" and sending any dust or rocks away from the pair harmlessly. "I can feel your torment my friend, the inner turmoil. Your hate does run deep, but it isn't focused at anyone in particular, except yourself... Rembrant... That is your name, isn't it?"Ozzril's eyes drifted closed as he dug deep into Rembrant's mind, though shielded it was, the Sage Master was a difficult one to keep out. He gleamed other thoughts within the man's mind- lost friends, loved ones, and failure. Such terrible pain... Was all the Jedi could think, it pained him as well to see such suffering, never wishing any on anyone. But there was one more feeling that cried out like a frightened child- a feeling that Ozzril clutched onto as if it was a lifeline- he wanted help... Even if Rembrant himself didn't quite realize, the Mon Cal felt it. Almost as if Rembrant had felt his own thoughts Ozzril opened his mouth slightly in a Mon Calamari smile. "Though it may not be my place to 'meddle' as you say, it is my place as a Jedi to help those who need it... and you my friend, need help."The Jedi said as the dust finally settled to reveal him standing there, lightsaber held in one hand, but his free hand held out towards the opponent, another wave of warmth and friendship wafting off the aged Jedi. Let this moot fight end, let me help.... Sent the Jedi over the Force, hoping that this man was as wise as he felt. If they could just start talking, Ozzril was sure he could convince the man to not only turn away from his solitary ways- but most importantly, to forgive himself.

ooc// :P And now it's my turn to take forever. Roffle. Not quite feelin' it tonight, sadly... the quality of the following post is negotiable, but I didn't want to put it off any longer either... :P //
"I can feel your torment my friend, the inner turmoil. Your hate does run deep, but it isn't focused at anyone in particular, except yourself... Rembrant... That is your name, isn't it?"
Rembrant's eyes narrowed. More Jedi tricks. He knew them too well. Develop a sense of familiarity, defuse the anonymity. A name was a powerful thing, and Rembrant knew it.
He knew it even as he knew that Rembrant was not his true name. And he knew it even as he knew the name held no power over him. Yes, he hated himself. That was no new discovery, no profound statement. Rembrant had no reason not to hate himself; all his pain, all his suffering, it had been his own doing. It was something he had learned to accept. If the Jedi thought this revelation would gain him any respect, then he was gravely wrong.
And then Rembrant felt it; he felt the presence of the Jedi sink into his mind, like a smoky fog, an invading tendril... the muscles of his neck tensed. He threw around strong emotions, passions, knowing they would grate against the Jedi's mind. Intents, memories, feelings he could hide beneath the loud noise, the static. And despite all the truth in that static, it was not the full story. Rembrant resisted as the Jedi moved through his mind. He could not stop the Jedi. But he could make the task harder, make the Jedi weary, compel him to withdraw.
And eventually, the Jedi did, and Rembrant was left with the strangest sensation in his mind... it was like a whisper, like Deja Vu. As if he had just been about to say something, but had forgotten... and such was a rare state for the Arkanian to find himself in; he never forgot what he was going to say, or where his thoughts were going. Ever. This sensation troubled him, but it soon faded away. Or perhaps it became buried, lost in the icy snow drifts of Rembrant's heart, frozen away like so very many other things...
"Though it may not be my place to 'meddle' as you say, it is my place as a Jedi to help those who need it... and you my friend, need help."
Rembrant was unimpressed.
"Helping, you call it? I'll bet you tell that to yourself so you can sleep at night. What you Jedi fail to realize is that there are two sides to the Will of the Force. It is not in and of itself a noble thing, as you love to teach. The Force weaves both the Light and the dark to its will, seeking balance. Surely you see this. Or else you are blind. You have not walked where I walked. You have not felt the Darkness of the Force as deeply as I have. You know only the light. To you, the Darkness is only a story, a shadow in your nightmares. To me the darkness has life, it has depth, and that you will never understand. Delude yourself with your Jedi Arrogance all you will. But leave me be."
The response was cold, the heat and fire of suffering and hate now replaced by a chill as cold as Arkanian wind. And that had always been the pattern of Rembrant's life. Fire always turned to ice. The warmth of the Jedi had as much effect as a single breath against a glacier.
All that was to be said, had been said. Rembrant had given the Jedi a chance to leave, and the Jedi had not taken it. Stubborn fool. And so the Jedi would die.
For a moment, there was still silence.
Zhisss! Rembrant flashed forward like a striking viper, his saber ringing out with feral hiss. He was upon the Jedi in less than a moment, a complicated swirl of attacks, feints, and parries locking blades with the Jedi. His intent was not to harm the Jedi, however. Conversely, he intended to distract him. Soresu blended with Makashi as Rembrant's swift, smooth strokes left no hole in his defense.
Even as his saber left silver arcs hanging in the air, Rembrant began to reach out with the Force. It was a subtle, small thing, and the moving meditation of the Makashi form allowed him to feel it all the more. Into flesh he reached, beyond the skin of the Mon Calamari, and deep within his neck. There he found that smooth structure, that jugular blood vessel which played such a vital role in allowing blood to the brain. If he were successful, if he could tug that vessel, constrict it. The Mon Calamari's body would feel nothing until his vision began to blacken, until his body was no longer his.
The success or failure of this, however, was dependent on the success or failure of Rembrant to sustain the distraction, to tempt the Jedi to continue locking blades, to Force such a completely orchestrated assault, that the Jedi would have no time to attack; only to react...

Yo, hey Kell, we haven't forgotten about you! (or have we? >_> ) We still got yo back, and will pick right up on this, but first, I gotta got to bed, it's very late here Though either Neo or I will pick this one back up in the very near future. EDIT: Well... I think that what we should do is start up another thread. I think since you've already gone, I'll just start something up. From looking at Rembrant, it seems that any Force-user could interact with him, and that it would be best for one to do so. SO... I will begin the thread and intro Rembrant to a fellow named Jack Grozmick. He's my DJ and Sith Emire General, who shares a similar respect for Jedi. Let's see how the two interact, I'm just gonna double post *gasp* the begining and then you can respond.

{OOC: Well, the plan here is just to set the stage, allow for an open response, I feel like it's kinda silly to add, like in a duel, but I'm gonna put a picture in to save words and time, as a picture is worth a thousand words. It's a bit of my guilty pleasure to have Jack in this one, but w/e ;D . I'll just kick this off and see where it goes from there. Les rock! } It was with an air of caution that Jack stepped into the foreboding forest. The fog seemed thick and ancient, so thick, it gave the impression of eyes beyond it, seaching and scouring for the unwitting victim to enter it. The forest was no different, as it felt as if it seeped with evil intent, darkness its only past. Even Jack was filled with apprehension as he entered, wary of any surprise he would find unpleasant. He masked what presence he had in the Force, appearing neutral to whomever did not have eyes to see past his guise. His first few footsteps found him wholely consumed by the grey veil. What lay before him was a yellow-orange path, worn down from decades of travel. It was uncertain what travelers walked here and their fate, what could be told was how gruesome and horrific it felt to walk such a path. Fear would not be a feasible word for describing what Jack Grozmick felt, only caution. His uncertainty at what lay dormant, or even active, here led to his approach and the emotions he now felt. Perhaps he would meet such a traveller as himself on this long, dark road of fate.

ooc// We shall finish this another day, then, my dear Dutch! For Cas, your offer of epic is simply impossible to refuse. xD Due to Rembrant's habits, Ima assume this is on Ruusan again. Just makes everything make more sense. X) //
There were no pressing matters that day. A fresh kill lay preserved in the freezing mountain snow near his cave, and the Wikkas kept their ravaging to the summer. The weather had drifted into a cyclic calm, and the winter chill meant that there was little gathering to do. Yesterday's foraging had replenished his stockpile of herbs, and today... today Rembrant had little to do.
And so, he was able to indulge in one of the best features of his isolated existence. He took a walk.
Most days Rembrant's chore of survival kept him up high in Ruusan's mountains. A few thousand feet below, the tree-like broke, and broad ever-greens dug their roots into the mountain's side. This blanket rolled down until it struck the foothills, and then up again it curved, undulating across the various hills and vales. On the Eastern side, these foothills leveled to a thick expanse of forest, where giant ferns soaked up the dim light, predators prowled, and the litter lay in sheets upon the ground. It was to this place that Rembrant's whims carried him.
As his steps pressed the ground, Rembrant allowed his mind to expand, to trickle outward. He became aware of all the presences of the forest. The shrews and rodents were small, dull shapes, while a few birds of prey provided brighter sparks. In the distance, predatory mammals hummed, but the winter days found them in slumber. Finally, the trees themselves pulsed with a slow, deliberate beat. It was interesting -- though few students ever found the discipline to truly see the Force in plants, it flowed through the vegetation with a vigor much deeper than the fleeting, darting animals.
It was in this wandering that Rembrant became aware of another presence. He would not have noticed it, save for the fact that there was nothing there to notice. When a creature moved throughout the world, it left traces on the world around it -- the plants felt its vibrations, while the rats skittered warily away from it. As such, Rembrant could sense a path being cut through the forest, a wake with no ship. Rembrant was sharp, and he knew that meant someone was present, and that that someone was disguising his presence through the Force.
And that someone was trespassing.
Rembrant's eyes narrowed. He might have prodded the veiled form for information, but doing such would reveal his own presence, and he could not allow that until the proper time. As he followed the wake, Rembrant allowed his presence in the Force to seep outwards. After years of practice, it was almost second-nature. Instead of devoting the effort to raise a veil, Rembrant diffused his presence over a wide area. He would be noticed, for certain, but his exact position would be impossible to pinpoint, and his opponent would never be able to gather up enough of the presence to learn anything save the fact that Rembrant's power was steeped in the Dark Side. His trickling presence bore its taint. Despite that small disadvantage, this Rembrant preferred this diffusion to a shield because it required less than a third of the effort and focus, for one as practiced as he, and it had the peculiar habit of infusing the air with a dark, fearful shudder that Rembrant found oft' worked to his advantage.
With the Force, Rembrant clutched the air around his feet, steadying it and thinning it to muffle the already soft crunch of his feet. Realizing that the wake was following the trail of an old game-path, Rembrant changed his course to intersect it. There he waited.
Being a master of telekinesis, the skill had become ingrained into his subconscious, and so as Rembrant waited, the air around him began to stir. That moving of the air was, in essence, the bases of skills such as Force Push and Force Pull. So when Rembrant allowed his subconscious whims to go unchecked, the breezes began to play. The air cut through the trees, pushing currents of cold, high air down against the leaf-litter. Rembrant's quarry was sure to pick up on the unnatural sway of the air.
Finally, as expected, the trespasser came around a bend in the path, and Rembrant spied his quarry. He surveyed the Humanoid with keen eyes.
The man was tall, taller than himself, a near-human species. Physically, even Rembrant's well-maintained build was out-matched by the hulk of a man. Always wary of the brains/brawn stereotype, Rembrant noticed a sharp, intelligent light in the man's dark eyes, that implied he was one to be wary of. Rembrant's own eyes were naught but a glossy white, opaque as Krayt pearls. They revealed nothing.
"You are trespassing." His voice was deadly even, and an undercurrent of a growl ran through it. "Trespassers will be mutilated. I strongly advise you leave, and by a much more direct route than when you came."
His stance was neutral, neither defensive nor aggressive, and Rembrant let a sinister taint slip into the Force around him. He was not inviting a fight, but if it came, he would welcome it.

{OOC: Well, as it's been said, it's difficult to find much wrong in your posts Kell xD, but there can be some . I found two things that fall in the same category: " With the Force, Rembrant clutched the air around his feet, steadying it and thinning it to muffle the already soft crunch of his feet." and " Rembrant's quarry was sure to pick up on the unnatural sway of the air ... and Rembrant spied his quarry. " You use two words within close proximity, and though that's definitly not a problems, sometimes it tends to sound a bit odd. Other than that there's not much else to say really, your detail is phenominal, one can even visualize Rembrant's subtle use of the Force, and you give me much to work with in a response, something open and within my character's control. Well done here. ;D } It felt subtle at first, like it was done with such ease that it was almost casually placed. A presence. A sinister one. It was hard to place it though, it seemed to cover a broad area, but at the same time, it couldn't be that large. It was as if it had been spread, like a chunk of butter spread out flat over bread. It was diffused, and it was intentional. A clever basterd, thought Jack. He rounded a bend, prepared to meet whosoever it was spreading their presence as outwardly as they were. He couldn't tell where it was, but that it was ahead... somewhere. He rested his hand gently on the lightsaber at his side, and stretched his body in a loosening, jerking motion abrubtly, his shoulder armor bumping with a slight and faint "tink" against his breastplate as he did so. Whoever it was, if they had an aura like that, they were bound to be unfriendly, and those who weren't friendly, didn't generally ask before attacking if they may. As soon as he did so, he rounded the bend and saw him. Arkanian, by the looks of it. Shocked white hair kept in a neat flat-cut, blatently white eyes, and a cold focus look upon his face. He stood a solid two inches shorter than Jack, and though not as large in muscle tone as he, the man had a lean and fit body. To anyone else, the man was, for lack of a better word, intimidating. Jack, however, was not one to be intimidat ed. You are trespassing. Trespassers will be mutilated. I strongly advise you leave, and by a much more direct route than when you came. Said the man who stood opposed to him. There was a tone of anger to it, as if it was a threat. Though in conjunction with the man's neutral demeanor, and an air that seemed to suggest that he wasn't exactly looking to fight, Jack wasn't certain how to approach this man. He seemed distant, but deadly. He decided that he wasn't one to run back down, and he was going somewhere, and had no intention of not being there. Well, my friend, though I do not invite you to try, I would suggest we reach an accord? You see, what I seek lays behind you, while what you seek, I would imagine, lays behind me.
If I am trespassing, then allow me to disolve my crime by exiting this dark and foreboding woods. As, I assure you, it would be in both our best interests not to mutilate one another over petty things such as this. Especially when you come to find that such an instance would lead to your own demise.Jack felt that such an answer would suffice in explaining that there need not be any bloodshed, particularly on this man's part. He wasn't arrogant, more sure of himself, perhaps his response didn't really show that, but it didn't matter, he would no be turning around. He too, reverted to a neutral stance, but with a hint of offensiveness, as he never once took his hand off of the hilt of his lightsaber, as his arm rested gently upon it in more of ready stance than one of distrust. It was the opposer's call as to who was to die or live. Jack hoped he would choose well.
