Mission Name: Holding The Reins Planet: Sernpidal Major NPC Characters: Lord Ruuken Droknel, Captain Granth Participants: Nieraan Onin (Rugs) Xerron Delzaren (Cirith) Koeing Turion (Koeing) Zarene Yin (sparrow) Varulla'aba (lmr) Mission Briefing: Not all the Sith aristocrats were completely happy with the takeover by the Sith Order. One of these aristocrats, Lord Ruuken Droknel, has started to stir up contempt within the Empire and has been demanding more power and privileges. The Order is becoming weary of the possibly turmoil that this may cause within the Empire and move to resolve the problem before it impacts the war effort. A meeting with Ruuken has been arranged at his private fortified palace upon Sernpidal. If talks are to fail then he and his family must be killed, and his private guard crushed to provide an example to any other members of the Empire who may step out of line. Thread: swrponline2.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=sernpidal&thread=15002&page=1----------------------------------------- Ok guys, here's the discussion thread for the mission. Couple of things... First, NPCs. We need someone to play them. Or we could play them ourselves, and maybe rotate when they're interacting directly with our characters. Second, if you have any ideas how the mission should proceed, what role you want your character to play in it, etc, post it below. Once everyone's had a chance to throw in some input we can start this thing.

If push comes to shove, I'd be willing to NPC someone. I don't mind that much, though I think we should wait to see if anyone volunteers as a dedicated NPC.
As far as Nieraan and his role, like I said in the missions thread, he'd basically be there as some muscle. Like most of you know, he's not really the kind of guy you want doing heavy negotiations. But if heads need to roll or someone needs to be interrogated or intimidated, I'm sure he'd do so quite gladly. Also probably could skulk around and look for info if the need arises.

I volunteer Var for taking down the least threatening family members if this thing goes south. Could be interesting for her growth to do something evil.

I'm willing to NPC if needed but as Rugs said we should wait just a little to see if anyone wants to be a dedicated NPCer.
As for Koeing he's up to deal with the negotiations if need be, he was a Consular in the Jedi and knows how to smooth things over when needed.

Don't know if I should post this here or the missions thread, but I was lurking and saw you need a dedicated NPC. I'd be happy to do it, will be interesting to do something different from my normal character.

I'm willing to help out with the NPC's when it comes to direct interaction. I'd like Xerron to be used like an assassin in this one, maybe sneak past the guards and open the gate to let the rest of the team in, or something like that, since that's orginally what I made him for, but, I'm not too picky on this. I'm game for whatever.
I just want him to be part of the action when everything goes down, good or bad because he's an action oriented character, not a thinker...atleast not yet, that could be changing a little bit rather soon. xD

Krey, you're welcome to NPC one (or more) of the NPC characters. There are two names one is the first post, as well as others that might be introduced as needed. The main one of course Lord Droknel. Basically, he was one of the more power nobles before the Sith Order took control of the Empire, and is upset at his loss of power and influence since the Order is calling most of the shot down. As a result he starts making unreasonable demands, and attempting to ferment rebellion and generally undermine the authority of the Order. For the mission, here's the idea I have at the moment. Droknel's palace/fortess is located on top of a steep mountain. He has troops inside the fortress, as well as on the surrounding slopes. There is also a large stationary turbolaser designed to shoot ships in orbit, as well as smaller turrets more geared towards use against smaller atmospheric craft. Two or three of the Sith will enter the fortress to "negotiate." The others will be outside moving to a position where they can take out the large cannon if the "negotiations" go south, which they probably will, allowing a larger carrier that the Sith have parked in orbit to drop troops down. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Other ideas? As for which characters go where under this idea, I would like Zarene to enter the fortress. She'll basically be giving Droknel Renata's response to his demands. Xerron would probably fit better into the "disabling the orbittal defenses" part. Either Koeing or Nieraan (or both) should probably go in the fortress as well as muscle/heavy-hitter, as Droknel would surely have prepared some defenses against the force-users before letting them in his palace.

Happy to be Droknel, and of course his lackeys. However, if Cirith wants to be the other main NPC, Captain Granth, that might work out a bit better.

Sounds good to me. I'd be fine having Nieraan tag along with the negotiating group.

Sounds good to me. Taking out the orbital defenses sounds like fun *keens*. I can help out with Captain Granth, am I just making stuff up as I go?

I guess so? I don't have anything specific in mind, but it would probably be more interesting if Granth and Droknel were at odds somehow?

That could work. Maybe Granth could be more by the seat of his pants, reasonable and sociable, while Droknel is more by the book, stand offish and blunt? Or vice versa.

Was certainly planning Droknel to be arrogant, whiny, vain, entitled, and blunt to the point of being (deliberately or otherwise) rude in that special way people born to wealth seem to be expert at. You know, an aristocrat. However, he's not stupid, and is in fact fairly cunning once you get past the rest of... all that.
So to answer your question... try to be different from that? My first instinct is the Captain as a military man will be more gruff and down to earth, and resentful of having to serve under such an obnoxious prick.
Something to that effect maybe? Or whatever you think's best, whole reason for a second person as an NPC is it gives more diversity as opposed to all of them being hegemonic to my ideas and thought patterns.

A suggestion/observation... the tension between Droknel and Granth is interesting, as long as it doesn't stop them from being a legitimate threat to the Sith on the mission. Granth shouldn't be so resentful that he'd throw Droknel under the bus when the Sith actually attack. He's working for one of the more powerful noble houses in the Empire. That's gotta have some prestige.

If only they made cloaking devices for ships that small.... Alas, they did not. ((So then Var and Xerron's ship wasn't cloaked? Should I edit my old post or...?))

Cloaking devices are restricted tech. No run-of-the-mill shuttle is going to have one. You can edit it or you can just leave it. It doesn't really affect anything.

So, I've been thinking... I don't want to leave Koeing behind completely, since I believe RL issues have kept him away, but any of you think we might be able to keep the character in the background and try to get this moving again? That way we can at least leave an opening for him if/when he returns. Though, with him already stating in the thread he wanted to be the head negotiator, it makes it more difficult to do that.
Of course, I haven't seen Cirith on in a while either...
