The Seige of Bak'mral (OOC Discussion)

Nestled upon the edge of the encroaching Sith battle line, Thila has served as the headquarters for a number of Republic forces in the Outer Rim. The main concentration of these forces is located within the fortress of Bak’mral, a giant structure built into the Escalore mountain range. Within the fortress is General Velsim who has been organizing Republic defenses whilst the Blades and the Senate organize the bulk of the Republic military.

This small planet has drawn the attention of the Sith. Its significance to the Republic war effort on the Outer Rim is substantial; capturing the fortress would lead them closer to the final defense of Taris and eliminating the Republic General would help to shift the morale in both forces.

But it will not be an easy feat, a number of Blades have been working with General Velsim whilst the majority of the Republic’s forces are being organized, and whilst information uncovered by S.A.I. operatives indicates that the planet’s orbital defenses are at an all time low due to the ongoing war, the fortress of Bak’mral is still heavily fortified. The mountains provide a natural defense and combined with powerful anti-aircraft systems, aerial bombardment is too costly an endeavor for the Sith forces, who instead have resorted to invading the fortress through a combination of a land attack and quick-drop shock troopers.

With the Sith army approaching and no hope of reinforcements, the Republic forces find themselves nearly completely trapped within their fortress of Bak’mral.

Ok folks, endgame here is that the Sith win. This opens the door for future fun. Aside from this general point, and unless there's something Jenno is either hiding from me or I forgot, how we get to the end game is open for discussion. So.... Discuss!

For the moment I want to know why the Jedi are there. I know that this is a very valuable position, but these Jedi are an unconnected and unusual cluster. I imagine that Jace would be at the lead, but did he put this small group together to help defend this position? Or were some of them already here and then the others arrived later?

I have a question. Is this a moment in the war that defines the power of the Sith? Should it be a clear victory or should it be a real struggle?

Reading is hard. :3 But no really, that one blurb pretty much answers both of y'all questions. It won't be an easy victory, Aarati, and the Blades were working with the Republic General when the Sith attacked.

I'm not particularly sure what there is to discuss, tbh. Tali is going to be trouncing Jess in this engagement (;P Dutch) and she'll be helping out the soldiers what with her crazy gun slingin' skills. Her TK alone will be runnin' train on all three of those without even tryin' ;P

Six, I'm going to have sniping folks, while trying to make her way to the anti-aircraft artillery systems in hopes to infiltrate and shut them down, sense it looks like she's not just the only Sith military PC but the only "Spec Ops" PC in on this operation. XD

Well, Rah is a set sniper. Chances are she won't have been on planet for the fact of working with this particular general.....though, it's a possibility. She's got some force talent, and she won't at all like working with jedi around...which will make things fun =D

Anyway, I'm thinking she could either be used to try and help get the general away while Jedi act as diversion, or she could just set up post and take pot shots at crack pots. lol

Yeah, I know Nieressack are gonna be triple playing NPC's for a bit and such, but then Dire and I have a duel planned between Tahlia and Jess, which I'm thinking we might take to a separate thread at that point or something. Cause if this is a battle on the scale of Rhen Var, I remember splitting off for duels ended up working really nicely for a lot of people. Plus, what's more iconic star wars than a Jedi and a Sith facing off?

Yeah. I agree with Dutch. Also, while Tahlia will definitely not be leading on any grand scale since Jace is there she would certainly be leading a more localized defense underneath the overall orders of Master Beleren. I'm thinking she'll head up the defense of the Artillery batteries, seeing as they do the most work in any given battle or war. Artillery is called the King of Battle for a reason, after all.

Zark/Mooney, they could be underneath the command of Tali, if you'd all like?

I mean Jace doesn't have to be leading but I suppose it would make sense. As for why the Jedi are there the way they are, it wouldn't be because of him. He has only just recently returned, so if anything he would be one of the last to arrive in defense of the planet. I could have him have some personal history with Velsim to explain why he was put in charge, aside from his seniority.

I would definitely place him as the Senior just based on the fact that he was the Grand Master, and even though two are older then him, he is still the the superior. - I just want a solid base of why the four unusual cluster of Jedi are there since I'm fairly certain none of them have had threads together, and they have a diverse set of points. I just want to know if they all arrived at the same time because they were a group tasked with it, or if they randomly answered a call for aid (Which I find far less likely)

They could have been there by happenstance, or some information was leaked out of the Sith Command. I'm pretty sure that the Jedi were already there, though. But what I've noticed with high ranking officers/people of any type of organization is that there's always some kind of entourage around them. You could always say that the leader was there just to have a little meeting with Veislem? It doesn't have to be jace, either. Anyone else could lead. Or we could just have General Veislem NPC'd and lead the battle from there.

That makes more sense to me, because you can't lead a defense like this from the walls. Not putting a Jedi of Jace's calibre on the walls would be nothing short of idiotic, imho.

So as not to have Six all so lonely I see the sith order putting Honog in with that spec ops group. Many of the sith have seen him as fodder and would want him in the most dangereous and lest glorified mission, his ablity to hide in the noon day sun not with standing. Besides he likes blowing things up, makes him happy.

Why would a sith lord hang out with a sniper? Just have him run in like a little war pig and start blowing things up with his darkness.

Just so you understand, Six is going to be doing sniper work and infiltration/spy shiz to get to the anti-aircraft artillery systems. She's not the Green Beret Commando sort. She does SAI spy/assassin James Bond style stuff, she's not with a team.

Well Shull Ya'su will most certainly not be the leader of the group. He believes in the blades cause, but he's not the 'battle strategy' type. I do personally advocate Jace being the leader because I believe he's the strongest and has the best aptitude. - I suppose the group having met there to discuss the situation with the General is a good idea since they do represent a diverse set of talents.

Well from what I understand of the description, the Blades were already on the planet and had been working with the General. Jace technically isn't a Blade just yet, this is more of his initiation thread XD Anyways we can have it so a strategy was in place having been decided between the general and Blades, and Jace arrives slightly before the battle and takes command. Shiny? or we can honestly just wing it and see how it plays out (y)

I'd say it's fair considering that Republic Brass probably know that Jace once led the Jedi, and would want his expertise and badassness to command. Plus, story wise, this could be a major validation to Jace since returning, cool thought, dontcha think?
