((OOC---Three days After Battler of Thila.))

Six days ago...

Dan Had met a youngling whom he had promised to at least think about teaching. He had promised to meditate on taking her on.

But before he had the chance, he was called away on his first mission, to the Battle of Thila, where he would Meditate on the way to the planet.

Dan had arrived the day of the fight and his side had lost the battle, those who survived the battle had evacuated and they still lost some of those.

Now...

Dan had known he was late by roughly three days...he had promised he would try and get in touch with Onna about four days ago. He hadn't had the time to actually meditate on the subject of a student, but as long as she listened to orders; which was something he had thought she was so far good at, that he would take her on.

It was still early yet and he had already talked about it with a council member, which should make it official.

He entered the clan areas where he was greeted by one of the masters.

"Is there something you need?"

Dan who was clothed in his darker than normal robes with arms folded under his sleeves answered.

Yes, a few days ago i met a youngling named Onna, we talked about me taking her as a padawan...

A smile and a nod from the clan mother,
"You are early, they normally aren't awake at this time, but perhaps we can sneak a peak into their room, if not you are welcome to come back later."

With that she turned and directed him into the dark room with mostly sleeping young-lings.

"Onna?....are you awake?" a calm whisper that wouldn't startle even a bug came from the master as Dan stood leaning against the doorway.

While she was waiting for a response she moved to the room that was out side the doorway and turned to Dan only whispering again,
You are Dan correct?

A whisper from Dan this time,
Yes...

"Ahh i thought she said something about you, She quite admires you. Also you're late! She said you would be here days ago."

I was held up by a mission, the Battle we lost on Thila?

Ahh... yes... i heard of that unfortunate occurance.

Their conversation would continue until Onna would either weak up, or he would leave and come back later.

[Shadow]

"Onna?....are you awake?"

Onna heard the voice of the clan mother calling her. She was awake because she couldn't sleep. She hadn't slept much since Dan said he would meditate on taking her as a padawan. She wondered why he hadn't contacted her. Onna had only had one conversation with Dan but she felt like he would have contacted her even if he didn't want her to be his apprentice.

Onna finally decided to get up and walk towards the open door. The light shinning through the door was bright. She wondered why the clan mother was wanting her only this early in the morning. Her eyes were still adjusting to light when she walked through the door. All she could she was two people standing by the door.

"Good morning" said the clan mother

Onna could finally pick out the second person it was Dan! Looking back on the day she had met Dan it felt like to had been years ago but really it had only been a matter of days. Why had he been late. There was a look on his face something that hadn't been there when Onna had met him. It was a look of defeat. That was the reason he was late Onna thought. She ignored it and smiled at Dan. Happy that he was back.

Good morning....Your late

She wanted him to feel a bit bad for being late.

Dan had but only smiled when Onna had finally emerged from the room with the clan.

Dan flicked a wrist shutting the door behind her so that he could speak up without waking the others.

Good morning....Your late

Onna said and Dan replied jokingly.

Yes...Believe it or not, i an tell time. I was assigned on a unexpected mission.

Dan sighed thinking on it again, but pulled him self to the here and now,

At any rate i thought it over...And I've desided...

Dan didn't say for a few seconds, letting her start to worry, there was no sign of a yes or a no on his face.

That...I'm going to accept you as my padawan!


Dan smiled as he knew that she would no doubt beam with joy and his answer.

Dan was taking forever to answer. Onna was about to burst if he took any longer to answer then she thought she might die. Then the doubts set in. What if it was a no that he couldn't that the mission made him have doubts and he decided not to. Onna didn't know what to think at this point. There was nothing in his face telling her that it was a yes or and no. She could tell that there was worry on her face. She almost spoke up and said something that she understood that he couldn't take her on as a padawan. Dan spoke up at this point.

That...I'm going to accept you as my padawan!


Onna didn't know what to say. There was just no words to explain how she felt. This is what she had been dreaming about. All the doubts she had for the past few days were gone. She kept trying to say something but nothing came to mind. Smile was all Onna could do. She knew she should say something but she just didn't know what to say. Then she decided that she should thank Dan for this chance to be his padawan.

Thank you! Thank you Dan!........I just don't know what to say.........I wont let you down......I will work my hardest listen to what you want me to do. You won't have to worry about me I can do what you want me to do.

Onna just couldn't stop smiling.

Dan couldn't help but smile as well, and from the look on the clan mother, this was one of the most unusual pairings she had seen in at least a long time.

Now this is my first time teaching so it's a first for both of us. But for now we don't need to talk about scheduling and work, i haven't eaten anything this morning and i know you haven't either. Onna...go get any of your belongings you have, training saber, any thing like that.

He asked, though now that he was her teacher it would seem more like a request from now on, something both him and Onna would likely need to get used to.

He stood from his chair and gave a bow to the clan master,
Thank you for your help and your time, I shall take good care of your old student.

A bow as well came from the clan mother.
"Thank you."

Dan stood waiting by the exit for his new student.
He almost wanted to pinch himself to make sure he wasn't sleeping, had hoped this wasn't about to be the dumbest thing he would do in his life.

Onna wasn't used to taking order from Dan but she knew that she was going to have to get used taking orders from him so she didn't say anything. All she did was nod and went and got her things. Onna didn't have very many things. All she really had was her training saber and some extra robes. She turned on the light above her bed and grade the few things she had.

There wasn't anyone she need to say goodbye to because she didn't really talk to anyone. She turned off her light hoping she hadn't woke anyone up. Then she looked at her bed knowing full well that she would probably never she it again. She remembered everything she had done since she was a youngling. That no matter what had happened that day this space was always her and she would never see it again. It didn't really bother her it was just weird to think that she wasn't a youngling anymore that she was actually a padawan. She then walked through the door of the clan room for most likely the last time. She closed the door of the room and walked over to Dan.

I'm ready.

Dan waited on his new padawan and left for the food hall, a slow walk, his own quiet foot steps where fallowed by those of another...Onna's.

When they entered he picked up and filled a mug with coffee, and got steak and eggs for his main meal, than he approached one of the many vacant tables in the large room.

He sat for a few seconds by himself until Onna caught up with her food.

What did you get?
He asked trying to get a conversation going with his new padawan, he had already decided to go easy on her training for a couple of days for her and him both to get used to the schedule.

After she answered he spoke again.
After we eat, I'll need to know how much you've learned so i can tell where to start your training. I'll give you a few days to get used to the new schedule and rooming order before we start in on it.

He took a sip of his coffee awaiting the day.

After they ate Onna told Dan what she had learned. She told him that she had learned Shii-cho pretty well. She had learned mostly protection in her force skills. They talked for a while about how the next few days were going to go. That they were going to be different then what she had known as a youngling. That training was going to be harder then her youngling training.

They discussed her schedule that will be a little different everyday for the next few days so they could get used to it. They talked about her training for the next few days. Plus what time she should get up everyday. They talked about how they could work together to make both of them better. After everything they talk about Onna had one last question.

AmI aloud to leave the temple now?

After quite some time of constant discussion Dan thought he had covered most of at least the important things.

Onna had asked another question before he went to return his trey, so he stood and walked to the trey return area, and while walking answered her question.

From what I can tell you can leave the temple yes... But I or another Jedi will need to company you, at least for a while.

Dan walked to the door, turned to make sure Onna had no trouble with her own trey... and than left for the Rooming area.

Alright... I've arranged for you to have a room of your own it's six rooms from my own, he said as he stopped at the door of Onna's new room, he used the key card he was given and opened the door revealing a small clean room, with a bath room area over in a corner. There was no window, but like all other rooms was a small computer monitor system that allowed access to the Holo news network.

He handed her the key card,
I'll be meditating in my own room, when you're settled meditated or shower up or anything you might want to do but i an hour we'll begin with an easy lesson.

He turned and walked 6 rooms down to his room and than once inside and locked the door, sat straight on the floor cross legged and began meditating on the long day ahead.

Onna started to get settled in. She put her extra set of robes in a small chest a the end of her bed. After she had got settled in she looked around. It wasn't anything special but it was her room. It was the first time since she had gotten her own room since she had been a youngling. There was no window which Onna really wished that there was on it would make the room feel brighter. Then Onna didn't didn't really know what to do. It was really quiet. At this time in the day her room would be filled with noise. People would be saying good morning and getting ready to go eat breakfest. To was weird that she wasn't with them/ It was weird that she had already eaten and normally after she had eaten she would know what to do next. Now it was up to her to pick what to do.

Onna after a few more minutes of thinking she decided to meditate because she knew that today was only going to get weirder. She then started to reflect on the pass few days and how it had felt like years. Onna could only think that the meeting in the training room was no accident. That her masters had told her clan to do that assignment was meant to be on that day because in just to more days Dan would have been on a mission. After what had only felt like a few minutes was really longer because Onna heard a knock on the door.

Dan had sat meditating on the day that had already moved by fast. He had come to the conclusion that teaching Onna would have to start the same way that his own master had taught him. First though, Dan and Onna would need to get to know each other better than the two did now.

Dan and Laxes had known each-other for several months of just talking, he had spoken with Onna for less than a full days worth of being in the same room. So first on the list was simply talking, finding a good subject that both could grow on, building a friendship.

Why couldn't you still be here master?
Dan thought out into the force, knowing all to well the spirit of Laxes wouldn't return to help instruct him in this new task.
Instead he remembered an old conversation with him. One that he had as a child.

Why did you think it would be easy to teach me master?

The Jedi taught me didn't they?

Dan didn't recognize it than, but Laxes had been telling him that with enough will, any task could be done.

He opened his eyes to see the time, the hour had gone by...not only had it gone by but it was 30 minutes past the time he had said.

He stood and stretched than walked to the door, down the hall and gave a light 'knock, knock, knock'.

When Onna opened the door for him, he spoke jokingly,
Yeah...30 minutes late...i swear i can tell time.

He smiled.

And i have thought about todays lesson...

Onna smiled when she saw and heard what Dan said. To tell the truth she hadn't even realized how long it had been. Although this was Dan second time being late hopefully it wouldn't be a problem. She thought more about it and thought that Dan seemed like the type of person that it wouldn't be a problem. That was the problem though Dan SEEMED like he wasn't but how could Onna really know. They had only really had one real conversation she didn't know anything about him.

I've thought about it also.........

If all that meditating did anything for her it was that she learned she needed to know more about Dan to be able to learn from him.

Dan didn't quite know how to start the conversation, but he did decide he would be the one to start it.

Well... He said as he slowly stepped into the small room,
How about you start with some question about me? Than i suppose we go back and forth. Dan pulled the chair at the desk to him and sat on it figuring the Onna would more likely sit on the bed, he sat his right ankle on his left knee and than asked,
So whats the first thing you want to know?

Onna walked over to her bed and sat down and thought for a moment there was so many questions she wanted to ask Dan but she didn't know were to start. She could ask him how old he was when he was found by the Jedi. What was his masters name. What was the thing he had the most trouble learning as a padawan. What was his first mission. There was so many questions but none of these were really the once she wanted to know. Yes all of these were good questions but she wanted to know more about Dan personally then about these other things. She didn't just want to know about what his favorite things were or how old he was when he joined the order. Onna wanted to know things that would help her learn more and be a better padawan. She thought about it a moment more and then replied with a question.

I guess the best question to start is off would be.......What makes you you?.......What in your past makes you who you are today?.....Plus who are YOU exactly?

Onna thought that this was a good first question that it would answer a lot of the questions that she wanted to know the answer to. The answer to the question probably wouldn't help her become a better padawan but it would help to get to know Dan better and it would help her think of some better questions that would help her know who Dan was.

Dan thought for a second before answering.
Well...i guess part of it is that i have no memory of before i was in the order, i got taken by a master at an early age, he taught me every thing he knew. He was a very good teacher, i think I push myself to much because i was his last student and his only sucsess.

Dan said with his hand on his chin thinking back to his past and how he had undergone hours of training. Something he wasn't sure on how to handle with Onna, would he train her hours on in? Would he teach her several things at once? It was tiring to be a teacher even for only an hour already.

What is your view on the war, I'm a blade, do you think the Jedi should stay out of the fight, or like the blades get involved? He said looking to his new padawan as he asked the question.

Onna about the question. She wasn't really expecting the question at all. She thought about both sides of the situation. The blades and other joined the war and were helping people saving people lives but the Jedi thought that they should staid back make sure that they were making the right dissension. Onna under stood both sides of it. The blades just couldn't stand back and watch people get hurt and die, but the Jedi thought that by waiting they could save many more lives. Onna knew in her heart what side she agreed with.

I feel like the blades are right in the whole thing.....people like the blades are saving lives.

Onna thought about another question to ask Dan but her thoughts were still on the war. A lot of times the younglings would forget about the war. It didn't affect them at all she then thought how selfish that really was.

Did you like your training as a padawan?........Are you going to train me like you were trained? She said wondering how her training was really going to go.

I feel like the blades are right in the whole thing.....people like the blades are saving lives.

Dan thought about that, it was almost word for word his own view on the war, than he recognized her next question again as something he had been thinking about.

Dan smiled,
Yes i did enjoy my padawan years, as for how I'm going to teach you i doubt that i would the same way i was taught; I don't think I'm as experienced as my master was, more likely I'll be teaching you basic things for a while before we get into more difficult tasks.

Dan thought about it for a few seconds and decided he had answered the question wisely.

You've never flown in a ship before have you? He thought that she would have to not be motion sick if she was ever to leave the planet. What do you think about it? Are you one of the type who things if we should fly we should have wings? Or do you think it as.... something needed as an every day part of life? Dan really didn't know what type of question that was, but as long as all he was trying to do was get to know Onna better there really was no wrong question or answer.

Onna thought about it she hadn't ever really even thought about it. She hadn't even noticed that she had never been on a ship. She hadn't even seen the in side of one. Then Onna thought about racing through the stars. How fun it would be to be able to go to different planets since she has always lived on Corascant. Onna really thought that she would love to fly.

Know it was Onna's turn to ask a question again. What else did she want to know about Dan. There was still many things she could ask but what was the most important to her. She could asks him more about when he was a padawan. She could ask him more about how he planned to train her. These were questions about her though not about him. So she decided on a better question.

So I know you like to fly in your ship but why do you like to fly? She asked this question to know why he liked curtain things.

No I have never even been on a ship and I would love to fly on one. I really think since we have to means to fly that we should.

Dan nodded he was at least happy to know she didn't HATE flying. Dan listened to Onna's question.

Dan thought about the first time he had flown, and began answering her question.
Well it started as kind of a hobby, when i couldn't go on dangerous missions with my master i would study and have practice flights, over time i got to fly a real ship than on got a couple of missions where i needed a starfighter and that's the one i got now. I've spent many hours working on it and making modifications that suit me. But you really should see the view up there sometime.

Dan said as he looked to the holo time piece on the wall, it had been 15 minutes sense he had been in here with Onna.

We'll only do a short amount of training today, and just as we learn from speaking to each other, we also learn about each other from observing each other work, we can continue this conversation through out the day while we work, but for now i think it would be a good time to begin some sort of training, that way we help you get used to it. What exactly do you want to start with?

Dan said as he seemed ready to get started with the day, not because of wanting to end the conversation, but more because his own schedule was normally already started. And from what he guessed Onna's original schedule was normally started by now too.

He was going to go extra easy on her because he knew she hadn't gotten much sleep and wasn't adjusted to his work schedule, and as he had promised he would go easy on her for a few days until she was ready for harder tasks.

Onna thought about what she wanted to start with. She could start with what she started with as a youngling or she could start with something completely different. It sounded like the choice was hers.

Onna stood up stretching her legs. She wasn't hunger quite yet so she could train with her training saber or she could start with learning more about the force.

Well I guess we could start with learning more about the force. Onna said with a smile.

Onna thought that she could learn a lot from Dan this was just the start of her training and Dan seemed like he knew a lot. For all she knew he could teach her something has simple as learning to clear her mind more, or something like trusting in the force more. Onna thought that this day was going to be a long one though.
