Tov checked the clock on the wall in the room. It was ten minutes before the High Council was going to be end the session for the day and hewould had made an appointment with Master Oki. As he hoped up from his chair he reached out and quickly pulled his robes to him. Exiting his room he took off at a nice pace trying to make it there before they were dismissed.
The Twi'lek reached the stairs up to the Council Chambers. Taking the steps two at a time was easy for the long legged man. He quickly made his way up the hundred or so steps. Stopping to catch his breath for a moment before he carried on. Seeing people walking around he knew he should walk quickly not run the rest of the way.
Setting out at a brisk walk his robe acting like a cape with the breeze. Weaving in and out of people he was nearly there. He was the first of the Councilors start to exit the chambers. Tov picked up the pace reaching the large opened areas where he had waited for Ply to be Knighted. His mind reached back at that moment as he waited for Master Rune Oki to emerge for the Council Chambers.

It had been a little less than a week since Rune had been back at the Temple on Coruscant. He had taken the call from the Council on Mustafar. Then afterwards had packed up himself and Kalan and caught the first shuttle ride back to Coruscant. The Council wanted him to be their newest member, to take up an empty seat.
Rune was still unsure about his new position. He felt unprepared, felt young even at his age to be on the Council. But he knew if that was the case, they wouldn't have asked him. Perhaps it would just take time to get used to.
He did feel sorry about Kalan though. Rune had been dragging the boy across the galaxy the past couple of weeks. He had wanted to train the miraluka away from the hustle and bustle of Coruscant. Somewhere peaceful would've been nice for the both of them. And Rune had almost got him to open up about his fears on Mustafar.
Almost being the keyword.
Now Rune had taken to assigning Kalan different things to study in the Archives during the day while the Mon Calamari was in-session with the Council. Today was suppose to be astronomy. And then after that they would have more physical training. It hadn't taken long to set up a routine.
The session ended, and the rest of the Council members filed out of the room. Rune leaned back in his chair and sighed, reviewing what notes he had taken during the meeting. It was a lot to take in during the day, with small breaks here and there.
Rune's stomach grumbled. It was time to leave, he would grab Kalan and they would go to dinner, and discuss the boy's studies. Sounded like a good plan at the moment. Gathering his things, Rune left the Council Chamber.
Only to be met by a purple Twi'lek. Master Tov, if he remembered correctly. It all came flooding back then. Tov had scheduled an appointment with him, wanting to talk... about something. He couldn't remember. Well, Kalan would have to look after himself for a little longer.
“Master Tov. I'm sorry, I forgot about our meeting. What was it you wished to talk about again?”
Rune adjusted his saber in his ocean blue sash while Tov answered. He needed to stretch as well, perhaps a walk would work well.
“Follow me, I know a nice courtyard with a garden. We can talk privately there.”

Tov was brought out of his thought by the Mon Calamari Master speaking to him. Slight slightly bowing to the Council Member. He started to follow him down the corridor.
"Yes, Master I am here seeking advice about a Padawan. I have one in mind already."
Tov said placing his hands in the opposite sleeves of his robe. Walking a few more feet he turned to the Master that was only seven years older. And even with them being the age they were, they were still some of the younger Masters in the Order.
Rune spoke again talking about a garden in the courtyard. Tov had been at the Temple for forty years and still hasn't seen the whole thing. One reason was that parts of it was for Council Members only. Following Master Oki for what seemed like an eternity that reach the stairs Tov flew up only moments ago.
Walking down the steps Tov started think of what other questions to ask Master. He was a wise man and his name was known amongst the small circle Tov was in. It wasn't often that he could look another person in the eye. With Rune he could, the fish-like master was only couple inches shorter than the Twi'lek.

Rune led the way down a hallway, towards a turbolift. The courtyard was a short walk and a long lift ride away. The place was hardy a secret, Rune had visited the garden on many occasions, first when he was a youngling. He always found fresh air helped him think.
The Mon Calamari got into the lift, Master Tov following him. He keyed the lift to go down, and then began questioning the Twi'lek on the situation. Why waste valuable time? Perhaps he could get back to his own padawan if their meeting went smoothly.
“So if you already have one in mind, I don't see the problem. Is there an issue with the student?”
The lift started moving, and Rune turned the face out of the glass the lift was made out of. The sun was setting on Coruscant, but that didn't mean much for a city that never slept. Still, the sunset was always a beautiful scene. Orange and yellow and red all mixed together, as if the colors had been dumped into a mixing bowl, stirred up, and then poured out.
Rune remembered that not very long ago, the Council had given him permission to start training Kalan. They had really met by chance, literally bumping into each other in the hall that housed the youngling's classrooms.
To tell the truth Rune hadn't been looking for a padawan, even though the Council had told him to find another. He felt Iago's fall was his fault, and he didn't want another Jedi to face the same teaching. But sometimes things just happened, the Force had two people come together.
Perhaps Tov was facing the same self doubt.
“Do you have a problem with taking another padawan, Tov?”

Tov follows Rune into the lift, hearing the masters question he pondered the question. There was a slight problem, the said Padawan was confined to the Temple.
"There is a slight problem. The Padawan is Gharassk Ran. I have heard that he had been confined to the Temple."
Tov said turning to face the glass as Oki did. The sunset was spectacular, it was like someone was throwing paint off the roofs in the distance. The yellows, reds and oranges mixing together in the air. It was simply beautiful.
The next question was a hard one. He really didn't have a problem taking another student. It was a big responsibility to take care of one for ten years. Luckily Ran was only six years away from potentially becoming a Knight. With the duel they had Tova'nas had no doubts that the Togruta Padawan would pass.
The lift doors opened.
"I really have no problem with taking another student. I worry because of how Gharassk lost his Master. I think he would have trouble getting close and opening up to me fearing I will fall."

The lift doors opened to reveal an average sized courtyard, with a large garden in the center. The garden housed plants and flowers from all over the galaxy. In the middle of the garden was a small pond, with different kinds of fish. One particular tree was blocking out the remained of the sunset, sending it's shadow across the ground and over the wall where the lift was housed.
Rune led the way over to a bench on the edge of the courtyard, overlooking the city below. He sat, and put his datapad down on the bench next to him. Motioning for the Twi'lek to sit as well, he started to address his issues. Gharassk Ran... Gharassk... The name sounded familiar. But Rune couldn't be expected to keep up on everyone in the Order now that he was a Councilor.
“All padawans are confined to the Temple without a Master, just like younglings. That isn't a problem.”
However, Rune could deduce from context clues that Gharassk's master hadn't left the Order in the most pleasant way. It always pained Rune to hear of a Jedi falling. He always thought back to Iago, and how torn he had been, how angry.
Tav was worried about Gharassk not being open to a new master. It would be understandable if the padawan wasn't. Padawans were always hurt when they lost a Master, and vice versa. To be open would require a lot of trust. Tav would have to show that he was worthy of such a thing. Now how to word it correctly...
“If I were you and I wanted my padawan to be more open, I would open up first. Your new student needs to know that he can trust you.”

The Twi'lek exited the lift after Rune, following him into the courtyard. It was one that he hadn't seen yet. Though he hardly was over in this part of the Temple on a daily basis. His day consisted of waking up going for his morning run, then couple hours in the training room. That's followed by morning classes with the Younglings then lunch. Then he had some free time to do stuff. Then his afternoon was full with older Younglings with advance Shii-Cho.
Looking at the garden her recognized many of the plants from the different worlds he had visited. Flowers, bushes and a huge tree that blocked the sun. As he approached he saw a fish jump out of he pond and catch a bug. Getting grin on his face. Looking over to Oki seeing he was gesturing for him to sit, Tov sat next to the Mon Calamari Master.
Listening to what he had to say was helping Tov. It was a lot of help to speak with another person and get another perspective on it. Anas sat in silence for a few more moments before answering.
"You are right Master, trust is the key to a solid connection between Master and Student."
Tova'nas agreed, he would have to relate to Gharassk.
"I hope im not keeping you from anything Master."
Tov added with a concerned tone.

“Don't worry about it. My padawan can spend a little extra time in the Archives by himself.”
It was comforting just to sit in the garden for awhile. Rune leaned back on the bench and watched the sunset. For some reason, this courtyard at this time of day always made him peaceful. It's beauty was enough to distract anyone, no matter what their problems were.
And Rune was interested in getting to know Master Tov a little better. It was rare Rune got any time to meet Jedi nowadays. He had friends from his time as a youngling, but they were distant now, as time and travel always kept them apart.
“So, Tov what do you for the Order? And tell me about this new padawan. Anything special planned? I had hoped to train my own on Mustafar. We were their for a week before I got the call from Coruscant to come back.”
It was a shame, Mustafar had been such a nice planet, so out of the way. And Kalan had almost opened up about his fears in that forest. Rune had been so close to the mystery, and then pulled far away by duty.

The Twi'lek nodded at Master Oki. He respected the Mon Calamari Master that he could sit on the Council and still teach a Padawan. That was a lot to commit to but most did other things around the Temple and still took on a Padawan. Tov sat and watched the sun set over the city. As it got darker the lights all over the city started to flicker on.
"I currently teach advanced basic Shii-Cho to the older Younglings. The ones that are just about ready to be paired with a Master."
The Purple Twi'lek said as he thought about what he had planned with the Togruta Padawan. He really hadn't got to know the you boy but he could tell that he would be anew challenge. Unlike his first Padawan, Plya, she was gentle and a quick learner. Though he would over time see how Gharassk would adapt to Tova'nas' teaching methods.
"Im not too familiar with Gharassk. Though he has much to learn. I have plans to take him Chandrila to a secluded region on the forrest to bond and get to observe what we need to work on."
Master Anas replied glancing over to Rune. The man was wise but he treated Tov like an equal unlike some of the Council members when he was growing up. But that was close to twenty-five years ago.

“That must be a nice job, teaching the younglings. Don't think you're not doing anything for the Order. A teacher can have quite the influence over someone.”
Teachers were the most important part of the Jedi Order, or so Rune thought. They could make or break a student. Decide what path they took. Influenced their choices. That's why younglings became paired with Masters around the age of twelve.
Of course, then you had a whole new teacher. A master. A padawan's master was directly responsible for anything that happened to that padawan, whether that was a death or even falling. Most Jedi might share Rune's view, but that's how he felt.
He knew he was responsible for Iago's fall.
Most teachers started out right after they were knighted. Most were young, and restless because they were stuck in the Temple. That's how boring teachers were made. But for Tov to still be teaching now as a Master, it must've been something he loved to do.
“I take it you like to teach them? I wouldn't expect a Master to still be teaching a youngling class.”

Nodding to Master Oki knowing that he was right. Teaching was one of the cornerstones of the Jedi Order. Tov had been doing it since he became a Master, he was offered other positions. Though he had picked teaching over them all because he enjoyed seeing the Younglings succeed. The joy that came over them when they got a kata down correctly.
"Yes Master, I enjoy teaching. It is very rewarding, seeing the Younglings accomplish something and seeing the joy that washes over them. Gives me hope for the future of the Order."
Tov sat and watched the sun set. It had now turned the sky to a deep purple darker than Tovs cloak. He so enjoyed this time of day on Coruscant. It was so peaceful, everyone going to their evening duties. The clan leaders making sure their youngling are in their rooms and secure.
"Master Oki, hope I'm not imposing. What were your duty before being assigned to the High Council?"

“No, you're not imposing.”
Rune was silent for a moment. The fall of Mon Calamari still weighed heavily upon him. It was his fault, he was the Watchman over the world. Maybe if he had only been stronger or faster, the planet wouldn't have fallen. He had spent many night meditating on the event, trying to tell himself it wasn;t his fault. But the fall of his homeworld to the Sith, while he was suppose to be protecting it, just wasn't something he could get over.
The Jedi Master remembered fighting the Sith in the streets, while laser fire came from every direction. The coral buildings toppled under the bombardment. Ships rained from the sky in endless supply. He had been making headway in the battle, but the Republic forces he was leading were the only ones. The Mon Calamari would've kept fighting, but the Republic Command issued a full retreat. The last ships were leaving. If he would've kept fighting, it would've certainly meant the end for him.
Rune still thought that the worst part was that Mon Calamari wasn't even a full Republic planet yet. The only it had been targeted was because of it's shipyards, and because the Republic had been interested in them. If they hadn't been, perhaps the peaceful world could've gone most of the war without being involved.
“I was on Mon Calamari, serving as their Watchman. I was trying to help the Republic integrate the world in the government. Then when the Sith attacked, I fought. We could've held the planet, but they made the decision to retreat instead.”

"Im sorry to here that Master. I haven't set foot on Ryloth. I wouldn't know what it would be to loose your native planet."
Tov had planned one day to see the planet that his race came from. But with his duties at the Temple didn't let him have much time to travel. Most of the traveling he did was on be hast of the High Council or one of the other Councils.
He knew once he became the Togruta Padawans Master he would be given missions that would be training for the boy. He felt confident that Gharassk would be a fine choice for a student. The small sparing session that they had showed that he was well versed in sabers. Though he still had much to learn, but could Tov learn from the Padawan as well.
"Master, I thank you for taking time out of your schedule to meet with me. I know you must be busy. "
