Operation Loot 'n Scoot (Spearpoint - Looters)

Ethan walked out of the doorway backwards, firing his slugthrower rifle. The sound of it's echos died away as he took cover by the enterance. There, a few other Spearpoint pirates were taking cover as well, unable to get past the mercenary's squad so far. He nodded to one to come over, a young human, and take up a position on the opposite side of the door.

“Go to this derelict dreadnaught they said...”

“Aye, sir -”

“It'll be fun they said...”

“Aye, sir. Any ideas?”

This had not been a good day so far. Ethan had gotten some information about an ancient Sith warship, dead in space from a war long ago. On board was promised to be more treasure than one pirate could dream, if he wasted away all the dreams of his life. Yet, the informant that told Ethan about the ship failed to mention Sith privateers and a mercenary band were alright fighting over it. They also forgot to mention the parts of the ship that were missing pieces of it's hull.

It wasn't until Spearpoint was attacked once they were onboard that they knew about the other groups. Spearpoint had saw no large ships in Space. They lost a couple guys in the surprise attack. Then one of the guys spoke up with a plan, still wanting to have a successful mission. After all, their paychecks depended on it.

The plan was simple; Split the ground team up, have some head for the cargo hold and some push into enemy territory. Those fighting would draw heat away from the looters, and then once they got what they came for they could all leave happy. Ethan couldn't think of anything better to do, so he sent Horst, Ervisa a couple others to round up an attack. And then the Mandalorian had taken everyone else for the cargo hold.

But they had still ran into resistance. The plan wouldn't draw everyone of course. First it had been a couple troops, easily taken out. Now there was something of a makeshift barrier to stop Ethan and his pirates. It wouldn't last forever though.

Ethan grabbed a metallic sphere from a pouch on his belt and threw it to the guy that had taken up cover near the door with him. The pirate caught it, almost dropping his rifle as he did so. And then his eyes went wide. After all, Ethan and throw him a thermal detonator.

“When I say now, toss that in.”

“This is gonna blow a hole right through the hull!”

“If we were anywhere near the hull. We're close to middle of the ship, son.”

The other pirate gulped, but he seemed to be okay with the plan now. Thermal detonators were known to be extremely deadly of course, and sometimes unstable. They were quite illegal, except for military. Though, none of that mattered. It was going to tear a hole in the mercenaries cover, and that's all Ethan cared about.

“Ready... NOW!”

The pirate pushed the button on the sphere and threw it into the entrance. Ethan leaned in after it, firing at the mercenaries. If they got the right idea, they could chuck the thermal detonator right back at the group of Spearpoint pirates. That would end this mission real quick, and Horst would probably be in charge afterwords. Permanently.

A couple shots made sure the mercenaries stayed down, and then the explosive went off. Ethan got back into cover as quick as he could once it did. One ear-splitting moment later, everything was over. The Mandalorian got up from his cover slowly and walked down the hallway at the same pace, brushing his armor off absent-mindlessly, for no reason at all.

The hallway was buckled and scorched in the spot the explosive had went off. A burning smell filled Ethan's nostrils the more he stood there. A large black spot was under his feet. The detonator had done it's job, ripping through the makeshift cover and mercenaries alike. There was a clear path to walk through now, as pieces of the cover were everywhere, even imbedded in the wall a little bit.

“Alright gents, finish up, make sure no one is still breathin'. And then someone tell me what direction we're goin' again.”

A couple pirates laughed as Ethan turned on spot, looking down multiple ways. The firefight had caused him to have some misdirection.

Group missions? Yea, these were not Zwei's style of fighting, especially when he was paired up with a group of rag-tag pirates infiltrating some old, PoS Sith Dreadnaught for some treasure. But what did the man do?: he said ok, and began working with these guys.

Not too long ago, he and one of the top members of the group known as Azura landed on the planet holding the base for the pirate group known as Spearpoint. After some conversing, some alliances were formed, and he was left with this group. It wasn't indefinite, and he did other work, but he was ultimately the one and only assigned here, because he was the best withing Azura, and therefore the best offer of friendship.

Back in the present, Zwei took a knee, shooting his rifle down a hallway while Ethan, the leader of Spearpoint, and therefore his new boss, backed up, shooting his own rifle to provide cover for the older man. When he was through, Zwei backed up some, taking up more of a supporting position with his accurate, bull-pup style rifle. Using his superior, and artificial, eyesight, Zwei continued his fire, anytime he saw the body-heat lean from cover, he would send a round or two down at it. There was a good chance it would hit as well.

Good thing he didn't need to wait for long, as Ethan had someone throw a grenade... make that a thermal det, down the hallway and brutally annihilate, the opposing force. The man clad in black took this time to change out the magazine for his rifle, switching the large AP rounds he was using for much smaller, higher velocity rounds. The magazine held five times as many rounds as the other, so he wouldn't need to change out. It was good to have his favorite Verpine rifle with him.

Zwei had to admit, these guys in this group fallowed Ethan well, who put off a confident, leadership quality. It wasn't something that Zwei could really feel, but that wasn't anyone elses problem, so long as he did what he was suppose to, like always. When Ethan asked where they were, Zwei walked up, his rifle now magnetized to the light armor on his back, pressing a few buttons on some weird armpad. A shimmering blue hologram of their surrounding location popped up: red showing them the direction they came from, and yellow indicating the pre-plotted route that was decided just prior to coming here.

We're getting closer. Our next big obstacle is going to be the elevators; not because of these mercs, but because they may not be working.

Zwei moved the map with a press of a button, it scanning around for about 200 meters before it came to a certain location marked with an X. His faceless masked turned to look at the leader. His eyes, hidden behind the black lenses of his mask, narrowed at his distaste for the Mandalorian armor, and the Mandalorians in general. However, he never showed that, or even his distrust for the Sith: make that any force user. Zwei waited patiently for the man before him to spout his next orders.

This was the first official mission for Nar, at the side of Spearpoint.

And frankly, he was a tad bit nervous. Only a week has passed since the heavy-drinking mandalorean guy, Ethanol... Or was it Ethan, picked him up from that sterile fish-world called Manaan. And integrated him into this rag-tag bunch of misfits brigade. It was a bit funny in retrospect - a guy who spend a third of his life hunting pirates, now worked for pirates. It was for the good cause though - helping the Republic defeat Siths. So... I guess it's all good.

The man, still wearing his flightsuit, but missing the cloak, now sported a standard-issue blaster rifle instead of his nippy pistol. He figured for something like this he would need something that could pack more punch. He hoped to be tasked with shooting people instead of carrying boxes though. That's what looting was about, wasn't it? Carrying boxes. What could be less exciting than that? But then again...

- Be careful what you wish for...

*BLAM!*

Nar chuckled to himself, and leaned to the wall, when the thermal detonator exploded inside of the mercenary barricade they had ran into. Not a single worry crossed his face, as the blaster bolts were flying and riddling the wall he hid behind with molten craters. He was smiling even. For some reason, he always found being in a firefight... fun. It was almost like he believed that he can't really die. But still was smart enough to take cover.

This skirmish was pretty much over after the explosion though. The mandalorean and some other guy just jumped in, taking away all the fun. Sighing out, Nar followed, his steps letting out annoying clanking sounds against the metallic floor. Smell of burned meat and charred plastic invaded his nostrils. Yep, they were pretty much done here.

- Nice job, sir. - he commended the leader, whether or not he needed such words of approval, and followed the order to check for any survivors among the bodies. It was a rule anywhere, actually: "Only dead don't shoot in the back." Nar could hardly call himself a veteran soldier - he was mostly a pilot, after all. But he had basic training! That should be enough to deal with pirates, right?

His 'checking for survivors' was basically walking to each corpse, and shooting a bolt through the head, which usually ended up with burned brains splattered on the floor. He whistled a cheery song as he finished off both the dead and the living, taking time to check the dead's pockets. That's what looting meant, right? He did it in a video game ones. There were some decent findings - some ammo, an amulet, a bunch of credits, a pazaak card, a picture with a seductive twi'lek? Oooh, I'll be keeping that.

Done with rummaging through corpses, Nar joined the rest in their discussion as to where they should go. Unlike the rest, he didn't really feel lost on this spaceship. Having served on a republic carrier ship, he knew his way around most generic vessels, and while this Sith Dreadnaught was, indeed, ancient... the principles of ship construction did not change much throughout the centuries. And considering the elevator...

- Republic ships always have stairways to both sides of the elevator, in case the latter would break or malfunction during a heavy firefight. Doubt people 200 years ago didn't realize that either... - he shrugged, offering a piece of helpful information, but nothing beyond that.

He was not the one to decide what to do after all... Idly, Nar's gaze drifted from Ethan towards this other guy in a weird outfit and a whole bunch of cool, custom-made gadgets. What was his name again? 'Two'? Oh yea, that's right, Zwei.

- Cool mask. Where can I get one of those?

Zett had been in the back of the group when the fire fight began; they where all on an old Sith Dreadnaught and where supposed to be in then right back out. But someone forgot that there where two other groups already bickering for the goods. When they got there Zett had be selected for the second team, at first he was a little left out, the first group was getting all the fun, but not anymore. Zett was now running to the front of the group just before the door where Ethan; his new boss, was now throuwing thermal dets into the group that had been holding out. Zett had taken out at least three of the men behind the barricade before the boom. Zett just had to watch the explostion before it died down and went in.

“Alright gents, finish up, make sure no one is still breathin'. And then someone tell me what direction we're goin' again.” Zett smiled, he was actually happy this group was so friendly, at least he thought that was the word for it. Zwei took that point and told Ethan where they where and where they had to go. Zett was also watching Nar rummage through the bodies, both dead an really dead now.

On the subject of the turbo lifts, Zett said sure not to be out of turn, I could see if i could get to the power rooms for them, maybe i could jumpstart one of them, it would requier going up through on of the shafts, but almost any of us can do that. Zett said as he tapped his own Jet pack sitting on his back neatly, almost every member had one, granted there where exeptions, so he had to change that, all the command members had them, and like himself some of the non command.

Zett used his finger to trace out the turbo lift shaft he would take to get to the power room, It's only a little out of the way, and if there isn't any power left over i still might be able to provide something transfer it from somewhere else.

Zett had a copy of the map on his own H.U.D. so he wouldn't get lost, Zett waited for his orders, he knew he would likely be doing any tech stuff for the group sense he had joined, he had reprogramed enemy guns, flown ships and shuttels, he was slowly becoming part of the "familly" and he thought he was well trusted. That was important, because soon he would be relying on them to help him with something. His plan was falling into place, but now wasnt the time to be thinking about his own revenge, he called himself back and looked to Ethan through his black T shaped Visor, What's your call boss man? Zett knew several ideas had been tossed out, but all where good. Some where faster then his, his had less likelyness to run into other enemies along the way, still others where onehundred percent full proof, Zett would have to wait for the answer.

Ethan watched the map that Zwei produced a blue hologram of the surrounding area in the dreadnaught. It was a fairly simple layout for a ship this large. Of what Ethan had seen of Zwei so far, he was a quiet man, kept to himself. Ethan wanted to get to know him and the people he was working with more, but Zwei didn't give him that chance. All Ethan knew of him was that he was a good fighter.

Nar spoke up with an idea, that there was bound to be a set of stair close by. That sounded like the best idea, and Ethan nodded at it as Nar spoke. The Ex-Republic Pilot was a good man, from what Ethan had seen so far. Nice and friendly, sort of the complete opposite of Zwei. Though, it was obvious the kid belonged behind the controls of the fighter rather than on the ground.

Zett spoke up, and offered to go see if he could jump-start a turbolift, fly down the shaft with his jump-pack. A few of the Spearpoint guys were carrying them around, for small maneuvers or jumps. Ethan didn't have one, his beskar'garm was a bit heavy for a simple jump-pack. While Zett had a good idea, Ethan didn't want to send one guy to go jump-start a turbolift that could potentially speed off without him.

“We'll try for the stairs. It's the safest bet.”

The turbolift could shut off on them at any time, and then they'd all be stuck inside. Or it could fall all the way down the shaft, sending everyone to an early grave. Of course, with the stairs there could be an ambush waiting for them at the bottom. If the mercs were smart, that'd be their next move. At least, that was what Ethan would do. Mercenaries they could deal with, a falling lift was entirely different though.

Ethan pointed at he blue hologram Zwei still had up, next the turbolift shafts. It looked like there may be a stairwell there, but he couldn't tell. Not for certain. Either his eye sight was getting bad, or the map was too small to read in detail. Maybe a little bit of both.

“There, that looks like a stairwell, right? We'll go there. Stay close with that map.”

Ethan wanted to have Zwei close because of the map, and because he didn't quite trust the man yet. He wasn't one of Ethan's, one from Spearpoint. He was something of a liaison. Ethan wanted to keep an eye on the man, make sure was wasn't doing anything weird or suspicious.

“Nar, take point. You know your way around a ship alright. Zett, stick close to him."

Zwei nodded after Ethan spoke about taking the stairs. He already knew that it was going to be dangerous as hell. More than likely, there as a nice ambush set up, or being set up, for them as they spoke. It was the easiest, yes, but was it the best choice for their plan? probably not. Oh well; as always, he would just fallow orders.

Zwei nodded once again as Ethan gave his orders. He waited for the two others with them, Nar and Zett, take off ahead, then got into step right behind Ethan, taking up rear security, if someone decided to pop off behind them, and able to throw support fire forward.

With deft hands, Zwei grabbed his rifle off his back, popped out the magazine, and threw in a fresh mag of AP ammo. Yes, there were less rounds, but as they weren't static and there was no need for an excess of fire to be sent somewhere. This was best used when dealing with armored opponents where blaster would be better.

(Yea, short. Not much for me to work with but oh well. And, I forgot to mention: Zwei doesn't converse with anyone very much, and no one knows his name, save for the highest members of spearpoint, so half a dozen people. To everyone else, he is simply The Phantom, or Phantom.)

Okay, so... this guy doesn't like to talk much.

Nar only shrugged, when he felt his attempt to spark a conversation with his silent companion has utterly failed, and he was being left ignored. Not anything the man was unfamiliar with - he got ignored a ton of times in the past, so he never took it seriously. And besides, the commander had a bigger plan in store for him... A plan that made Nar a bit uneasy.

- I... I'll take the point? Yes, sir, right away.

There was a difference between how two sentences were spoken - first one was full of uncertainty in his own ability, while the second - as monolithic as possible, obedient compliance glaring through it. The pilot may have had some skill as a gunner, but he was no professional foot soldier. Still, his military discipline made him comply.

Waving a hand to follow, Nar walked towards the stairways, and the elevator chamber. The elevator was locked shut, the rust on the doors showing that it has not been opened for centuries. Same could be said about the doors to the stairs - they have been sealed. The man sighed, and rubbed his temples.

- In case of a hull breach, all corridors and stairways have a lockdown system that prevents air leaking. The barriers have electronic locks, and manual ones, in case the power goes offline... There should be a mechanical switch somewhere here...

Nar then began looking around, in order to find it. Did not take long - it was in a sealed compartment just under the electronic lock. The sign, half-rotten from time, still could be read: "Use only in case of emergency." The glass was knocked out. And in some places, the rust was brushed off the handlebar. Somebody was using it lately.

The lever was pulled down, and it took effort to do so - the joint was still rusty. Nar leaned on it with his entire weight, before, slowly, with a loud screeching sound, the doors went open, allowing entrance into the stairwell. He sighed, and wiped sweat off his forehead, looking upwards, and picked up his rifle again.

- Well, if that wasn't enough for the entire spaceship to hear that we're coming.

“Nar, take point. You know your way around a ship alright. Zett, stick close to him." Ethan said giving Zett his orders.

Zett made checked his guns real quick then spoke, Yup boss. Then he moved off to the front with Nar who was now at the door.

- In case of a hull breach, all corridors and stairways have a lock-down system that prevents air leaking. The barriers have electronic locks, and manual ones, in case the power goes offline... There should be a mechanical switch somewhere here...

Zett nodded, he was half expecting to have to cut through the door with his torch, or hack the door. But Nar managed to finally get the switch down, surprisingly, the door actually opened. the hall went on, the hall was fairly dark, only one or two lights where still attached and active. One of them flickered off for a second as the power strained to open the door. There was a second door at the end of the hall, and Zett was the first to inspect it. The power to the door was cut from the other side, the switch was welded in place too, there was probably some set of goons on the other side who didn't want visitors.

Zett sighed, The doors locked, unless we want to waste explosives on this door I'll have to hot wire it. Zett said.

Hot wire had an advantage of being quiet, he could get the door open and no one would hear a thing on the other side. The draw back was it took time to get a door open this way. On the other side of this door though was the start of the stair case, there was no choice, this door was coming open open way or another!

Zett knelt over and pulled the panel cover off, he plucked a couple of wires, he would have likely electrocuted himself if not for his gloves. He sat there for several minutes before he finally got power to this side of the door. Zett stood, the door was on manual release, it would open due to it's motion sensors, Zett would have to use the small red button on the panel.

Zett said quietly so no one on the other side could hear him in case there was someone there, Door unlocked, power re-routed, ready for breach. Zett said getting into place on the right of the door ready to press the button. When Nar was ready for the breach, Zett would open the door.

Zett could see one barricade on the left side of the room, Zett shot off a few blasts then saw other cover shots from somewhere on the right of the room where Zett couldn't see, BLAST, IT'S A CROSS FIRE! Zett yelled over the sound of battle. Zett Grabbed one of his Razor drones from his pouch, he armed it and leaned out of the his cover tossing it at the group to the right. Once the Razor droid was armed it began to fly into the room toward the barricade. Zett ducked back behind cover narrowly escaping getting hit.

There was an explosion and Zett looked back out, the razor droid had taken only two of the troops behind the barricade out. He got two shots off; the first directed toward the barricade on the left, the other toward the right. Each shot hit the target, and Zett ducked back in.

Ethan brought up the rear of the pack, walking along behind his squad as Nar led them down the hallway and through one door. It was quite, for the most part. There was a creak from the ship here or there, but no one spoke. Except for Zett and Nar. Though, the former seemed to never shut up.

Once Zett was working on the other door, and seemed to be taking his time of it, the squad relaxed some. A few of them leaned against the walls, or crouched in groups. Ethan stood in the middle of them all, in the middle of the hallway, and watched over his group.

They were slowly becoming the army Horst wanted them to be, and they'd started bonding. Ethan could safely point out clicks and friends. The part he loved though was that there was no discrimination to them. Be it Transdoshan, Human, male or female (which there weren't many of anyways) it didn't matter. Everyone was accepted because they all shared a common goal.

As Zett whispered that the door was finally open, Ethan and the others took up positions behind it, ready to go. The young man and Nar went in first, followed by a couple others. But no sonner were they in the room then the shooting started to happen.

Ethan pushed his way through, rifle in one hand, to the front of the line looked out. Blasterfire came from one end of the room, and Ethan watched the other end as more came from that direction. Zett yelled something about a crossfire before throwing some sort of flying droid into the air. It was hard to tell, there was little light aside from the blasters. Ethan rolled his eyes under his helmet at the kid before leveling his rifle down the right side and firing to cover his squad.

“A crossfire? Really? I had no damn idea! Get back inside ya'll!”

Zett and the others were already moving inside, and Ethan get out of the doorway for them. The Mandalorian hit the same button that Zett did, and closed the doors behind them. The blasterfire on the other side died down as he did. Ethan took a quick look over of the group. Something was off.

“Alright guys, who'd we lose?”

One of the Ensigns spoke up. He was a little shaken, but still fine Ethan reckoned. Getting caught in an ambush like that was scary, of course. Ethan took the blame, he made the call to stay in the back, perhaps he should have taken Zett's spot, knowing that such an ambush was coming up.

“We lost Hawkins, Sir. He... he didn't even get a chance to know what hit 'im.”

Ethan nodded at him. A quick death was better than suffering. At least the mercenaries would not have a dying man to toy with on the other side of the door. He quickly looked over their options. Going back in that hall wasn't the best idea, but if they had to, they had to. But he hoped they wouldn't.

“Nar, is there perhaps a way to get around these guys? To flank 'em? 'Cause if not, we're using what he got left for explosives to take down their barricades and storm their positions...”

While Ethan was more than adapt at Space combat and strategy, he was more used to working alone when down on foot. This plan might have not seemed sound to a commander that had more field experience, but he judged that they could do it. The squad didn't seem too happy about it though.

There'd probably be a few more deaths on their side.

“... Unless anyone else has a better idea?”

Nar felt more unsure about this by the moment.

That loud noise he made would have surely alerted any enemies in the vicinity that they were coming. That much was obvious even to him. But as the rest went through the doorway, he just followed with them. After all, everyone else would know better, wouldn't they? Now, Zett would only need to unlock that door, and then...

Crap...

The pilot was too far away from the doorway, the rest busy occupying the small hall, so he could only hear frenetic fire the barricaded troopers unleashed upon those few, who dared to try leaving the safety of the stairwell. One of them was Hawkings - a rather young, but somewhat twitchy guy. He just walked into that one, and a well-aimed shot made quick work of him. Oh well...

As the rest of the group retreated with haste, and the doors closed, to prevent any stray bolts and grenades from flying in, Nar found himself in an awkward position once again. He was asked a question, and now the rest of the guys were staring at him. Waiting for him to give an order, or a direction. So much attention made Nar shrink a bit, eyes shifting to the left, and the right. Hell, I just know about ships in general, it's not like I am a radar or anything! - he protested inside, but on the outside it didn't show - people were waiting for an answer.

- Well, I...uhh... - he said and coughed, trying to gather his thoughts together, and took a second to recollect and regain a relatively normal and serious expression. - The ship looks large, so there should be more stairwells around. I doubt they could cover every single one like this... Maybe if we find an evacuation schematic, we would know for certain where those are... - he said, thinking a bit on what else might be helpful for this mission. Evacuation schematics were simple maps of the ship's decks, that showed where to run in case of fire, or a hull breach. Such were usually glued on the walls here and there, but the pilot didn't recall seeing any here.

- Or we could use the elevator shaft. The elevators themselves are probably broken, but each shaft also has a maintenance ladder within. If we climb quietly, we could get to the story above the blockade without being noticed...

Zett waited for those few that had been dumb enough to enter the enemy room to re-enter the hall with Eathan's orders. Zett then quickly shut and re-locked the blast doors. Zett pulled back away from the door once he was sure it was defiantly locked. He then reached into the control panel and removed a couple of power cables slowing any hackers that may have been on the other side of the door, down.

Zett regrouped with the main group glancing at the door real quick before turning full attention to the group.

“Nar, is there perhaps a way to get around these guys? To flank 'em? 'Cause if not, we're using what he got left for explosives to take down their barricades and storm their positions..... Unless anyone else has a better idea?”. Zett stood thinking about the situation, Nar answered while Zett was thinking, The ship looks large, so there should be more stairwells around. I doubt they could cover every single one like this... Maybe if we find an evacuation schematic, we would know for certain where those are... Or we could use the elevator shaft. The elevators themselves are probably broken, but each shaft also has a maintenance ladder within. If we climb quietly, we could get to the story above the blockade without being noticed...

Zett nodded, We might need those explosives after this bout, and the elevators will have less casualties. Zett pointed out, he had already been told he wasn't going to repair any of the elevators, so he didn't even bring that part up, but a latter would take time too, if someone caught onto them they could be flushed out real quick. We should take more then one elevator shaft that way if they get through that door they wont be able to find us as fast. And perhaps meet up in hall way 366, that should be a safe area. No sooner then Zett finished speaking a loud hissing could be heard from behind the locked blast doors. Zett thought for a second, Sith spit, i hope that's not what i think it is. he said before moving over to a computer panel and attempting to get it on-line with no avail.

I think that's a cutter, their cutting through the door! Zett said, They probably brought it to get through old nonworking doors, looks like it's coming in handy for 'em huh? Zett said more to himself than to anyone else. Zett walked up to the door and listened to the noise some more before confirming it was indeed a cutting torch. He sighed before moving back to the door control which now had wires hanging out of it, It'll take them some time to get through but i might as well try to buy us some more. He said kneeling back down and began disconnecting and reconnecting certain wires, eventually getting a second door to shut.

Zwei went to go through the doorway, but stopped with the battery of fire coming through the doorway. Rather than force the people ahead of him through, he engaged his sound dampening stealth field generator, and, at his first opportune time, went through. No one would have seen him as he did so. Almost as soon as he was through, the doors behind him closed. A blasterbolt grazed his side, but was deflected by his armorwieve long jacket he was wearing, and his generator didn't fail, which was good.
