Does anyone have any idea as to what calendar system we would be using at this point in time? I mean, obviously we are in the year 3602 BBY in relation to the films etc. but it would naturally be impossible to refer to the year as such IC, thanks to the fact that the Battle of Yavin has not happened yet... Consequently, I feel we should have some sort of system we can use to refer to the date IC. I personally would suggest 358 ABM, referring to the Battle of Malachor V (the last battle of the Mandalorian Wars) or 354 ABR(P), referring to the Battle of Rakata Prime (the last battle of the Jedi Civil War). I know that Yavin was the first major battle of the Galactic Civil War, but I feel that the last battles of the Mandalorian and Jedi Civil Wars were more significant - as well as being easier to find information on. I'm sorry if that was a little confusing, but I'm rather tired, and am having trouble concentrating... I think I shall go to bed now ;D "During this period, the Galactic Senate adopted its signing as a new dating standard, with years preceding the treaty being termed "BTC," or "Before the Treaty of Coruscant," and years after being called "ATC," or "After the Treaty of Coruscant"." -Wookiepedia, The Cold warWell ATC & BTC are ambiguously cannon however, in this timeline the Battle and Treaty of Coruscant didn't occur soo I dunno....

Right, so...In the civilian bio it states: "- If a Civilian has to enter combat against another Civ, they are equals. If a Civilian fights a jedi / military / sith / ect however, they are going to lose miserably. Civs are normal people, not trained / experienced combatants."
What if we want to make an ex-military character who had commited many crimes in the past, but now wants to live a more settled down life with his family on Coruscant, getting a job in a band, but then gets blackmailed into giving all of the funds to the Exchange and having to work as an exchange interogator ( A very skilled one ) and bodyguard?
He's also a schizophreniac with a sadistic secondary personality, but that part is less important. ANYWAY, I was wondering whether they would be a Civilian, or if I should try putting such a character in the Fringers. Because he would appear to have a normal life and be a civilian to all his fans and anyone who watched from a distance, and the exchange thing is more like a side job thing.
And yeah, he would also be an ex-pit fighter, which would make him a very good unarmed specialist. XP

Only to aggravate and test him. Tho no force ghost allowed, would like to use the voice. It would be his last connection to what he would consider happier times.

I don't see a problem with it. My Jedi still hears voices of her deceased master from time to time, and once, even saw him in a vision (he helped her create her new lightsaber/pass the Trials).
As long as it's not a full-fledged Force ghost...you should be okay.

Some of the mods have deemed it necessary to add a password to their templates in order to ensure that applicants have read and understand the character creation guidelines set forth. Often times, people will post up a character and it's obvious that they don't know the rules, guidelines. It's a means to save time for the mods, as they simply have to ask the applicant to read the guidelines, which will in turn lead the applicant to fixing problems on their own rather than a mod having to point each one out.

Is this power allowed?
Transfer essence, or transfer life, was a radical dark side Force power used to transfer a person's consciousness into another body, or in some cases an inanimate object. Ancient Sith Lords and other powerful darksiders used this technique to cheat death again and again, haunting their tombs and possessing those who stumbled across their sarcophagi in order to continue their reign of terror. In more recent eras, masters of this Sithspawned art have used advanced cloning technology to assure their immortality.
The power enabled the wielder's spirit to survive the death of their organic body by usurping control of a suitable receptacle. If the invading consciousness was powerful enough, it could override and expel the mind of the target body. However, the practitioner's own body disintegrated in the attempt (much like a Jedi Master becoming one with the Force). If the target resisted the possession attempt, or if the user failed in their attempt to bond with the object, their disembodied spirit, with nowhere else to go, was consigned to Chaos.[1] Given the power's inherent difficulty, its unpredictable nature, and the unspeakable consequences of failure, most would-be practitioners in the modern era chose to have their bodies cloned by trained technicians and kept in a hidden safehouse, unconscious in stasis tanks until they were needed. The clones, lacking life experiences or a sense of self, were each little more than a blank slate, upon which the original could imprint their consciousness with ease.
(never mind worked it out in the C-Box) was just wondering

swrponline2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=jedijedi&action=display&thread=1743Activity/rank listing for all the active Jedi. And whilst there are positions open on there, in the pending section we have a number of people developing enough to fill the final seats and then three people who are currently holding back and waiting for a position to open. So whilst it isn't 'full' it will be very very soon. I hope that answers your question and that you'll still want to make a character . ~Alpha

Are Terentateks still around, and allowed to be used (or faced)? I'd like to use one in the background of my new Jedi.

The answer is yes. I have used one in my bio but they aren't something that you can have as a pet mind you. Just remember that they are quite rare.

Reading thought some other members bios/applications I noticed that we sometimes will get people who do not have much of a writing experience, and have hard times getting through the acceptance period. I think these people are misguided as this site is advertised as welcomes all levels, but its seems in the application alone you expect intermediate to advanced or no game. Perhaps the advertised level should be changed?

I can see why would say this, but let me just quickly explain something.
Our application doesn't require intermediate to advanced writing experience. We have applications from people who don't even have English as their first language and they get through just fine. Our applications emphasize content, not necessarily the manner in which it is written. If you look at almost any app, the problem lies in the realm of content and realism. People not knowing about a certain force power or walking into the Jedi temple and killing everyone there. So even if someone is a novice RPer/writer, as long as they have the proper content, then they shouldn't have much trouble.
Many of us started here as average writers and upped our ability through writing here alongside what may be considered intermediate/advanced writers. It happens all the time. We look for a diverse community here, not just 'experienced' writers. Every writer has to start somewhere.

What Jace said is very, very true. For no reason at all, I am compelled to include an example.
For instance, when reviewing a bio, I certainly emphasize content. Whether someone says...
luke runned into th etemple and killed all the jJedi they diied horible deths wit there throtes riped uot and Lukebecame supeme Sith
Or they say...
Luke ran with quick steps into the temple, his blade flying this way and that way like a feral beast, dividing torsos and limbs. With claws of the force, he ripped out the throats of the insolent imbeciles, causing them to die in the most horrible of agony. It was not one day before his twenty-fifth birthday, and he was ruler of the Sith.
... it's still a no-go. X) So, just like Jace said, we emphasize content vs writing ability. However, it is important to note that those who are good writers often understand what makes a character a good character, and generally have an easier time with the approval process.
I do think it's important to note something else, though --
While we accept all ability levels, we also challenge all ability levels. As a site, we don't just want to host RPing -- we want to help make the RPers themselves better, and to help make their characters richer. To me, the bio process is less about getting approved, and more about discovering new things about one's writing ability, and challenging oneself. I know I'm a better writer now, than I was when I first came, and I attribute that in-part to the high standards of SWU.
However, I do understand your concern, and thanks much PLUR for sayin' somfin'. ;D We can't improve if we don't know what problems to solve, eh? Keep it comin'.
