Okay! So we have a mission;
Mission Name: Cold Space Planet: Space Major NPC Characters: N/A Number of Participants: 4-5 Participants:
- Xierra Zalq
- Tem Farelle
- Sish Balkk
- Moonfire Esense
Mission Requirements: Jedi/Republic/ Blades Mission Briefing:
A Republic research station in deep space off the Hydian Way has gone dark. No comms are answered, and life support systems appear to be at a minimum. An investigation has been formed with a Jedi in charge. Scanners show signs of life within, yet no movement near any window can be seen. The team is to board the station and learn what happened. Details are sketchy at best, the team only aware of two things: First that the station should house some twenty thousand Republic workers and researchers. And that their purpose was to study the Tarisian rakghoul phenomenon while researching a large-scale cure for the disease…

Seeing as there are a decent bunch of us perhaps an interesting way to handle our numbers would be to split us up: say 1 person was sent ahead or was closer to the station so arrived first, and the remaining 3 arrive together.
I leave it up to you guys as to whether that 1 person finds out anything more than what we all know when they arrive, whether they are in trouble, or whether they are just waiting by the landing bay. For my own part I am inclined to have them just waiting at the landing bay, no need to add extra drama but still gives a somewhat different beginning to the plot than just we all arrive in a shuttle, and of course they can learn a bit more without being in danger.
There you go my thoughts so far.

Just saying, totes will be stalking this *_*
And as a little note, if it helps ya'll with theme/setting/etc the mission is heavily (and prolly obviously) inspired by the game Dead Space. However this was just my little idea as we drafted the Horror on Taris mission list. If ya'll wanna run it differently that's entirely your prerogative :3

DEAD SPACE *GIGAFLAILS* *calms self* Ok, so here's my thought about what Thadd said is this, I'm game for a person (I offer Tem as a sacrifice option >.> ) but I feel that they should have been their when the break out first occurred. I also think it would be cool if they had only spotty info on what's happened.

Also, might drag along Tem's Paddy, Kalan D'ravk too, that is if Juzt is up for it, but his/the groups call.

I am down with Tem being there when the breakout happened, perhaps we can have his heroics to thank for clearing a bay for the shuttle to dock? Or some such thing. As for another padawan I am all for it, more the merrier, but will follow the gang's lead. Thadd

Just like to point out that I have no idea anything about Dead Space. So I'm kind of flying blind here on that front. But I'm flexible if you guys are gonna go that way. Anyway, what is the purpose of this thread? Are our Jedi gonna go in to find signs of living researchers and get attacked by rakghouls or something instead? If I'm reading between the lines properly? And I'm game for Tem/his padawan being the first wave, and the rest of us coming in later. Not much else to say right now. EDIT: We are after the KOTOR games, right? And that stuff did happen? Because it's been brought to my attention (plus from reading through the Wookiee page) that there's already been a cure for the disease... so I'm wondering why there were researchers trying to find something that's already been discovered (by Revan, I believe)? Just trying to understand what's going on here.

>_> I believe the comparison to Dead Space is to convey that this mission takes place during a Survival Horror scenario. Come on, the should-be-bustling-but-isn't space station with bad stuff inside is a pretty common trope. Your goal is right there in the mission description. Find out what happened. How your Jedi accomplish this is up to you. Yes, Reven found a vial of the cure on a dead Sith like, 350 years ago. The mission description does not dispute that, stating that they're working on a large scale cure. Do keep in mind that viruses evolve over time. Perhaps the Republic was trying to come up with something easier to administer / more effective / cheaper to mass produce? Pick any of the above. ^-^

Right on Neo (God that sounds like I from a Blaxploitation film... anyway moving swiftly on), the use of any reference to other media can be taken to be just a convenient way to describe a claustrophobic horror scenario really is how I am reading it. So with that in mind what do you all think of what Charlie and I were discussing, about having Tem be there earlier? Yays or nays? And any other thoughts? Thadd

(Suppose I'll just go with something I know then, like 28 Days Later).
Anyway, I already mentioned that I'm fine with Tem (and padawan) arriving first and the rest of us coming in later.
Also, the mission briefing is rather vague, so my question about the rakghouls was merely me asking if they would be involved in whatever the Jedi are investigating at this research station. Since there is no mention on whether or not that is what has actually happened. But I guess that is just something we, the participants, will be deciding. Since the vagueness does allow for a bit of creative interpretation.
Which begs the question... Once everyone is there and joining up with Tem/padawan, what's the plan? And what exactly will Tem have found? The Rakghouls? Dead researchers? Nothing at all?
And should we come up with a reason as to why 4-5 Jedi were sent to investigate an out of the way research station that failed to check in?

Happy to have you join us Juzt! My Padawan Moonfire will be quite happy she isn't the only kid tagging around with the big scary horror survivally stuff!
And I think, Mara that makes perfect sense as is. Perhaps the station went dark, our little band of Jedi and Co. were at a nearby port of some sort and decided to respond to the Republic call to check things out.
I like the idea of Tem and Kalan checking it out first, gives us an excellent opportunity to build tension.
And for the record, I haven't played Dead Space either. I looked up some youtube videos and it seems rather like the old school resident evil games. Lots of monsters and creepy things going bump in the night. I love it.

Oh another thing worth mentioning I think it is worthwhile to have the whole "No posts for 2 days in the thread mean your turn is skipped" rule thingy. Keeps a nice pace to our thread, and of course if that does happen to you then you can pop back in wherever seems appropriate. Thadd

Well, I was thinking that Tem and Kalan could have been in a few different situations leading to them being there first. Idea one: Tem and Kalan were close, thus get there first. Two: They are sent to investigate first, and when they don't respond, more Jedi are dispatched. Three: Tem and Kalan were sent to the facility before it goes dark, so they were present when things went sideways. My vote is on idea three, then 2, and finally one, though I am up for whatever the group wants. Also, no matter the idea we go with, I like to say that Tem, no matter the situation, doesn't quite know what the whole situation is, despite being there first, just some auxiliary knowledge about the facility itself.

I love the idea of Tem and Kalan being there when things go sideways, though I'd love it especially if they had as much of an understanding of what was going on as everyone else. I think the feeling of having witnessed something horrible happening and not even being able to understand or process it could be really fun to highlight. Though ultimately, however you want to play that out is fine with me :3
I'm infinitely flexible.
I also second the 2 day rule, and I'd love the add a clause for if your turn is skipped then you can jump back in whereever the others are. Just to keep this thread from going on for months and months @_@
