Okay, so... maybe I'm just entirely confused or missed a detail in someone's post...

But can someone help me with the layout/structure of this fort at all?

Because it seems what I'm imagining is not what everyone has been describing. And I just want to be on the same page, going forward.

Oh jeez I thought someone would get to this. I've been slammed at work and barely on SWU these past few days. Sometimes the ball gets dropped.



It's a Tarisan structure like you see in every Taris picture ever. Y'know, one of these:



At the base of one of those is where they all entered. They went into the entry bay area for safety, turns out it's a storage place thing and thus unused and thus not filled with rakghouls. There's a door that leads to the rest of the superstructure. They just went through that door, and Jess collapsed part of the hall that lead to said bay. At the very, very, very top of one of those is the shuttle Tessoin brought in and (likely) some 'pub issued ones that pubs can take if they so wish. In between the base where they're at, and the shuttle at the very top is a whole mess of great stuff the staff has planned and can't wait to throw at you all.

It's also your post, but I'm guessing you were delayed cause no one helped you here yet. So yeah, there ya go. Please post so we can keep this rolling

Ahh, so it's more of a skyscraper than a literal fort, then. Because when I read fort, I was thinking fort. You know, open air... with space and buildings surrounded by a stone wall or two for defense. That's what I've been imagining.




[PS: I don't exactly spend my time looking at random Taris pictures, so, yeah. And even if I did... I wouldn't have thought of this kind of structure anyway, since it's not a fort. FYI.]

Actually, a fort/fortress is any building the military deems for military purposes. FYI.

Star Wars is full of floating forts, the Jedi Temple is a fort, Fort Anaxes is a converted mountain on an asteroid, the Sith Temple is a fort, and in our day and age, The Alamo was crafted into a fort, forts were made from cities, churches, etc.

So, this skyscraper was garrisoned by military forces, to hold supplies. It's a fort and Tessoin killed everyone in it for their purposes.

However, my point was that when I personally first think of a fort, I don't automatically think of a skyscraper or other building but of the more typical kind that's low to the ground and surrounded by walls. Something that was originally intended for a fort, not something else that was re-purposed as one later.

Which is why I just wanted confirmation on what we were actually dealing with here since I seemed to be on the wrong page by thinking more typically. And I already got an explanation from Dutch. So the matter was already dealt with.

I didn't find Dutch's tone condescending at all. I also asked him for clarification on the point, since I too think of a wall with open space behind it when I hear the word "fort." While none of my characters are involved in TPT, I'm an avid reader. So glad to see these threads keep moving!
