BOR'KAN Concept • An aquatic world and home of the Prell, Bor'kan surface is almost entirely covered with the water. However, like many of it's sister ocean worlds, it has several fabricated spaceports where offworlders can stay and collect cargo, and a singular city where delegates, diplomats, and other such people can stay in comfort. Their technology and buildings tend to be elegant in appearance, possessing rounded, smooth edges and curvatures. Location • Sector co-ordinates M8, on the Perlemian Trade Route between Vurdon Ka and Chazwa On the surface of Bor'kan there are few natural landmarks. Covered entirely by one gigantic ocean, the only land masses are artificial ones built by the inhabitants of the planet, the Prell. Many of these are docking platforms used to transport the numerous and varied pieces of machinery produced by the Prell for the Republic. The only exception is Shan'al, the only city that exists above the water and used exclusively for visitors to the planet for either diplomatic functions or simple sightseeing. Under the waves, however, there are many structures that the Prell reside in, ranging from factories to population centers. Inhospitable for any species unable to breath underwater, these places are strictly off-limits to all but the most honoured guests of the Prellian ruling body for the sake of the privacy of their citizenship. The planet is lucky enough to be right on the Perlemian Trade Route, which makes it more than easy for the imports and exports to flow smoothly to and from the planet. As a result, the Prell have substantial monetary assets at their disposal, which they use to invest in the education and training of their younger generations to ensure the continued prosperity of their world, and the worlds of their allies. THE PRELL The native species of Bor'kan, the Prell are a race of peaceful, long-lived crustacean-like people with exceptional engineering abilities. They are well-known for making technologies that function flawlessly underwater, as well as bio-mechanical and architectural advancements. SHAN'AL Though rather large, Shan'al is the only real city that exists above the waves of Bor'kan. Constructed early on in their relationship with the Republic in a joint endeavour with both party's engineers, it has been improved upon several times over the years to keep it up to date in both technologically and in comfort. Overall, Shan'al is more akin to a city-sized hotel than a population center, where visiting diplomats, dignitaries, and others of that ilk can stay while they go about whatever business brought them to Bor'kan. NURSERY COLONIES Held as the most important structures on the planet, the nursery colonies are where the youth of the Prell go through their first hundred years, a period during which their bodies develop into functionality and their minds and emotional processing abilities mature to what other species would consider early childhood. They are arguably the most heavily defended structures on all of Bor'kan, as the Prell reproductive cycle only occurs once every decade. As such, the location of the nurseries are the most closely guarded secrets of the Prellian Governing Body and the only buildings that employ lethal automatic weaponry mounted on the exteriors. THE UNWALKED DEEPS The Unwalked Deeps are the lowest depths of the planets ocean floor. Named as such for the fact that exploration in the deeper sections of the planet always end in both total failure and/or with one hundred percent fatalities, this dismaying statistic is due to one reason: the Slaringor. Titanic whale-like creatures that live in the darkest depths of the world, Slaringor are highly territorial and aggressive beasts that attack and eat everything they come across, including other Slaringor. The only time they don't attack others of their kind is during the mating season, and even then it is commonplace for the males to kill and consume one another. It is during their mating season that the Slaringor rise higher from the depths, and so the Prell employ sonar emitters that send out a high-pitched frequency that repels the creatures from coming near Prellian structures.
