AER series/Project Familiar

Alright, it's been rumored! It's been anticipated! It's been looked forward to since PF's creation! It's.....all a lie!

Just kidding. It's time for another batch of Familiars! These things gave out much faster than I expected and I think there's only 1 that hasn't been drooled over yet (poor Phae), so I'm going to nudge forth the plot a bit and get another set released.

What I ask of you folks now is not to worry about the plot and technical issues for now. Leave that to me. I just want some restraint free, of the top of your head ideas for some new AERs and their abilities. Don't be shy! Post right here in this thread any ideas you may have and then we'll discuss which ones are the coolest and most practical to go into the newest set of AERs.

Here's some ideas so far:

• a tractor beam emitter rather like the squibs use, but more versatile

• a larger AER model with a special suit of armor allowing it to attach to the back for use as a jetpack or to the arm for use as a flamethrower (or something) and killer melee weapon (with use of the razor wings)

• active camo

• a hummingbird-sized AER with even fewer overall systems than a blank model but an above average logistics module. Kind of like a Jimminy Cricket

• TIME TRAVEL! (joking)

• an organic-looking AER with no other special abilites except that it looks almost EXACTLY like a regular bird using state-of-the-art cosmetic technology and synthetic materials.

Maybe a Mass-produced model without the personality, used for Communications?

Except that you can't mass-produce these. Secret military project remember? Even a blank model is extremely advanced and expensive.

hmmm....it kind of looses it's character in my opinion, but then, I have a bird obsession so that may be purely opinionated! Not a bad idea at all, though it's tricky to find another animal that's easy to forget it's a droid.

That and I would have to commission MA for another pic > v <

Possibly A Basalisk? The Tiny Water-running lizard?


I was thinking something small, reptilian. Then you could totally implement the Camouflage idea using maybe a Chameleon Model

hmm...yeah. Small, reptilian droids could probably pass for the real thing. Have each one be something different. Frilled lizard, snake, chameleon (definitely), maybe even a dragon.

HK vocabulators are fun-in-a-box, but I plan to take that route if I win the 'race" for the scrapped 02 droid (unless you create a few more now-defunct AERs).

Mara: too simple besides, the attachment one already has a flamethrower (sudden thought: or maybe a sort of seismic cannon generated from the heavy repulsors on it. Maybe tie it into the melee weapon to go all Sauron on all who would appose them!)

That's right, I just came up with an idea that my own AER couldn't use. Aren't I selfless? ^_^ _KILLKILL ^{Not now, we must wait for the right opening} >_> <_< You heard nothing!

I'm going for a reptile motif for this group to counteract the bird theme of the originals. Many of these ideas are incomplete/suck so I need some serious support from you guys. Keep in mind that if you inspire a great idea for this, you may very well end up owning it in the end ~ v ^.

Soooo yeah, I don't have the advantages of Jenno's assassins as far as advertisement goes, so what little input I can get from the PF fanclub in crucial. This is bigger than this thread can ever do justice and I can't handle it alone. Feedback people! Feedback!

Survive? These aren't alive.

On the other hand, perhaps a space based ability wouldn't be bad. Maybe one that acts like those dolphins the navy used to train to detonate mines without getting blown up. One that can keep pace and disable missiles in flight and/or some other space-related stuff.
