The DLA Plot Thread

Mini-announcement time:

First and foremost, for those of you who may not have seen the thread, our dearest Dutch has had to take an indefinite leave from the site. As such, and after Delta and myself had a talk with him concerning what should be done, it's been decided that Al will step up to the leadership role to fill Dutch's shoes. There are a few other changes that might take place in the hierarchy, but they need to be discussed further.


And, though it's been a long time coming, we're finally to the point where we're getting ready to launch out with the first round of missions, probably within the next week or two. So get ready, if you're in them.

Alright, some of the folks involved already know, but here's a general announcement so the other people are made aware:

Armored Prayer is now up.

Now, as I know otter and Meira, who are both slated to be in the mission, are both busy in RL at this point in time, I think the consensus that the rest of us in the thread have come to is that we'll just have our characters make conversation and things of the sort while we wait for them to get a chance to come in. So no rush.

Well, here we are, trying to bring this ol' thing back to life. So come on, people D< Who's in, who wants to do what? Let's get some discussion going :3 I know two members-to-be had an idea. Might be a good place to introduce the basic concept to the others here so we can get some discussion going.

And in the mean time before we get back into the missions and all that, I've been thinking it might be good to do an easy-going, conversational sorta thread around the Homestead. Give a chance to ease back into writing with the characters and all that. Any objections?

I think an in-base thread would be a great idea to get us back into the swing of things. It doesn't have to be long. We can use it to introduce new people joining up, and reacquaint with those who've been members but not around (which is pretty much all of us).

Now, for any new people, your character doesn't have to be just arriving in this thread, we can work it out that they've been around for a few days, weeks, whatever your preference.

I believe Rugs and I will be able to use this thread also as an opportunity to clear up what has happened with the DLA and ensure that we're all aware of the current, working structure of things.


Now, Mo is a hunter and a scout. She's all about remaining hidden. What with the green skin and all, she's one of the minority among the DLA in that she stands out fairly easy. So if you've got a character more into the stealthy/recon/ghosty kind of stuff, you'll likely want to get in with her.

With Dutch out of the picture, we might need someone to rise to the occasion to help with leading the more brunt force side of things. Now, depending on your character and their history with the DLA, they might not be high up in the ranks IC... but more OOC. So be aware of that. I just think it would help to have another person to help direct that area of RP action.

As far as DLA missions go, I'd encourage everyone to put forward ideas. Also, take a look at some of the ones that have been previously mentioned (I believe they're on the first page) and let us know if there are any there that are still holding your interest.

I guess I'll be idea spokesman here.

So to introduce my character under development, and at least one other Republic military member, I came up with the idea of a Republic strike force heading into Sith space to hit some high value target. But somebody spilled the beans because a Sith fleet with interdictor cruisers was waiting on their route. The strike force was beaten to a bloody pulp, but several ships escaped. One of the capital ships makes it as far as Dantooine before the Sith catch up with a great deal of malice. The order to abandon ship is given, and escape pods rain down onto the planet. The Sith do their best to blow them all up but miss a few.

Some of the Republic military survivors are captured, so a rescue mission can get put on the agenda.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaat if... The DLA shows up as the sith begin to transport their new prisoners back to a base. Hit them en-route and get the newbies out?

That's not a bad idea. I like it. Perhaps, if they still want one of them to get captured before rescue, the DLA could only be able to make it out with one of them before they're forced to flee. Or maybe they get them both and then somehow lose the other as they're trying to get away.

Just throwing ideas out.

Grizzelda'll hang around for a while longer, of course. :3 So I can start a new homestead thread pretty much any time, as Grizz is a lurker. Maybe she'll be brewing some moonshine or something? xD

Also.... What if my Sith pilot, Anessa, were to crashland in DLA territory with some of her squad? There would be, of course, tension and action and prisoners and jazz, but there's also the added element that Anessa isn't loyal to the Sith -- she's loyal to her star ship. X) Could be an interesting examination of the war...

I like the concept very much. I'll try to have my new character up by tomorrow. Might still be a little on the thin side material-wise, but as I play him he'll flesh out I think.

I have a solid 5 pages leading up from the Republic strike force under attack to being on Dantooine, ready to be encountered by the DLA members on the ground.

Figured the Cafeteria was one of the few things that would draw any and ever type. :3 Gotta love food. Doesn't really matter whether other chars or Grizz initiate the actual conversation, so as long as you can get your char into the cafeteria, dun hesitate to post. ^^

I'm sorry guys, but my character work has stalled. That possible plot avenue with my character in it that I talked to Rugs about will have to have my character cut out of it for now.
