Hey there everyone, first of all a very happy May Fourth to you all. If you didn't watch Star Wars today, daddy Dutch is most disappointed :c

So besides celebrating Star Wars and its wonders, I'm also here to announce that once again Moonfire has gotta kick back and join the vets. The bliss of married life (and life in general really. And her cat) have simply gobbled up all of our Moonfire's time and energy. As always we wish her well in retirement and life.

But dun be sad, she'll still pop in to visit and post when able.

As I'm sure some of you have noticed, my buddy Dire Wolf has been a pretty busy lately. Between his work and his new lady our valiant and loyal tech moderator has chosen to take the purple. Now a dangerous DOUBLE VETERAN Dire Wolf is quite the formidable force

If you happen to see the rascal pop in, be sure to thank him for both his services

With this, Fromikeable has been bumped from tech mod in training to the full shebang! If you have a tech application that needs a review or accepting, feel free to PM the friendly fro for some help!

Ya'll see how easy it is to be considered for staff? It's as simple of doing reviews (never hurts to ask staffers for assistance in learning the ropes of this), being active on the site and involved in the SWU story!

The Guide to Forbidden Aspects

In this update, the list itself isn’t changed outside the addition of the Basilisk War Droids to the restricted list. Given they already were upon unveiling.

The big addition, is that of the Story Character Clause. Ever wanted a character who could use Shatterpoint or Force Horror? The check the link above to see what the SCC is and how you can attain one.

The Jedi Section

With the updated application, the former Jedi Section Notes were outdated and deactivated. Well now they’re back, fully up to the current site standard and ready for you when it’s time to make a Jedi!

Accompanying the notes, is the Jedi and SWU page. In the same spirit as the Mandalorians and SWU page, it is a guide specifically for how the Jedi Order fits into the SWU plot. All those pesky little SWU-centric know-hows are all laid out for members, along with a timeline on the Order’s history leading up to our current plotline.

A similar update for the Sith will be incoming soon

The Holonet News Network

The News Group has been dormant too long, for such a potential filled area. Today marks the first step into reviving the group, as well as the HNN in general. New threads highlighting the news teams of the different networks, as well as a general knowledge and recruitment thread have been posted.

The goal here is to give members a mostly member run (but supervised) section where NPC’s created by you report on the happenings of our era in a galaxy far, far away. Regular reports, interviews, and other insightful things will be coming from here soon we hope

What’s that? You noticed DreadPirateMike’s fancy new green name? That’s right, join me in welcoming him into the ranks of the moderators! As stated before, his main goal will be to run and moderate the HNN board. Along with the usual character approval all mods are responsible for, DreadPirateMike will be a great addition to the staff

While we’re here, also welcome back Silas to the moderators! A member favorite and generally friendly/helpful guy, you can thank him for the shiny new Twitter and Youtube links and affiliate/advertising board clean up. As a mod, Silas will be mostly in charge of keeping said Twitter updated, helping admins with the site’s coding, and moderating the affiliation/advertising sections of SWU. Yes, he too can be pulled for application reviews

All current Moderator spots have been filled, but that doesn’t mean you can’t become staff someday! Each mod has spent a length of time as a member of the Next Generation Team (NGT), helping the staff with reviews and story events. There are unlimited spots to join the NGT, so if you’re interested in aiding the site please feel free to PM any staff member showing your interest. Preferably only members who have had at least one character accepted, and have a solid grasp on our operations/story.

Once an NGT, so long as you continue as a productive and friendly member once a spot opens for moderator you will be among the candidates chosen to be made a mod.

With the story event, The Horror on Taris, comes the dawn of a new year on SWU! Welcome 3599 BBY to SWU everyone!



You may bump your character’s ages up a year! With moderator approval first of course. If you want to do this, simply contact a mod and they’ll walk you through the simple process.

Also with the plot advancing, comes the full commitment of the Jedi Order to aid the Republic! The Jedi Blades are now fully sanctioned, and represent the Jedi Knights who directly work for the Order on the warfront. Better watch out baddies

Hey everyone, got a small announcement for ya'll. Dun worry, it's nowhere near the huge announcement dump I took before.

So first and foremost, we would like to introduce the Contested! board tag you see here on Taris now: swrponline2.proboards.com/board/176/outer-rim

With the scale of the war rapidly escalating, battles are no longer being decided by a single climactic moment. Some worlds take much, much longer to secure under one government. Whenever you see a world's board tagged as Contested!, this means that no faction is controlling nor benefiting from it. Battlefields will dot the world, but there are still safe havens for any faction that has a stake on said world. Want to write a thread that takes place during an epic battle as a back-drop? Or just in the mood to start an open battle thread, for epic ass-kickery? Now anyone has that option, members and staff alike can kick off a battle sequence wherever they want.

Battles can be won or lost, but the war for the world is what really matters. The Contested! tag will remain on a board until the plot advances, and the aftermath settles down.

With the timeline advancing, both the Jedi and Sith Orders have finished the construction of new Temples. Some rivaling those on Korriban and Coruscant in size, the Temples on those worlds are still the respective Order's home bases.

As mentioned before in the Jedi and SWU (and soon Sith and SWU) pages, both Orders in our timeline have a collection of sizable temples in which they operate out of. Only a couple of these had their own sub-board, but now all of the main hubs for both Orders have been founded! Along with them, comes a page detailing these temples. Images included!

What's that? You noticed the mention of Dromund Kaas in them notes?

YES YOU DID

That's right! The official capital world of the Sith Empire has been unveiled! Muunilist had acted as the temporary base during the construction of Kaas City, but no longer.

Ya'll may recognize the names Dromund Kaas and Kaas City most notably from Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG, but SWU's version is not the same as TOR's. Our Kaas City is a lush and modern coastal metropolis instead of the ancient and foreboding fortress city of TOR.

This was done to both keep SWU a separate entity from TOR (as we were first ) and to give the Empire their own capital, just as the Republic/Jedi have Coruscant. IF ya'll have questions regarding Dromund Kaas, just PM any staffer for more information.

Be sure to check the wiki for general information on the worlds environment and history before our era, with the exception for Kaas City and any other lore from The Old Republic.

Super Spooky October Cleaning!

It's been quite a while since we've moved old, inactive applications to our, well, inactive section. (Never fear, nothing is ever deleted!) I'll be taking care of that over the next couple of days. Hopefully this will help you find more active characters to roleplay with!

Of special note, the Jedi High Council has a few new spots open! We'd love to see some applications for those positions in the coming weeks.

Neology has completed another of her infamous Active Character list purges. In true Neologic fashion, every section has been cleared of characters inactive. Inactive defined as those who haven't had a single in character post since the month of August. Determined per character, not by account; so if you're still active with a couple characters but not a few others, only the few will be inactivated until you feel like busting them out again.

For any questions/reactivations just send a personal message to any member of the staff and your character will be re-activated on request. Or if like, you just wanna say "Hello" or something I guess that'd be ok too. Neology loves it when she gets one of those.

With The Force Awakens coming out so very soon, I know that everyone will be eager to talk about it. I also know that some of us will not be able to go see the movie the second it comes out. So, in order to allow for discussion while maintaining the site as a whole as a spoiler free zone, we have created the TFA Discussion Board.

Located in the Out of Character section, the TFA Discussion Board is your one stop shop for all things TFA. We have made the board password protected so that those threads and posts won't show up in the recent lists that many of us habitually browse. This will keep any who have not yet seen the film free of spoilers.

If you'd like to start a thread or join in on the conversations, simply click on the board and type in "spoilers" when prompted for the password.

PLEASE BE AWARE

Once you put in the password, the site will remember and you will have open access to the TFA Discussion Board and those threads and posts will be available in the recent lists to you. So DO NOT ENTER the TFA Discussion Board until you have already seen the film or are OK with seeing spoilers.

Please keep the rest of the site clear of TFA discussions, including the Shoutbox. We want to ensure that all of our members are able to enjoy this experience. The staff will be monitoring the Shoutbox in the event that random visitors try to spam us with spoilers. We will delete Shoutbox comments as necessary.

My friends, today is a sad day for SWU.

Neology has decided her time as a green is over for now, and will take her purple shirt as of tonight. A great staffer, Neo was a model moderator in every way. If ya'll see her on the boards, be sure to thank her for years of loyal staffing. She's planning to stick around still, so that's a boon to all us Novus addicts out there. Also maybe we'll finally see her Battlemaster on the boards now

But I digress.

With this I'll once again put out there that we are actively recruiting NGT potentials! Love SWU? Have a craving to assist in staffer type duties? Want to earn a fancy colored name? Simply send any admin or mod a personal message on how to start achieving this. We're expecting a large bump from The Force Awakens, so all and any help will be appreciated.
