To my dear SWUbies:

Whoo! My first announcement ever! How about that?

WELL. It's been a couple of years since the Dark Jedi and Sith notes were updated. There was a little outdated information on the page, especially back when the Sith Order was brand new. Now that it's a couple of years old, some things have changed around the site, so the notes have been added to and expanded upon to incorporate those changes.

So, come one, come all, the old and the new, you're encouraged to read. :3

Hey there folks, little bit of an announcement for you.

Some of you will remember the last time we did this, but for those who don't, we're going to have an age progression! What does this mean? Simply put, it means we're saying that enough stuff has happened in 3601 BBY for it to now be 3600 BBY. And along with this we're going to move the ages of characters along one year.

I know it seems weird to do that to every character at once, but since we use liquid time during our RPs, we mostly just use this as an easy way to make things are up to date for background info, it's still up to you during the year when your character's birthday is, this just makes the staff's jobs far easier.

I want to take this opportunity to point out that this doesn't mean everyone gets stats increased, that's not what this is for as it is not a time jump, we've not skipped any period of time, time has simply progressed to this point. You increase your character's stats when they have been actively participating in threads and improving in certain aspects. Their approval of any stat changes will not be affected by this age progression.

There's a thread you all need to check out which lists the characters available for the progression. It also provides general information for you, so best to read it over. Check that thread out here:

As this progression goes through, I'll also be looking to update the story thread and our map. So expect further announcements and, very likely, some news stories.

A new thread has been posted and we are asking that all members who have a Jedi character that is already part of the Blades or would like to add their character to the list please go to the thread and post. Read the info in the thread carefully before posting.

Everyone, I apologize for spamming your inboxes. It appears my announcement PM went out twice and a PM to all those with active Jedi characters went out like 4 times. My internets are wonky and I was getting error screens and thought nothing was getting sent.

Anywho, sorry again! I just really really needed to make sure the info got out there I guess...

Welcome, SWU, to 3600 BBY.

That's right, we got on the age progression, all those characters listed in the age progression thread have had a year added on and we're now officially into 3600 BBY.

To go along with this I also updated our Galaxy Map, and changed image hosts so that the larger version of the map should now open properly. For the planets involved in battles and such for 3601, I've updated their descriptions and/or the faction tag to signify which faction they belong to.

Also, the plot thread will shortly be updated to include the important events that have occurred since its last update, remember that this covers the events in a general manner and doesn't dive into too many details, because otherwise the posts would be far longer.

If you need help locating the plot or map thread, there are links in the sidebar, or just ask in the shoutbox.

And finally, over the next few days we'll hopefully be throwing out some news articles about some of the recent events.

Just a small and quick announcement.

Two of our NGTs, Ghostie and Vex are returning to their status of regular members, you may have noticed their absence in the last few months, I was meant to do this soon but have been quite busy myself as of late.

I hope some of the newer members we've acquired will see this as an opportunity to join the ranks of our NGTs in order to help review applications in a period of time when the staff is quite busy.

Just a brief announcement for you all.

I’ve added a couple of little plugins to the board over the last few days, nothing big but I may as well detail them for you.

User Legend – Something we had for Proboards v4.5, it just makes folks even more familiar with the colour significance of different users, found next to the ‘Users Online’ section on the home page.

Reply Button – Something that bugged me a fair bit was that with Proboards v5, you either had to scroll to the top or bottom of the page in order to reply. This plugin adds a reply button to every single post, which I think is how it was in v4.5.

Staff Note – A tool for the staff if we ever need to edit someone’s post for any reason we can leave a note that only the user and other staff members can see.

PM Staff – Sometimes members or staff might want to PM the collective staff group. Now all you have to do when composing a PM is type ‘Staff’ into the username field and it will provide you with an option to PM all staff.

Spell Checker – For those who maybe don’t use Word or any other program with a built in spell checker, there’s now a button next to the post button that will go through and point out any words that are incorrect and suggest correct ones. It’s U.S. English based so sorry to any other Brits out there. Also, from my little testing of it the suggestions aren’t the best/most accurate, but at the very least it’s good to be able to see where you’ve spelt a word wrong.

There are some other plugins I’m toying with and a couple that the staff are rather excited about bringing in.

Also, the other day I went through our members and removed a large number of accounts with 0 posts that had not logged on since before 2013 (in case there were those who noticed a drop in our total members and got worried).

Finally, look forward to the SWUcast! We’re hoping to record it in the next couple of days, so please make sure any suggestions you have are posted up as soon as possible in this thread:

We've worked out a bit of an overhaul to our Jedi, Sith and Dark Jedi Master/Apprentice list threads and we're going to need you guys to help us get them up to date. Instructions are simple:

• If you have a Jedi and/or Sith character, post in the thread using the appropriate format for your response. Even if you're not looking for a student or master.
• If you have posted previously, please post again so we can update both the format to properly ensure that you're tagged and also so we can be sure whatever information you have is up to date.

That's all we need you guys to do and it should hopefully get those threads up to date to be a better resource for new and currently-active players.

Hello my SWUlings.

It’s been a while since I last made an announcement but don’t worry, I’ll make this one quick.

Due to real life commitments and a lack of time for the site, Swamps will be removed as a member of our Next Gen Team. He was a great help to the site and hopefully he’ll have more time for us in the future.

Following on from this we’d like to welcome Neology to the ranks of our NGT. She’s been a great contributor to the rp boards and to the sign ups since her return and we’re looking forward to her continued help. Next time you see her around the shoutbox, don’t forget to congratulate her!

Don’t forget that if you’re interested in joining our staffing team, you just have to show your commitment to the site with some consistent reviews.

So, I don't know if y'all are aware or not, but Jenno hates your guts. His hatred is such that he can't even stand to be and admin anymore. He is so full of rage that he's turned purple... literally.

I kid, of course. I mean, he might hate you. I can't speak to his feelings for all of you, so that might or might not be true. You'll have to ask him yourself.

But in all seriousness, Jenno has been and will continue to be a pivotal member of SWU. He's pretty much been around the longest and has seen our beautiful site through many incarnations. The amount of time he has put into making SWU such an amazing place is ridiculous and borderline obsessive. (You might want to see someone about that, Jenno). He's pretty much been the man in charge since I stumbled across SWU and I've learned quite a lot from him, both as a writer and an admin (like making sure you have bits of code or picture urls saved before you go deleting things all willy-nilly).

That being said, he has decided to step down from his admin position and take the purple (which doesn't sound nearly as cool as taking the black). No need to break out the tissues and have a cry, though, because he won't be leaving us. If anything, we will hopefully see more of his writing on the site now that he's allowed himself to not be in charge of everything.

Now, obviously I'm going to do a fantastic job running things so there's no need to panic. We're all going to be just fine. So take a moment to process.
