My friends, it is finally time. For the past year, the SWU staff team has worked on planning and writing a little something special. We're simply chuffed to unleash unto the boards; AFTERMATH.

An event unlike any other, AFTERMATH is the first of its kind. Massive scaled warfare with epic missions and chaotic battles, this is the SWU story event we've all been waiting for.

The sign-ups will begin now, with the threads and discussions beginning on Friday, December 18th to celebrate the arrival of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With the nature of the threads, many of them will remain open for both current and new members to jump into the fray as they wish. If anyone has any questions/comments/concerns regarding AFTERMATH, please direct them to the Q and A provided. We're very much looking forward to our members input, and can't wait to see what ya'll make of the event.

With The Force Awakens coming out so very soon, I know that everyone will be eager to talk about it. I also know that some of us will not be able to go see the movie the second it comes out. So, in order to allow for discussion while maintaining the site as a whole as a spoiler free zone, we have created the TFA Discussion Board.

Located in the Out of Character section, the TFA Discussion Board is your one stop shop for all things TFA. We have made the board password protected so that those threads and posts won't show up in the recent lists that many of us habitually browse. This will keep any who have not yet seen the film free of spoilers.

If you'd like to start a thread or join in on the conversations, simply click on the board and type in "spoilers" when prompted for the password.

PLEASE BE AWARE

Once you put in the password, the site will remember and you will have open access to the TFA Discussion Board and those threads and posts will be available in the recent lists to you. So DO NOT ENTER the TFA Discussion Board until you have already seen the film or are OK with seeing spoilers.

Please keep the rest of the site clear of TFA discussions, including the Shoutbox. We want to ensure that all of our members are able to enjoy this experience. The staff will be monitoring the Shoutbox in the event that random visitors try to spam us with spoilers. We will delete Shoutbox comments as necessary.

We hope that this accommodation will serve all of our needs as the new movie comes out. I look forward to some great conversations!

Howdy hey SWU! How you feelin' tonight, good? Can I get you anything, maybe some soda or coffee, or some tech?

Tech you say? Then I shan't delay!

Whilst some of you lucky ducks have been seeing the new movie today and yesterday (for those of you who are included in that group, know that you hold my everlasting jealousy... or, at least, my ever-lasting-until-next-weekend jealousy), I have been plinking away at our tech section. After discussion and deliberation with my fellow staff, I have drafted and implemented a brand new policy for the tech section, which can be found here:

In effect, the new policy allows SWUvians the opportunity to use general tech without having to go digging through approved apps or make their own. It boils down to a simple concept; if you just want an unspecific piece of technology for a single thread or two, then you are free to it. Those of us wanting something specific, or something with specific capabilities, will now be subject to a streamlined, simpler set of tech apps. The first of which I've redone, the starship app, can be found here:

Expect the rest of the app templates to be updated in the immediate future. For now, they still stand, however the new policy takes effect with this announcement post. Those of you currently in pending will be processed regularly; updating to the new app is not immediately required, although it is heavily encouraged. Any and all new tech apps submitted to the Technology section following this announcement will be held to the new app template(s) and policy.

As a random aside, it feels cool to make announcements. This just in! Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigssssssssss iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnn spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaceeeeeeeee!

Hey, quick announcement guys :3

We've set up a new Open Thread List (Click!) to provide one-stop place for members to keep track on what open threads are going on the forum. We're trying to keep it to current open threads, so there's only a couple there at the moment, but we hope to keep it updated and expanded moving forward.

So, take a look, keep the instructions in mind and remember to let us know when you start something so we can let people know about it

Here we are again folks, with a bit of a staff update announcement for ya'll.

Everyone, join us in congratulating lion for his promotion to moderator! He was an exemplary NGT, and will stay as the number one hombre for anyone looking to join the Next Generation Team to reach out to for advice. We are still recruiting for NGT, so feel free to contact him or another staffer if ya'll are interested

On the other side of that coin, everyone be sure to thank DreadPirateMike and Stephen for their SWU service. They have both decided to retire from staff, to drink from coconuts on the beach with supermodels for the rest of their SWU days (lucky bastards).

I'll also use this to bump AFTERMATH, the event is still running and has plenty of missions with plenty of space for everyone

Howdy hey neighbors. Just me again, hoping I could I take up a few brief moments of your time to talk to you about brand-new, state-of-the-art, underground vaults!

... well, armor, actually. It'll work great after that whole vault thing doesn't work out. Fortunately, interplanetary civilization assures all our of lovely denizens that even if a planet (or 2 or 10 or 100) gets nuked, they'll be fine. Just look at the Hutts.

Anyway, to the point. As I promised earlier (much earlier; sorry for the delay!), the tech revamps doth continue. Today, I'm proud to present the new, much easier armor classifications:

Instead of what was, admittedly, a poorly-defined numerical system like we had before, armor is now broken down into three basic categories. In addition, the armor app template itself has received a slight sprucing-up:

Just as last time with the starship application, this new template goes into affect as of the time of this post. All previously-created apps are exempt via the Grandfather Clause, but all applications seeking approval going forward (and all re-approvals of deactivated tech) will use the new application. Those applications currently in pending will be reviewed as they are, though switching to the new app would be appreciated.

Dear SWUvians,

It's been a while since we've made any staff announcements. How are you? Have you been eating well... getting enough sleep? Remember that a healthy writer is a happy writer!

But in all seriousness, I've got a bittersweet one for you all today.

As we're all well aware, finding the right balance between killin' it in RPs on SWU and making appearances in real life can be a challenge. No one knows that more than staff. The come and go is a natural part of life here on SWU, and it is time for the "go" part for our dear Dutch. The good news is that he isn't leaving us. The bad news is that he's stepping down from his admin position.

Dutch has been part of our site staff for a long time. Long enough that I can't remember him NOT being staff. In particular, he's been the boot that kicks us all into action when we get lazy. He has had a hand in every major aspect of our site's plot and had been invaluable throughout the creative process. We'll be hard pressed to fill his shoes.

BUT! We are very happy that Dutch is not leaving us. He has chosen to step down so that he can continue to be part of the site through what matters the most: his writing. So don't get to feeling depressed that you won't see him around. You might actually be seeing more of him in threads and such, so turn that frown upside down!

So next time you see him in the shoutbox, give him a virtual pat on the back and thank him for doing his part in making SWU what it is today.
