I think the 'who' it would be is probably a rival senator, in my opinion a slave holding one with many slave holding friends. If she keeps blathering on about how slavery is bad, then they will likely lose a lot of money, and that would do it.

As for motive, no to keeping her from the vote, and no to the ransom. Her one vote is hardly enough to turn the tide in a vote she's already persuaded people on, and ransom doesn't seem likely since the people hiring mercenaries to capture a senator is probably already rich. If it was for a ransom, then it would just be the villains who were doing it, and no higher power hiring them.

I think sending a message is best, but the idea being to not just send a message to her. It would be to send a message to any other like minded senators that you might go missing too if they keep it up.

I agree that it would be good just to 'send a message' by kidnapping her/making her disappear for a bit.
Though she has few allies in the Senate so far, it would help to persuade them whether they want to be outspoken about it. Since she has gained office, she has been slowly trying to work to get enough senators on her side to possibly enforce the anti-slavery and equality laws more powerfully. For the most part, though, she's sneered at or ignored. Very few have come to her aid. If she were to be kidnapped, these others may change their minds about dealing with her.


And I think another senator would work, but I'm not sure if a senator (or two or three) would work on this alone. I may make more sense for them to be influenced, say, by a corporation or noblebeing or someone back on their home planet where slavery is still practiced illegally. (It technically is illegal, but still happens far from the Republic, or close by and hidden... or just unnoticed because there are more important things to deal with).

I'm up for the there's a large backer like a baron somewhere supporting this. Though that isn't going to matter much for the details. It also helps that I recently established that Vako is pro-slavery, so he would be more likely to do this sort of thing. I'm thinking that it shouldn't be a corporation though, since that seems a little to big time for this relatively small venture. This seems like Baron _____ from _____ owns and makes a lot of money from the slave trade. He has a senator in his pocket that has been saying she is a problem. So the Baron hires these mercenaries to send the message.

I like Darvek, but I have trouble imagining that he and Vako alone can do this. Granted their skill sets are very suited for this, but Darveks a lone wolf, and Vako's a team worker. Fortunately Vako's racist tendencies don't apply so much to Weequay, so that's good. But right now it looks like we're just gonna be knocking down the door, and snatching her, then running out to a vehicle outside the window.

Well I'm just bothered a little by the part in his profile (and I'm paraphrasing here) that says 'Its not that he won't work with people, it's just his team mates usually wind up dead'.


As for a step by step.

Step 1. bad guys steal the senator

Step 2. bad guys take senator far away, and tell her that her politics are gonna get her and a lot of people dead

Step 3. Jedi come to save the day

Step 4. Bad guys vs. good guys

Step 5. Bad guys bolt, good guys walk away with the senator

Morse -- I wouldn't worry about it. Ghostie is right. No one's dying here in this thread (unless they want to ;p). I'm sure the two of you can work together; the pay should be good enough to force teamwork. Just like Grey said.


But anyway... yes, that vague outline sounds like basically what I had in mind for the chronological progression.

And also yes to the two threads thing. I think it would be the easiest and least confusing way to divide it into the Coruscant thread (kidnapping of Ina, soliciting of the Jedi to help by Ofi) and the other thread, where all the action happens. We'll need to come up with a location for this.

I suggest an independent planet or Hutt Space for our rescue thread. You shouldn't get much trouble from the authorities on either planet, and I don't think two Jedi and a Republic Senator in Sith Space is a good idea.

Hm... Now what planet? Perhaps Cathar? Nothing happens there. Maybe Nal Hutta or Nar Shaddaa? (Maybe both even?), Manaan, Kamino? It would be nice to go to a place where not much takes place RPing wise.

EDIT: I have no problem with another villain, there are three heroes after all.

I say somewhere in the outer Rim. I don't think that either of Vako or the Lone wolf would make a run to Nal Hutta, because they might as well just be selling her to a Hutt. And I'd think if anything, these two would find one of the best places to take her would be Sith Space. It'd probably keep the following party relatively small so as to not be detected by the Sith, and at the very least the villains would be among friends, rather then fellow cut throats.

I actually like the idea of this going on somewhere in Sith space.

Yes, but we can't send Jedi into Sith Space and expect them to come out alive. Two of three of our heroes are Jedi. Hutt Space sounds better to me.
