Faction Name: Spearpoint
Faction Purpose: Pirating Sith, Independent, and even rarely Republic shipments as following the guidelines of its captains for the purposes of generating wealth and ultimately aiding the Republic. Individual motivations vary from seeking amnesty to simply making a buck.
Faction Planet: Oatara
Financial wealth: Low – Initially funded by Ethan Moreill’s very large fortune and his company Hiker Vehicles, this allowed Spearpoint to get a nice start in the pirating business. Following Moreill's disappearance, however, the group's only source of income became pirating; a trade that, while definitely profitable, always leaves them slightly strapped for cash. This generally results in shady conditions, improvisation, a lack of luster, aesthetic, or polished looks, and generally a rather crude aura. Everything is maintained in working order for the most part, however; it all simply looks unrefined, in that it is.
Military assets: Low/Moderate - Spearpoint hires scum from all different parts of the galaxy. This includes (but is not limited to) mercenaries, bounty hunters, smugglers, and pirates. Everyone who is hired in is expected to know how to use a blaster and how to handle themselves in a fight. Larger than most pirate groups, Spearpoint has an ample amount of foot soldiers, but all with different skills. Most of the members of Spearpoint are Ex-Republic Military, drawn by being able to fight the Sith and protect their Republic. Still others are simply mercs and fringe seeking wealth. Either way, both are run through training and "group-building exercises" (essentially the trainers beating them with exercise until they learn to at least trust one another).
Spearpoint’s fleet consist of only a couple large ships. The fleet is designed to move fast and hit hard, and to be able to carry a good amount of cargo while doing so. Spearpoint’s fleet usually operates as one unit, not leaving a ship behind. Of course, sometimes the fleet is forced to split up, though this usually only occurs when there are multiple, lightly-armed targets that any duo of ships could take instead of the entire fleet. Ultimately, however, single-ship outtings are forbidden. Personal ships are sometimes used for covert missions, with small teams aboard. Anyone with the know-how in Spearpoint is assigned a naval job. This leads to many people in Spearpoint having dual jobs, one in space and one on the ground.
The larger ships in the fleet are colored blue with white trim as well as a black spear figure to act as a sort of Jolly Roger. The fighters are allowed to be customized according to how the pilot desires.

Faction History:
Ethan Moreill founded the group known as Spearpoint. The faction started as a simple pirate crew looking to make a shiny credit, but Mr. Moreill had no idea how popular the concept would be.
Somehow the word go around through the underworld of a pirate crew that raided the Sith, hampering their supply lines and making money while doing so. This became a popular concept, drawing people in who wanted to fight the Sith, but were unable to join the Republic Military or were discharged from it. But this also gained Spearpoint quite a few enemies in the underworld. This forced Mr. Moreill to search for a planet that was out of the way where Spearpoint could have a base of operations. And then he stumbled onto Oatara.
Mr. Moreill found Oatara to be a great place. While it could’ve been a bit closer to the Sith Border, it was close enough. A backwater planet, it had remained independent in the war mainly because it had been forgotten. Ethan used Hiker Vehicles, his company, as a front to buy a large amount of land and build a large base.
Moreill hired a private contractor to come in and build some infrastructure on one of the many islands, a large base consisting of multiple buildings and a couple of landing pads. The infrastructure did not take up the whole island, leaving room to expand but also leaving the jungle and dangerous predators around. So a large fence was built to keep the glow-wolves and anything else out.
As Spearpoint upped their attacks against the Sith, the Sith became better prepared for them and other raiders. Taking Spearpoint's ambushing tactics into account, the Sith have set up beacons all along their trade routes, letting them know when an unauthorized ship comes within a couple of light-years of their routes. When these beacons activate, it alerts the nearest Sith patrol or fleet. They have also started to send out decoys for large targets, such as weapons or top-secret items. Spearpoint has stumbled onto these decoys before, finding them filled with troops ready to fend off any boarding actions. These countermeasures have made Moreill turn to something he never thought he would need: informants. Given his financial status, it was easy to pay off certain information brokers to let him know which convoys were decoys and which were not.
Ultimately, however, Spearpoint soon began to deteriorate. One fateful day Moreill, whilst out negotiating with an information broker, simply never returned. Some claimed he left, others that he was killed, but leadership was promptly shifted to Horst Stellar. Sadly Horst's management skills failed to live up to the structure he was handed, and as weeks passed many members deserted, left in search of greener pastures, or otherwise quit. SPHQ fell into a general state of disorganization, and the member count dropped to as little as a few thousand men; only those soldiers loyal enough to the cause (basically people with true desires of vengeance against the Sith, people who didn't know where else to go for their next bundle of credits, or those who had personal allegiances) remained.
And that's when...
