So, this is a dumb question that I probably already know the answer to, but I feel the need to ask. A character can only be involved in one active RP thread at a time, correct?
That is, if I have several different RP ideas/plans with different people, I'll have to do them one at a time instead of simultaneously, yes?

Nope. You can be involved in multiple threads at once with the same character.
We know that a lot of members have busy lives, and sometimes people may disappear from RP for extended periods of time without warning. We don't want the disappearance of one of your RP patterns to bring all of your RP-ing to a grinding halt.
So you're welcome to be in multiple threads. It's generally a good idea to keep some sort of timeline in your head as to when the events of these threads happen relative to each other, and sometimes starting a new thread means you already have a certain conclusion in mind for your previous thread (which you may want to run by your RP partners). But if you have the time and can keep it all straight in your head, then go ahead.

Would a 4 in telepathy be enough for jedi mind trick?
What about the animal friend skill?

Would really depend on who the target for the mind trick is, but it could probably work on some less intelligent/more susceptible people. As for the animal friendship thing, it depends on the animal(s) and the degree to which it's used

All righty, so I have a question. Was going to PM Jenno, but I figured this would be quicker. (Same with hanging about the chatbox.)
Anyway, I was thinking of the possibility of a character who was involved in Black Sun. However, I am not sure if they are around yet in our timeline. On Wookieepedia, they were formed about 40 years prior to our timeline here at SWU, but I am not sure if that is something included in the TOR lore that we don't ascribe to. Since I don't play that game, I have no idea.
Basically I'm just wondering if it would be possible for a character to have an affiliation with Black Sun. (This wouldn't be a main character but rather just an NPC/background character in a PC's bio.)
If not, what would be an equivalent organization for me to use in Black Sun's stead?
Thank you (whomever) for your time.

Black Sun isn't around yet. The equivalent you're looking for is The Exchange. Possibly the Hutt Cartel but that's more up to you.
Hope that helped.

I figured it was more of a TOR thing, but it's good to get it clarified, since I don't know anything about the game. I think the Exchange will work well enough for what I had in mind. Thanks for the quick reply.

So I'm looking to make a civy character a pod-racer... Unfortunately though I've been unable to find any specific references to what the pods would have been like in the current time of the plot here, or when the first pod racer was made (plenty of reference to the first pod racer and its creator though, just no date).
Anyone able to help identify this, or perhaps if we can't find the info, we can come to a consensus on what the racer tech/pods were are like in this period?
Thanks for your help!

From my brief browsing through the wiki (the creator seems to be most active thousands and thousands of years prior to our date), I get the impression podracing has existed for quite some time and goes through varying stages of popularity.
Now, something to remember is that podracing is illegal in the Republic so it would take place primarily on Hutt controlled worlds, and in terms of fame that would mostly be the limits of where it would reach (since there would be no en-masse airing of the races in the larger territories).
Something to keep in mind is that swoop racing was also popular around this time and was legal in the Republic. There are probably other forms of racing as well.
I'm not sure if you want to rethink/research more aspects of that, but assuming you don't, the tech (this is not generally my area of expertise) I assume would just be not as good and most likely not as safe as it was in the films (and that itself wasn't exactly safe). So long as it doesn't out-do what was in the films it should be okay really.

Thanks for the help!
I had assumed a similar scenario with the creator and the activity of the "sport", which led to the technology question. I may draft up with some level of concept pod racer vehicle to post in the technology section for approval/debate.
But on the flip side, you've given me an awesome idea... With pod racing being so limited in popularity and reach due to being illegal, it would make sense to have the civy be a legitimate Swoop Racer, but then a discreet Pod Racer in off time... Hrmmm.
Thanks again mate.

While preparing myself to revamp my bios, I was reading over some Jedi stuff, in regards to Xierra in particular. And I was trying to figure out something.
While I know that when a child is taken to the Jedi, and they are stripped of their past, basically... memories and possessions and all that... Where would their original native culture fit in? What I mean is, would the child learn the particulars of their species after joining the Order? Like, for Xierra, I currently have it that before she was taken, she was learning about pheromones and skin pigmentation control and the 'superiority' of Falleen in the galaxy. This latter one, especially, I figure would not be something the Jedi would teach. As well, she doesn't wear the traditional shaved head with a topknot hairstyle the Falleen are known for, and instead has a more natural, more human, look to her hair.
But would the Jedi encourage her in these cultural traits--the pheromones and skin pigmentation? As well, the traditional topknot?
I looked around Wookiee a bit and such, but couldn't really find anything regarding what role a Jedi's native culture plays once they enter the Order.
I hope this makes sense, lol.

Hi, I'm new here. I have yet to create a character, and I have a few problems with the bio, and thus arise a few questions. The general direction I'm going for is either a Sith who will later leave the Order, or one who has already left and become a Gray Jedi. My initial thought was that he would be the son of a Mandalorian and a Jedi, maybe even a Mando mom and Miralukan Jedi. The Jedi would teach him the basics of using the Force, the Mando some combat. When he reaches the age of about 12, the Mando parent takes the character to a wild planet for survival training. Part of that was the task of surviving for a period of time alone. After the parent left, s/he had to answer the Mandalorian call to arms.
That's about all I got for now. So, I would appreciate some pointers as to where the loopholes or problems are in my idea, and suggestions/advice. Thank you, beforehand!

Greetings,
It has been a while since I've done any serious RP. I blame work and life.
So, in regards to jedi, how impossible is it for someone to be taken as a padawan at an older age? I had a story I thought of about a guy who was found one of those silly uncharted planets. It's probably beyond impossible, but I thought I'd ask so I can see how much of the thought I had needs to be scrapped.
Also, I was thinking of making him a new/custom race. Do I have to make a planet for the race too if I don't necessarily plan to RP there? I'm willing to do it though.

I'm afraid the Jedi don't take members over the age of 6 officially since they're considered too old to learn the basic tenants and formally join the order. Now if you want them taken in by a grey or dark Jedi, someone not part of the Order, have at it.
As well, I believe you only need to do the race, do check out the Custom elements stuff, but do be warned the Custom Elements take a very loooong time to get reviewed and approved since they're not considered a staff priority.

Ok, I'll format my story based on that then. But thank you for the quick answer!
I play WoW (sadly) and sort of wanted to make a race based on one in game. At least it's not halo right?
