"Thank you," Kvothe said with a small smile. Alindra's reaction--one of awe and surprise--wasn't something that was unexpected; no, Kvothe had believed that she would do something of the sort, and that was why he hadn't given away any of the changes beforehand. It wasn't often that people met Rilans--even more rare was the chance to see the transformation. For Alindra to be one of the very few that were shown the change intentionally, rather than to just be present for it spoke volumes on how Kvothe felt about her.
He pushed himself to his feet with an exhausted sigh and began to stretch. His weary muscles rippled as he threw his arms out to the side, going taut for a moment and then relaxing once he got the satisfying pop in his back that he was looking for.
The wings stayed out, though, extended to their full length as he looked to them. They were large, stretching nearly from one side of the room to the other. Kvothe couldn't help but smile at the sight of them. He worked to get a feel for them, moving them this and that as his mind readjusted to having another pair of limbs to deal with.
"I'd almost forgotten what this feels like," he said softly as he gently stroked one of the feathers on the left wing before folding them both behind him and looking to Alindra again. "It's been a very long time since I've done this, and even longer since I was able to successfully force the change." He chuckled softly to himself. "I'm just glad that it worked here for you.
"I suppose you might have some questions. I'll try to answer the ones people usually ask preemptively." Kvothe tapped a finger on the side of his chin, mulling where to start.
"Ah, well, does it hurt? Yes. More than I'd like for it to, certainly. Um... The way our skin changes and the color of our wings varies from individual to individual. My brother's skin becomes silver-ish in color and his wings are grey, with touches of red and black here and there, much like the red in my own wings. These are a reflection of our auras, for the most part."
He stopped then, suddenly wondering if he'd ever explained those to her. "Er... well, we can see auras around each other; we can see them around every living thing, actually. I have one, my father has one, my brother, my friends, my enemies, all have one. You have one." He smile grew a little bit. "For the most part, the auras reflect the emotions that define the person, through colors, much like my eyes."
Again he stopped, wondering what else there was to cover. Truth be told, there was so much that he could tell her that it was hard to know where to go. "And yes," he started with a laugh, remembering how she'd come close to touching one of his wings without actually touching it, "you can touch them if you want to. I'll be alright.
"Anyway, do you have any questions? I'll try to answer to the best of my ability..."Realization dawned on his face then and he grinned at her like he knew some secret that she did not. "I suppose you might be wondering why I'm doing this, right?"

"I had little doubt you could do it," Alindra said to her love. She had faith in him, something many would think odd for a Sith to have. Yet she still had it. Her faith was genuine and real, fought for rather than instilled.
She listened to him, carefully savoring every syllable. When Kvothe spoke of auras, she became even more interested. "You can see my aura... What's it like? What do you see?" Alindra wanted to know. Image was an important force for her, something she had to cling to for most of her life.
Welcomed, her fingers began to flow into the soft, near-human down that had emerged from Kvothe. Just when she thought she knew what she had to do with him, he surprised her again. Her heart wanted many things and the Rilan beauty Kvothe showed was one of them. There were many ways to make it happen, Alindra only had to do everything in her power to investigate them, If it was possible, Alindra wanted to find a way.
"You're right," Alindra said. Her fingers loved the touch of his feathers. "I'm curious as to why you're doing this." Amused with another thought, Alindra asked, "How high can you fly with these?"

"A few meters," Kvothe answered. "I can fly or glide for short distances if I need to, but these aren't really meant for sustained flight." He extended them out again, almost to their full length, before drawing them back in and folding them behind his back once more. "Perhaps at one time in our past, we could use them for more extensive flights, but for now, we're limited." He shrugged slightly. The reason for their limited ability to use their wings was beyond him; but the fact remained that, whatever it was, it was there.
But he let that train of thought leave his mind as his thoughts shifted to the question Alindra asked before that: the one of what her aura looked like. He studied her for a moment, letting his eyes take in not just her, but the area around her. It was strange really; he'd gotten so used to simply looking past the auras that swirled around people that he didn't often take much more of a cursory note of them. He'd seen Alindra's aura, of course, with as much time as he'd spent with her, but now he was really seeing it for the first time.
The aura was comprised of three colors: blue, green, and purple. They were constantly shifting as that ethereal glow shifted around her, sometimes swelling, sometimes nearly fading away, but they were always there. Kvothe smiled.
"Your aura has three colors in it, Alindra--blue, green, and purple." He held up a his right hand and brought up a finger with each color. "Were I to go with the traditional interpretations for those colors among my people, the blue would represent either sorrow or love. Green could mean any number of things, but it's usually for some form of either greed or happiness. Purple can be courage, compassion..." he paused then, and allowed himself to smile a little bit, "or love.
"These things vary from person to person, so they might mean none of those. Whatever they are, I'll leave the interpretation up to you."
That brought him up to the final thing Alindra mentioned--the one he'd intentionally saved for last. "The reason for showing you this is twofold. For one, I wanted to show you this so you can see me as I really am, but the second reason was something else, something more personal."
His right wing came forward so that he could reach out to the tip of it with his left hand. It brushed against the long primary feathers at the wing's tip and then stopped on the feather he'd mentally selected earlier. It was long and slender, and gold for much of its length with a soft red tinge near the base.
"Very few people get to see what I've shown you, Alindra. Even fewer are shown the true form intentionally. And even rarer than that is what I'm about to do." He tugged the feather free from his wing with smooth, quick motion. It hurt and he winced and drew in a sharp breath from the pain, but he'd known that was coming; the pain would fade away quickly enough, anyway.
Kvothe held up the feather before him as he started to speak again. "Our feathers hold a very deep meaning to my people." He chuckled softly to himself for a quick moment. "Even my armor has a piece to it that is fashioned to look like a feather.
"But, the ultimate purpose of me doing this was to give this to you." His hand extended, presenting the feather to her. "To give this away as a gift is to give a piece of myself away to you. It's not something that's done lightly. And, even though it's separated from me, I still have a sort of connection to it. If you ever need me, and you have that in your possession, I'll know."
He looked into her eyes as he smiled broadly at her. The gold that was there in his eyes began to shift, fading away as a mixture of green and purple slowly began to seep in. "This is my gift for you, Alindra. I hope that it can speak better than any words I could try to put together about how I feel about you."

For all his majesty, Kvothe could hardly use his wings. For some unknown reason, Alindra felt bad because of this. She wished he could summon forth his true form at will and coast through the skies, going higher and farther than anyone else would even try. And, yet, he was beautiful. Alindra looked over him, making a point to gently touch Kvothe's wings, his mane, and his skin. Every part of her was amazed by what she was seeing.
When she heard Kvothe mention the colors of her aura, she knew immediately what they meant. Blue, for her meant sorrow and love. As much as she felt for Kvothe, she still felt for herself and what she'd gone through; she still missed her meek little family and the sweet sister she still knew so little about but had come to love so much. Green with all its options, could mean greed or happiness. Alindra wanted so much, she craved feeling happy so much, she barely registered how happy being around Kvothe made her. Purple, which had courage and compassion, needed the most definition. Alindra didn't think herself full of either emotion. She could call upon them, but she usually cultivated raw passion and a little greed. It was the final option purple had, the fullness of love, that was what she accepted as the reason for it being in her aura.
But Kvothe had more in store, reasons for showing himself to Alindra. She quietly remembered that he hadn't told her his true name, since apparently it was not Kvothe Algaterra. Alindra wasn't bothered by this, since she had yet to discover her own true name, the name she felt would define and shape her fully into a Sith.
As Kvothe forced his hand to pluck out one of his exquisite feathers, Alindra felt heartbroken. For the first time in ages, she wanted to cry. It might have been a sensation of weakness, but she didn't care. Kvothe was hurting himself, so Alindra couldn't stop herself from feeling hurt too. "Stop," she whispered, pleading for Kvothe to not torment himself.
What Alindra still had to process was that Kvothe was doing this for her. It was all a gift, a revelation of his true self, regardless of what name he used. Only when she held the long gold feather did she understand. Feeling the feather's fibers between her fingers she sensed something deeper. Part of her knew, on some unconscious level, that she was holding a piece of her love. "Kvothe," she said. Her eyes looked at him with such wonder, like a doe filled with innocence. "This is you."
For a moment, Alindra held the feather as she held Kvothe in the dark only hours before. In that moment, she knew what she wanted to do, though it would take a few ribbons to make it happen. One she would take for herself, so she could keep the majestic gift she'd been given close by. The other two, she would need to return the favor. "Do you have any ribbons? Elastic bands? Anything like that?"

"Yes," Kvothe agreed softly when Alindra looked up to him, cradling the feather in her fingers, "that is me--a part of me." And it was hers now. Now, even though they might be separated by distances that either of them couldn't even really comprehend, she'd have something to remember him by. Something to remember his love--their love, their time together--by. And, in giving that feather away, he'd broken off a piece of himself. For her. Sure, it would regrow with time, but that feather was something he could never get back, could never reattach. It was hers, for now and forever.
Then Alindra asked about elastic bands or ribbons or something of the sort. Kvothe found himself wondering what for, though his mind simply came to the conclusion that it was for her feather. "Um... I'm not sure, really. I'm sure I have something somewhere--maybe in my quarters." His wings shifted slightly as he thought and then he shrugged. Turning on his heel, he made a motion for her to follow him as he folded the wings behind him once again and began to walk toward the door. "Couldn't hurt to look."
The door slid open and Kvothe shivered for a moment when he felt the touch of the the cooler air outside of the training room run against his skin. It was gone in a moment, though and he led Alindra on to the starboard side of the Masada's main deck, where his room was.
Another door opened up to allow them in. Kvothe's quarters were roomy, if not large--certainly big enough to avoid that cramped feeling that might come with staying on a ship for long periods of travel. His bed was neat, since he'd not been in it the night before, though his shirt, vest, and pants were still laying out where he'd left them the night before. There were a few other things here and there, but perhaps the thing that stood out most was the rack on the far end of the room from the door. His armor rested on it, the red a gold metal shining dully in the warm light of the room. Among the pieces of it the suit, one stood it in particular--it was a head piece and held an odd piece of metal that was shaped into a feather, of all things.
Kvothe, though, being as familiar with the scene as he was, paid little mind to it and instead went to a set of drawers and started to rummage around. Eventually, he found what he was looking for. "I'm not sure how much of it you need, but how's this?" He turned around and held up a length of dark blue cord to Alindra. "Think it's work for what you have in mind?"

Alindra looked over the dark blue cord. It was strong, but not abrasive, perfect for what she had in mind. "Give me just a minute to do this." Granting the cord a fair amount of length and space, Alindra lit her lightsaber and sliced off the bits she needed.
Once she shut her lightsaber down again, she picked up the segments she cut. None of them were very long, but they were all perfect, just what Alindra was after.
Carefully, Alindra started braiding a little bit of her hair, spinning it into a tight rope of hair. While she worked on that, she looked over at the armor Kvothe kept. "It looks impressive," Alindra said. Looking back over her shoulder, she added, "But it's nothing compared to you."
A quick glance at her braiding made her eyes jump. "That should be about right." Using one of the bits of dark blue cord, she tied off the end, knotting it better than she'd tied off anything in years. She added a second piece of cord around the other end of the braid, giving it a similar knot. Then the lightsaber came back out, slicing off the braided lock of hair.
Alindra held her gift out to Kvothe. "You gave me a piece of yourself," she said. "So, I wanted to do the same." Her eyes slipped toward the braid for a moment. "It's not as powerful or impressive as the feather you gave me, but it's still a piece of me that I can give to you."
The last piece of dark blue cord stayed in Alindra's other hand, along with the feather. Unsecured, she wasn't going to let the feather get very far away from her. It was her gift and she meant to keep it.

Kvothe watched with a growing sense of wonder as he watched Alindra cut the cord into three pieces and then begin to braid her hair. He didn't have to think very hard to put the dots together and figure out what she was doing.
"Alindra, you..." The words faded away. 'You don't have to do this,' he'd been going to say. The feather he gave her was a gift to her from the depths of his heart; he hadn't expected, nor did he need anything in return for it. But, as she braided those honey golden locks together, he knew that the same could be said for what she was doing. She was making a gift for him--a lasting expression of their love, and he knew that he would cherish it more than any other he'd ever gotten.
When she finished it, she cut the hair free with her lightsaber and held it out to him. "It's just as powerful," he said softly when he took it in his hand, feeling the strands that made up the braid between his thumb and forefinger. "I... I cannot tell you how much this means to me." He looked up to her, and when he did his eyes were a very deep purple. "Thank you. With everything that I am, I thank you."
He moved his hands up and behind his head, and started to tie the ends of the two cords together. When he was done, the cords and braid fell down to rest at the bottom of his neck as a necklace, with the braid hanging down below his collarbone and onto his chest. I'll always keep this on, he thought, beneath my clothes and against my skin.
Again he looked up to her, but something made his expression twist a bit. The process of going through the shift had taken a lot out of him, but he was starting to feel more weariness creep into his body. "Right," he muttered under his breath. "It looks like it's time I revert back to my normal self," he said to her. "Maintaining this form takes a lot of energy and I can feel it starting to take a toll on me." A weak smile grew on his lips then as he laughed softly. "At least it doesn't hurt to move back. Well, not as much, anyway. But once I've done that, there's one final thing I want to show you."

Alindra stood and watched Kvothe as he touched the fibers of her hair. She felt warm, seeing her lover realizing that she cared as much about him and was just as willing to provide a full sense of awe.
"I..." Kvothe was beside himself, barely able to speak. "I cannot tell you how much this means to me." With his newly-purple eyes he looked at Alindra and said, "Thank you. With everything that I am, I thank you."
Alindra kept watching Kvothe for a moment. She loved that he was so taken, needing to wear the fibers of her hair against his skin. It was much the same for Alindra. From the instant she realized what she could do with Kvothe's feather, she knew she wanted it close to her. The best way, in her mind, was to tie it into her hair. She could cover it if she needed to or show it off if the occasion allowed. But tying the feather in her hair, Alindra knew, on some level, she and Kvothe belonged to each other.
Alindra still felt amazing. Being linked to a man who could make himself into something more, just for her, it made her feel special. Wanted, needed. Somewhere deep inside, she just wanted to tell someone how she felt, but words didn't do anything for her. She wasn't a poet, she was a Sith, cruel and horrible as plague. Except when she was with Kvothe.

Kvothe sighed and let his smile fade a bit as he began to draw on the Mythos. Despite the pain and energy it took to reach his current state, it had been nice to do it, to be able to literally spread his wings out for the first time in a very long time.
For a second time, the Force swirled around him, if less intensely than it did before. The things that came with the shift came back: the sound of bones shifting as his wings disappeared into his back once again, the grimaces from the pain, all those lovely things. But, as he said, it didn't hurt quite as much, and it was over much quicker.
He found himself leaning over his band, holding his weight up with both arms, when it was done. Gone was the wild hair and the gold-tinted skin. Gone were the wings and feathers and the angled face. Now he was Kvothe again--the Kvothe that all but a select few people in the Galaxy knew.
"Well, that's that, I suppose," he said wearily around his heavy breaths. That smile returned as he stood up straight and went about pulling his robes back up an on once again. "I'm glad that I was able to get this to work for you, Alindra. Wouldn't have been any good if this was one of the times when the transformation failed..." He waved that thought of and laughed as he eased himself down to sit with his back resting on the foot of his bed.
"As I said, there's one more thing I want to show you," he went on, motioning for her to sit on the floor directly in front of him. And I'm not sure if I should be attempting it right now, weary as I am. But he was determined, if nothing else.
"I'm about to show you another ability my people have. Thankfully, unlike the shift, I can do this whenever I need to. But I'll need help from you, if you're going to see it." Kvothe stretched again and yawned deeply, fighting of the tiredness that was biting at his body. "I'll need you to calm your mind as you would if you were meditating. In addition to that, you need to open your presence up, if you know how. It'll make things much easier on my part."
Kvothe looked up, his green and purple eyes looking into hers as he gave her a weary nod. "I'm ready whenever you are."

As she watched the Force fold around Kvothe, Alindra felt sad. She loved his true form, the brilliant wings that had risen, the way his hair filled out like a mane. His skin even shimmered in a way that excited her.
Alindra heard that Kvothe was glad that it had worked for her, but all she could see is the parts of himself that he cut off. The restraint, the confinement. To Alindra, it was like she had never seen him before he sprouted wings and the act of putting those wings away cut her off from seeing him further.
She took her seat in front of Kvothe, ready to see the next demonstration of power. "Kvothe. Are you sure you need to be doing these things right now? If you keep drawing on power this way, you might tear your self apart."
But she had to realize Kvothe knew what he was doing. If he didn't, he wouldn't have asked for Alindra's help in doing it. All she had to do was open herself to him and calm her mind. Calm might have been evasive, but Alindra knew how to find it. There were new things she could focus on. Lyra and the plans she had to empower her. Added to that was the vision of Kvothe and what he'd just done. Alindra focused on those deepest feelings and reached out.
"I'm ready."

"I'll be fine," Kvothe said, offering a tired smile at Alindra's concern for him. "I've pushed myself farther than this before. Much farther." Truth be told, he'd probably need to rest once this was all done, but that was something to worry about later.
He watched her, feeling the aura around her grow still and calm as she sought out that calm place within her mind. He sat there, waiting until she finally told him that she was ready. When she did, he reached out and placed one of his hands on hers and spoke as he began to draw on the Mythos.
"I'm about to show you a place that's very special, Alindra. As I reach out to your mind, I need you to trust me, and allow me to pull you there. Things will go much more smoothly if I don't have to fight against you." Of course he believed that she wouldn't fight back, but sometimes it just happened instinctually. It never hurt to be sure.
Kvothe allowed his eyes to slide shut and reached out to her through the Mythos, bringing his mind into contact with hers. Then he began to pull, taking the awareness of both of them from the world they were in to another one--to Silmorne. If he was just going there on his own, it wouldn't have taken that much effort, but to pull the mind of another there--especially someone who was not another Rilan--took more focus.
But he got them there, and next thing he knew, he was in that ethereal plane, standing before Silmorne, the Great Tree. It was massive, with a silver trunk and full, dark green leaves at the top. There was a forest behind the tree and plains rolled out in every direction, under a clear, beautiful night sky that was dotted with more stars than he could count.
He appeared in his true form once again here, as most Rilans did. His robes were different--the top was a loose sleeveless tunic that was the same dark green as the leaves of the tree, with slits in the back for his wings, and the loose, wide pants were silver, like the trunk.
"Welcome to Silmorne, Alindra."

Alindra thought she trusted Kvothe, but she knew there were things she didn't want to reveal to him, not yet. In time, she knew she could convert him. Feeling the sway of his feather in her hair, Alindra knew she could do it, especially if they were so bonded after only a little more than a day.
Holding Kvothe's hand, Alindra let herself relax. She did what she could to give herself over to him, let him refine her reflexes so she could follow him wherever they were headed.
In an instant, they were somewhere else. Kvothe, once more, was in his true form, this time with shimmering clothes tailor-made for his actual shape and size. They had gone to an ethereal plane, hidden under the blanket of night, surrounded by fields and forests in every direction. A massive tree stood close to them, its silver trunk stood as a silent warden, its dark green leaves blowing to create soft, natural music.
Alindra's clothes, like Kvothe's had changed. Instead of the relaxed clothes she had on, she now wore an elaborate gown, billowing out with several layers of silk. It shined in black, trimmed in gold, and lined with red lace. A decorative cowl rested over her hair, concealing Kvothe's feather. The cowl also had a gold veil, though it was tossed over her head, trailing down her spine.
"Welcome to Silmorne, Alindra."
Turning to face Kvothe, Alindra was still in a degree of doubt. "What is this place? And our clothes? Your wings? What's going on?"

"This place is called Silmorne," Kvothe answered, looking to Alindra with a smile. "It's... another plane, I guess; an ethereal world that, as far as I know, only my people have access to. We can pull in others, as I've done with you, of course. I don't know why that is, or how this place even came to be, for that matter."
He walked slowly over to the trunk of the Great Tree, resting a hand on it gently and feeling the smooth bark beneath his fingers. "My mother might have known more when she was still alive--she was training to become a priestess before my parents had to flee Rilia, but she's been dead for a long while now." Kvothe sighed at that, but moved on.
"In any event, this place is special. There's no Force, no Mythos, no Winds, no whatever you want to call it here. And my appearance? Our appearance, rather?" Again, he turned to face her, though his arm remained up, hand resting on the tree. "I can choose what form I take here, though normally we appear in our true forms." He smiled a joking, almost mischievous smile at her then. "And, if I can be in this form without it draining me so quickly, I can't say I can complain. My clothes are the clothes I've always had when I show up here. I've heard it said that many of us often appear here in robes similar to these.
"And as for you?" An appraising eye looked her over, noting how different her attire was from what it had been in the real world. "I'm not sure, but it's certainly fitting with your ambitions."
Kvothe let his hand fall from Silmorne's trunk and walked back toward Alindra. When he reached her, he stood by her and turned around, looking at the tree. "This place is very dear us. It's where we're brought on our births by the priestesses to be given our true names. And, it's a place where you and I can stay in touch, no matter the distance between us."
There was a small smile on Kvothe's face when he looked at her, hoping she'd understand the depth of this gift. "That's why I told you that if you ever need me or want to speak to me and you have my feather, I'll know. I might not be able to reach you then, but if I try to pull you into Silmorne, you'll know.
"Of course you'll need to be somewhere were your body is safe, since you won't be aware of what's going on outside while you're here. A meditation chamber or some private quarters would probably do just fine, though."

"Silmorne..." Alindra still marveled at the realm. To her it was an utterly perfect place, somewhere she could forget all her heartache and, for the first time possibly ever, just be herself. She enjoyed her passions and the excitement that came with pursuing them. Feeling power, strength, taking someone's life away with her own two hands.
But being in Silmorne took her away from those needs. She simply felt wonderful and pleased. Alindra was almost at peace. Her disconnection to the Force didn't even bother her. It just felt good to be in a magical realm, standing next to Kvothe while being lit with silver moonlight.
As Kvothe remarked Alindra's clothes, she smiled in a proper, elite manner, almost mocking at the same time. She took a few steps, guiding the skirt of her gown as she walked. "I believe I am quite set in my ambitions, Lord Algaterra." Then she laughed. It was nice to be able to joke with someone. Alindra hadn't really been able to do such a thing... ever.
When the full explanation was finished, Alindra rubbed her hands along Kvothe's arms and gazed into his eyes. "I think I understand," she said. "You're making it where I can contact you through meditation and you can draw me here, to Silmorne?" She looked around the vast realm, pleased that they were alone. "I can get used to that."

"Lord Algaterra, huh?" Kvothe grinned at Alindra as she rubbed her hands along his arms. "Interesting title, but I think it's one I could grow to like. I've never considered anyone calling me 'Lord' before." He laughed at the image that suddenly came to mind: one of him in the throne room of some grand estate, ruling over his subjects.
It was something he'd never even dreamed of being possible, not in a thousand years. Kvothe was a warrior, not a ruler. Still, though, it was fun to entertain fancies, if only for a little while.
"Y'know, my parents used to tell me stories of our homeworld. They said there were great Houses there, with lords that ruled over them. I wonder if there ever was a Lord Algaterra..." He shook his head. "Probably wasn't though. We weren't a wealthy family. Merchants, traders... not bad off, but far from nobility.
"Anyway, that's all irrelevant now," he went on. "But yes, here we can meet, matter how far apart we are from each other. And," he reached up, touching one of her curls of hair, "I think it's much better than simply using some hologram, don't you?"

"It'll be just for us," Alindra said. She let her hand meet Kvothe's holding it within the refined curls of her hair. In Silmorne, Alindra felt like a queen, especially when she was close to Kvothe, even though her presence alone was a sign of that.
"I will find you here, and often, my Lord Algaterra." Alindra smiled, letting her hands pull closer around Kvothe. "I would remain here with you as long as you will have me."
She kissed him again, satisfied that it was a genuine feeling. Not only would Alindra become great, she would also stand with the magnificent creature she'd so quickly fallen in love with. It was becoming more complete in her mind. She would help Kvothe turn, then the two of them would conquer and rule as much as their hearts craved.

[Sorry about the lateness. School's picked up as of late]
"All you need to do is wish it, Alindra, and I will answer you," Kvothe said as their lips parted again. "As long as you have that feather, no distance, no sea of stars is too great to keep us apart. As long as it's with you, then so am I."
He smiled then, holding her close to him in a warm embrace. Here was the woman he'd given his heart to. She was the first person he'd ever given a feather to, and the first that he'd ever felt a true desire for, romantically. He was hers now, for better or for worse, just as she was his. And whatever lay on the road ahead, they'd walk it together.
Kvothe smiled at her as he released her and took a small step back. His eyes were a deep violet, even here, in a reflection of his feelings for her.
"But for now, my Lady, I think it's time we returned to the real world, were we're still together. I just wanted to show you this place, and now that I've done it once, I'll be able to pull you here whenever we need to see one another."
The ethereal world around them started to bend and blur then, the colors mixing together like paint stirred in a bowl. "Remember," Kvothe said as he pulled them both out and back into their bodies proper, "all you have to do is desire to see me and I'll know, no matter where you are."
A moment later found them both in Kvothe's room, exactly as they'd been sitting before. Kvothe grinned wearily at Alindra and leand back against the foot of the bed, sighing as he felt the effects of trying to do so much in so short a time settle into his body. "I probably should have waited after doing the transformation," he started, "but I couldn't make myself wait."
The Rilan let his eyes close as he tilted his head back against the bed. "So those are the gifts I had for you, Alindra." He cracked an eye open and looked at her, still wearing that tired smile. "You showed me love and I can never match that, but I think it's only fair I showed you something in return."

They returned from Silmorne. Once more, Alindra was cast into her more simple, more plain form. She had been left to consider herself and Kvothe. The bond between the two of them had grown strong, enough that Alindra knew she would use the feather in time to contact Kvothe and meet with him on the ethereal plane once more.
Feeling the Force around her again gave Alindra a boost in energy. She loved and craved the power the Force gave her. There were so many things she wanted to do and suddenly, she didn't feel like she had made a great deal of progress. Then she looked at Kvothe and realized it hadn't been a loss at all, not even a setback.
"I think you've given me more than what I've given you," Alindra said. "You showed me a magnificent, divine creature when you showed yourself to me." She ran her fingers down his right arm. "You gave me a realm where the two of us can be together and perfect any time we want, no matter where we actually are."
Alindra put on her sly smirk. "If anything, I owe you more."

Kvothe's smile touched the eye that he cracked open to look at Alindra, even as he laughed softly. "Perhaps so. Though, had it not been for the love you showed me, I might never have done what I just did."
He picked his head up from leaning on the foot of the bed as it had been and smiled at her. "I'm sure we could spend all day trying to figure out who owes who, though. How about we just call it even? Because of you, I've found love, intimacy... And because of that love, you've seen me as I truly am, and Silmorne. They're all special gifts for special people, I think."
Kvothe leaned back against the bed then, his body yearning for sleep. As tired as he was, though, he couldn't go to sleep just yet. He was quiet as he reflected over the events of the last day and a half. Ruusan was a world he'd come to on a whim, and it was a world that had been very kind to him. He'd found Allindra, and now the bond that ran between them was strong. Never before had Kvothe showed the things he showed her to someone so quickly, and she was the first to ever get a feather from him. Yes, Ruusan had indeed been kind to him.
"So what will we do now?" he asked, still leaning back. "There's not much more that I can think of on the agenda, and truth be told, I'm pretty tired." His left eye opened just wide enough for him to see her."Do you have any other plans for moving forward?"

Alindra held onto the feather Kvothe had given her. The fibers flexed and locked back into position as her fingernail ran between each. She was filled with excitement at the idea of having new places to explore. Most would never know what Silmorne was; Alindra had been given a way to go there at a moment's notice.
The day had hardly started and, even though Alindra had tasks she wanted to attend to--a pair of old women needed to be liberated of their spacecraft--she wanted to stay. She wanted to see more of what Kvothe could offer her, and find new places for their relationship to go.
"As for what to do next," Alindra said, pulling on the laces of her corset. She watched Kvothe, her eyes filled with lust. "I'm sure we can come up with something."
